I know he's a villain but I just love that image of Tywin on the Iron Throne. It really captures the essence of the fact that he's the most powerful man in Westeros and the one who's really in charge.
That's Charles Dance we're talking about. So many actors in this series that straight-up own the room. Him glaring with Tyrion at the end here though was the first time Tyrion surprised him. He's also hating him for that.
That was really Tywin's main motivation in going along with the show trial. He didn't kill Joffrey, but in Joffrey's death he saw an opportunity to get Jaime out of King's Landing and have him start a family, aka the conversation they had at the start of the season. He calculated Jaime will fold under pressure to save his brother. It was all going along so smoothly until Tyrion threw a wrench in his plan and now it's going to be an absolute insane whirlwind of a ride.
Jamie: I'll take my place as your son and heir, if you let Tyrion Live. Tywin: Done. Jamie: You were planning this from the moment I walked in weren't you? Tywin: I've been planning this since the day you were named to the Kingsguard.
Shae is probably the worst thing that could’ve happened to Tyrion after his family! Poor man can’t catch a break! His speech at the end felt from the heart it’s like it was Peter speaking not Tyrion .. powerful heartbreaking and savage all at once!
@@MrKingYuji No doubt about it! This felt way too real. And surely he is an amazing actor but I don’t know how to explain it , it didn’t feel like just acting.
I know Tywin is technically a villain, but you gotta love him. He plays the game at a higher level than anyone else. He doesn't give a shit that Joffrey was killed...he just immediately saw it as an opportunity. He knew that if the finger was pointed at Tyrion, Jamie would come to his rescue...and Tywin could manipulate him into doing what he wanted all along.
@@martythetickler He also wrote the letter to Lord Frey that resulted in Frey turning on Robb at Red Wedding. He's also the guy that gave Tyrion's first wife to be passed around by his guards. These aren't things hero's do...they're things villains do!
@@martythetickler Naw man. Even on the GOT curve Tywin is a straight-up cold villian. Anti-hero. Lawful evil. Every action he takes is for himself. He hides behind his family name. He doesn't see family or love. He treats everyone like a pawn in his own game. Wait... why are we having this argument? He blames Tyrion for his mother's death at birth--to his face. Now at his direction, he has Tyrion on trial in a kangaroo court for death. And you know he didn't go to one little league game.
Which is exactly why Tyrion spited him in the end. In the book he is glad to see the look on Tywin's face when he spoils his plans Also about Tywin, his fault was his flaw about not knowing when to stop and trying to crush someone too much. I will quote this excellent line from one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's sherlock holmes story " But he had not that supreme gift of the artist, the knowledge of when to stop. He wished to improve that which was already perfect -- to draw the rope tighter yet round the neck of his unfortunate victim -- and so he ruined all" This is exactly what Tywin did wrong. Tyrion was ready to go with Jamie's plan but Tywin wanted the case to be even more airtight and didnt realize how personal it will be for Tyrion. And trying to improve what was already perfect, he ruined all
Season 4 doesn't get any less impressive with the passage of time. Just one 🔥 episode after another, and just when you think it can't possibly get better, they just go and top it again. The best season of all in GOT, the best writing and the best acting. Looking forward to the next four episodes. Top reaction 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Out of all the fifty something odd emmys GoT won, it's crazy that Peter missed out on an emmy for this scene. Aaron Paul won it that year for Breaking Bad I think. Which would be well deserved, but fuck man, give Dinklage all the emmys for that performance. What a scene!
And that's why this is the best episode of the best season of the show. Ending with the best song, if you fully listen to it, the Tyrion song I call it from this moment on.
Little pockets of the North are still occupied by the Iron Born from the time of Theon's invasion during the War of the 5 Kings. From Roose and Ramsay's conversation a few episodes ago, the viewer is told that those Iron Born are mostly concentrated in Moat Cailin. The Boltons can't enter Winterfell and claim their seat as the Wardens of the North until Moat Cailin is cleared out. Ramsay's plan is to take over Moat Cailin by using Theon to his advantage. Once the remaining Iron Born are flushed out, the North is effectively Boltons'.
So many truths are said here and I dare not say who is saying it ah ha. I remember when Tyrion said his speech, it was so powerful and well acted, I literally felt like my spirit was freaking floating cause how great that was. I was like this is more than just another scene from a TV show. Only this scene could match my prior favorite scene which was Jaime and Bienne in the bathtub. Those damn Lannister actors are just the best. Peter, Nik, Lena, Charles.
Imagine they say your brother killed your own child. And you making an arrangement with your dad for him. Offering yourself for eternal family duty for saving your brother's life. So naive! Because Tywin is too smart and he knows already what Jaime thinks always. But... Tyrion knows his family better than Jaime. And the perfect ending speech by Tyrion!
Still loving your reaction videos. Had to step away for a bit but I binged and caught up today. So much fun. I know it feels like seeing the actual trial by combat episode will be awesome and I understand being disappointed you have to watch the next episode to get to the trial by combat episode, but actually the next episode is a good one. I promise there are things in the next episode that are worth watching before the trial by combat episode. Stay safe, be well, and I look forward to the next episode, whenever you have time.
You’re absolutely right. It was NOT intended to be hurtful, but carelessness can still be hurtful. Thank you for your kind reminder. We’re taking it to heart.
Quick answer, prime Jaime is the third best fighter in game of thrones and the first two are barristan selmy and Arthur dayne. Oberyn is a good fighter but he'd really only be able to beat one handed Jaime.

Da One True King!
Well Tyrion is a villain too, or at least he is in the book, so speaks Martin.
Show Tyrion is incredibly whitewashed.

Can't say enough good things about Peter Dinklage this episode. His body language. Facial expressions. That speech. All the awards!
Jamie: I'll take my place as your son and heir, if you let Tyrion Live.
Tywin: Done.
Jamie: You were planning this from the moment I walked in weren't you?
Tywin: I've been planning this since the day you were named to the Kingsguard.
One of the best TV monologues of all time. It’s between that and Jaime’s bathtub scene in S3.

I’m sure Peter was channeling all his childhood trauma as someone struggling with dwarfism
