Thank you for reacting to my father's songs. I'm his eldest son. I will pass this reaction over to my pops. Go down the rabbit hole. They were inducted inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in April 2009 by his friend Smokey Robinson.

I had your Pops greatest hits CD in my Mercury "years" ago. I gave the car to my youngest son and I left the CD in the car.
I asked for it a long time ago...but he wanted to keep it. Because him and his wife wanted it. So I agreed. 🤣🤣 So I just ordered one today after ALL THESE YEARS. Because I heard it again on the T.V. 🤣🤣
Tell your "Pops" thanks for the music and his beautiful voice. He's a legend !

That’s how great singers were back then and Little Anthony was one of them, they made you feel like it actually happened to them. I’ll never forget this song, brings me back to when I first heard it playing all over the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. “Hurt So Bad” was another great one by him you’d get the same feeling. And as others mentioned “Im on the outside looking in.” Great songs!

Listened to this along with another great tune Hurt So Bad as a young elementary school kid in 1964 on the good ol,AM radio deep in the evenings this and Hurt So Bad were probably HUGE make out tunes.

They were one of the great groups of the 1960's. Little Anthony had a beautiful tenor voice that can reach falsetto scales with ease. He was extraordinary and one of the greatest singers ever.
This song [Going Out of My Head] came out in 1964 and was a monster hit for them.
And in 1965 their other hit song "Hurt So Bad" would also become one of their greatest hits ever.

I had the chance to meet him at a Radio Station sponsored show extremely close to my home. Nicest guy you would ever want to meet. Only thing he made PERFECTLY CLEAR before he started was “PLEASE don’t call me Little Anthony!” He said I’m short granted, but I have ( I think it was 6 or 8 kids, and like 20 Grand kids! So after that he put on his show, and it was just as good as it would have been when he was a kid. He greeted and talked to everyone there including myself and my buddy. He talked to us almost 20 min and we discussed his career and what was his favorite thing about being him as a singer in his heyday. Simple. I met my wife and we raised one big family and since I’m basically retired, I do a show or two like this a couple times just to make people happy which makes me happy, and that about covers it. He was so cordial to everyone except when he got fired up about DON’T call me Little!!! Even that ended in a joke. We all thought he was gonna blow a gasket. But it was all just in fun. But he said seriously don’t call me that. I haven’t gone by that in 50 years. Then the short joke. But we all had a great time, and like I said Nicest guy you’d ever want to meet.

Little Anthony & the Imperials are still performing! Anthony Gourdine is still in fine voice, even though he is now in his 80's. He said it was Frank Sinatra who gave him some advice that enabled him to take his art to a higher level. Sinatra told him to think of the lyrics and their meaning while singing. That was it. The light bulb got turned on! This song and the way he sings it is proof that he took that advice to heart.
