  • This is a video of the frame off restoration of my 63 impala. The frame has been taken completely apart, sand blasted, primered, and then painted. I have installed new upper and lower a-arm bushings and ball joints. New front and rear coils and shocks as well as all new stainless steel brake and fuel lines.. I installed a front power disc brake kit from a company called MBM. The engine is a rebuilt chevy 350 and the tranny is a rebuilt chevy turbo 350. I still have a couple of things to do in order for the frame to be finished and ready to set the body on it..

Thanks David, you're right it takes a lot of time, money, and hard work... And patience... I haven't been able to touch my car in months cause I've been busy with other projects around the house. Just got the fenders and core support sandblasted and primered a few weeks ago. Hoping to start putting those on as soon as I get some time.

good work dude!! this is truly an inspiration to me as my dad just gave me his 62 SS ragtop...its a complete bucket at the moment - but i figure its the perfect opportunity to do a frame off restore on it...just like you did, take the body off and start form scratch...cant wait to get crackin on it

All projects take commitment time and money but you save on labour and learn so much along the way.
I have a 63 impala project in mind but i just have to make sure there are vin number tags.
So i can check and verify its all legit before purchasing to resgister the vehicle after restoration.

Not finished with the restoration yet, so far i've completed the chassis and almost done with the sheetmetal work on the body... Should be transferring the body to this frame pretty soon...

@TheMichaelrichard So far i have 75 hours into the frame as it sits....That includes disassembling the rolling chassis, taking it to get sandblasted, spraying it,reassembling it with all new suspension parts, fuel lines, brake lines, and bolting down the engine and tranny...

is there a space between the disc brake bracket and the spindle in the back? My kit says to use a thick space they have supplied in the front hole to the steering arm but i have a gap in the back where the bracket is between the spindle and steering arm. Its for a 64 impala. Thanks

Depends if you're gonna do it yourself or pay someone to do it. I've saved thousands of dollars by doing it all myself.
