Love his voice. He was the lead singer for the Temptations during 64-68 & is best known for the songs "My Girl" & "Ain't Too Proud To Beg." He also had a great solo career later. "My Whole World Ended (The Moment You Left Me)", "I Lost Everything I've Ever Loved", "I'm So Glad I Fell For You", "Common Man" "No Matter Where", "Who I Am", "Statue Of A Fool" etc.
You might also want to check out David's big brother, Jimmy Ruffin's "What becomes of the broken hearted." Talent struck twice in that family😀 David was the most famous, because of his solo career and his work with the Temptations. But, Jimmy was no slouch, either!☺
Yup very underrated. Had so many great songs I've passed this way before. I'm going to give her all the love I've got And my favorite. As long as there is L.O.V.E Love. Just a few of his recordings ✌️
Such a beautiful song; so good to hear it again. Oh how I miss being a kid watching Saturday Morning TV that would start with cartoons, with some "Schoolhouse Rock" mixed in, and would end with Soul Train 🥰
David Ruffin is amazing. was so sorry that this brilliant man passed away. His voice had an almost crying reaction to most of his songs. Great reaction Shawn and Mel! Love this song, also! My fav. one by Mr. David Ruffin is; "My whole world ended the moment you left me". Hope you two can react to that! Thanks again! :)
The epitome of Soul. "Moves" right out the box. That voice gets into the stratosphere. Shawn, I notice you and I were gripping that fist about the same times. And I think that is indeed live!! There was no one like David . G-D that crack! Thank you so much for this reaction!
I live in Detroit absolutely love rock and roll, but Motown is part of my soul. When I was a younger man I was assaulted by a Detroit police officer. I met Mr. David Ruffin at 36 District Court ,before the courtroom opened. I had noticed mr. Ruffin standing in the corner with a lawyer that was known because of his TV commercials Larry Kor n. I introduced myself an asked if I could shake his hand. Told him how much I loved his music and was honored to meet him. It's most unfortunate he had grown an addiction to drugs and passed away too early such a great voice and Legend
David Ruffin and his brother were great singers!!! Check out his brother Jimmy Ruffin too!!! He had a hit: What becomes of the broken hearted!!! A true classic!!!
Did you know that Michael Jackson paid for David Ruffin's funeral? He passed away in 93 and he was financially unstable from drugs and alcohol and child support. MJ saw the need of his influence singing "My Girl". He had to do his part.
What a voice. David Ruffian is right up there with Marvin Junior lead for the Dells two of the greatest voices in music. Marvin Jr had a more gospel feel to his voice Hand clapping Foot Stomping.Yet he could be just as sweet. David was mellow Sweeeet velvet.both of them had that scratchiness ( don't know if that's even a word) in their voices when they sang✌️
One of my few favorite singers when leaving a great group...besides of his drugs and Fing up his life for awhile he was a great blessing...I don't judge people by their downfalls but by their character...sorry, but he was a great tribute to music
This was always my fave Ruffin song but there is some competition now with his spectacular song Slow Dance. Omg...check that one out! He is the best singer that ever came out of the USA. Simply a wonderful voice full of soul and heartfelt emotions. Slow Dance is what knocked Teddy Pendergrass off my number 1 list. David is the MAN!
It makes me feel good to see this younger generation appreciate real music and lyrics. Also understand that back in those days when someone walked out the door, they were gone.. There was no internet, texting, etc.. too keep in touch.
I love this reaction video. Mostly due to the simple fact that it’s 2022 and you guys are reacting to David Ruffin. I love David’s soulful voice, you can feel his pain through his vocals. I listen to him when I’m happy, sad, mad, etc. Keep up the great videos you guys are making. Much love.💚
Wow! Great throwback!!! You guys are on fire w the songs and your reactions! This is what is missing today! Romance and authenticity! Love to see you both discovering all these smooth, amazing feel good songs! 👏👏👏👏
That was a little slice of heaven. He is amazing. One of my favorite songs. When you play these old Soul Train clips, be sure and watch the dancers closely. The best ones are usually on the platforms to the side or back of the singer. There was one man who was going to town. You know it was a good song when you see people moving like that. So much fun! :)
This one always fascinated me because it was one of the first Motown songs recorded outside of Detroit or Los Angeles. Van McCoy giving it the early disco beat. Great stuff🎼
One of the greatest singers of all time, take it from me if this was played on the radio young and old would know the words in a day. Check out his Bro Jimmy, an amazing song called songbird...really nice or I've passed this way before.
Great great David Ruffin! He gave us some unbelievable music when he was with the Temptations. Sad ending to his life but he left a great legacy great music
I was in born in 83. This is 1 of my favorite male singers. And I realize this song got the realest verse ever in it: I rather leave you holding on; then you pushing me away. MEANING: I rather leave now, before you stop loving me and then WANT ME GONE .( Cause its a horrible feeling loving someone who don't love you back). THAT SH!T REAL.. NEW SUBBIE BTW
Love his music, loved your reaction ❤️ I'm so thankful we got away from the Bellbottom Pants 👖 lord and the Hip Huggers,we thought we we're all that and a bag of chips, 🤣 but ya gotta love it,I grew up watching Soul Train and wouldn't change a thing ❤️, love you Ms.Lady Mel and Mr.Shawn hope ya'll have a blessed day 🙏
wonder have you listened to songs by jimmy and david ruffin singing together - if I could turn back the hands of time, stand by me and an amzing rendition of He aint Heavy he's my brother
** OhMyHeartbreak! Cryin' through the tears. DAVID RUFFIN was the shi*t! Yes, drug issues later, but He was SO Revered by His Music Community that Stevie Wonder & Aretha Franklin Sang at His Funeral & Michael Jackson PAID for It! Hey, Pass by his Grown-Man-version of the Jackson 5's, "I Want You Back."
Amazing singer. It's a shame you didn't hear the whole album song, Soul Train always cuts them short. He was the voice of My Girl and many other songs with The Temptations.
I was buying temptations albums with my money from cutting yards and delivering papers back in the day. He was the male lead of Motown. Smokey was talented and smooth. But David was a superhero performer.
You are listening to the great JIMMY RUFFIN. Grew up listening to the temptations, my beloved mom who passed away 1 year ago, liked listening to the temptations. This song is dedicated to you mom. RIP - MOM
"The Voice" hands down greatest of all time his range was unmatched his vocals second to none......
Well said
One of the best soul performances ever. David Ruffin is the truth!

You might also want to check out David's big brother, Jimmy Ruffin's "What becomes of the broken hearted."

Indeed, his outstanding voice isn't one in a million it's 'one in a lifetime'.
David was at my crib with Eddie in 1974 2 great guys.
RIP The Mighty David Ruffin. For so long the voice of The Temptations. Such a sad end for such a massive talent.
Now you see part of why The Temptations were so popular. David was about soul and passion.
Good....PHENOMENAL!!!

"Slow Dance" is something else❤️❤️❤️ Love that one too. I remain one of Teddy's biggest fans, but he comes in second place to Mr. Ruffin.!!!
Doing it like nobody else could.
