Yeah, great question... It's serious work and great instruction on this channel.. All the people that matter are here watching this channel and that's what is important. Merry Christmas everyone!
What a great video! Being able to see inside such a restoration for me is a dream come true. Personally I would not mind the videos being 2x longer with even more details. I am looking forward to your assessment video after blasting when most potential issues are laid bare. And besides the educational aspect, for the owner of the car these videos must be a huge added value as they can follow the progress of the build.
You scared me on the last video when you got the impala back from the media blaster! Mine is in worse condition!!😮 I’m thinking mine is going to need floors trunk and firewall and possibly inner and outer rockers
Yours is repairable, it's just a matter of commitment and finding a shop with the skill and experience to accomplish the repair. Follow along the build, I will go step by step and explain the repairs.
I have two of the 63 Impala convertibles. So that's why it caught me interest. At first glance it's is a nice color. As well as looking like it's in just a little bit better shape than what it is. But it's still a nice shape, look forward to seeing the final product and the trip there
Great job! Subbed! About to start disassembling mine. Aren't you supposed to support the door frame after removing the doors to keep the car from bowing in??
Have you ever tried skipping the welders stands and simply using the 1 ton gantry to lift whole body at once to slide in/out frame? I work alone too and was considering this process.
Your information on this channel is truly awesome brother. The wife and I are so looking forward to applying your knowledge to all our projects and there is a few lol we added a 79 trans am Y84 car. If I was closer I would hang out at your shop and help you out just to learn. You rock man keep up the great content 👍.
At this point no need too... when removing rockers, floor, trunk then you brace.... this car will be installed onto a frame fixture and then braced before repair.
Your media blasting is it dustless? I vaguely remember you addressing what type of media blasting you use. Would you recommend or not recommend dustless? And why? Thanks man. I watch your videos all the time and multiple times. I’m really looking forward to the video on you addressing the drip rails on the 64ss. Merry Christmas to you and your family Bro.
So I have a question about the front fender trim Molding because I can't find anything on it. I have the chrome Molding but it was stated that trim Molding Brackets need to go on 1st ? Where does this go cause I can't find anything as to where they go. The car didn't have chrome on when I purchased so I didn't get to take it off
That depends on your experience level, what repairs are to be performed, existing damage/ condition.... If you're a beginner, then yes, you should. Keep in mind installing bracing is added material and labor cost that you'll be removing later. And if you watch later videos on this restoration, you'll see that the vehicle is put on to a frame fixture. And if you watch the finished videos, you will see that the door's, rocker's, fenders, hood lineup very nice.
Floors, lower trunk, upper trunk, wheel houses, quarters are getting replaced and the work is done on a 4x4x17 frame fixture, why would you waste the time.... if your skill/experience level is low, then yes you probably should take the extra time and money to brace.....
How does this channel not have more subscribers??? Awesome work!!
I know right.... someday, I have your support and that's huge ! Thanks for watching !
Right. I agree.
Thanks !!!!

Thanks ! the car went onto a frame fixture

I have a gantry also. Thanks !
Nice video, I would just weld braces to any convertible before taking it off the frame
It comes down to confidence in ones skill level and experience.... Thanks for watching.

I love Trans Am's I've owned I think 7?
Merry Christmas sir
Merry Christmas to you and family Mr. Stell !
Where did you attach the hoist hooks when lifting rearend with gantry?
Since I am replacing the floor, I cut a hole in each side of the floor braces as a lift point.
@guzzifabrication3448
What about protecting and using the trunk deck ( like I seen you using a hardtop roof on the 64)? Or maybe trunk hinges?
😎😎
Thanks ! Merry Christmas
😃👍
Thanks for watching !
Love you work man. I'm currently working on a 62 convertible. How do replace brackets they no longer make for the convertibles?
Search ebay, facebook, craigslist or fabricate them
Question why didn’t you brace the inside of car when pulling it of the frame? Asking cause I see a lot of people do that.
At this point no need too... when removing rockers, floor, trunk then you brace.... this car will be installed onto a frame fixture and then braced before repair.
Awesome work.
@@mariod2403 Thanks ! check out my playlist for other Impala builds, I go pretty indepth on metal repair.

What's your price and time to restore a car
Shop rate is $ 70. Hr. + parts/materials, depends on vehicle and schedule, Thanks for watching.
So I have a question about the front fender trim Molding because I can't find anything on it. I have the chrome Molding but it was stated that trim Molding Brackets need to go on 1st ? Where does this go cause I can't find anything as to where they go. The car didn't have chrome on when I purchased so I didn't get to take it off
It's always easiest to install the trim around the front of the fender with the fender off before assembly.
Is bracing not needed before lifting off the frame? Especially on a convertible?
That depends on your experience level, what repairs are to be performed, existing damage/ condition.... If you're a beginner, then yes, you should.
Keep in mind installing bracing is added material and labor cost that you'll be removing later.

any reason why you didnt brace the body?
Yes.... keep watching
How much would all that cost?
We won't know until it's all done
Why not brace the body.
Floors, lower trunk, upper trunk, wheel houses, quarters are getting replaced and the work is done on a 4x4x17 frame fixture, why would you waste the time.... if your skill/experience level is low, then yes you probably should take the extra time and money to brace.....
