    I forgot to comment. Excellent job going over the BB team. The Magus definitely looks like he’d be good in select matchups, but I agree the Primus & Patriarch look better for a take all comers perspective.
    It’s really weird how many specialists had no ranged weapons.

      It's almost as if they wanted to give you something to spend EP on. The new squats are similar with all the basic weapons in the equipment list. Maybe this will be the way of things going forward.

    18:55 while the “Lookout Sir!” rule is not present in Rogue Trader it does in fact predate 40K as it derives from a rule in WFB (at least as far back as second edition) that prevents character models close to units being targeted.

    There are options other than tape measures and the half-way house of shapes. My vote is full-on template front-of-base to back-of-base movement.

      What, and be accused of ripping off shatterpoint?

      @@TabletopImpulse I was going to list off the games that used templates before Shatterpoint all the way back to Car Wars, but then I remembered how short people’s memories are these days 😔
      I suppose they could copy Deadzone and move to zone based movement instead. Both are superior to measured movement.

    I think magus might have a use, when trying to go for medic revives and shoot on death. If your plasma survives on 1 due to medic, you'd not be injured with the magus, same goes for shoot on death. If you do this from behind heavy cover you might even survive a plasma shot due to the 2 retains and the invul, while the magus stands on a vantage point in conceal and reduces APL on key visible operatives, damaging people if they are in line of sight, like a second silent sniper. Troopers might have some use with GA 2 as you could get a familiar in position and then shoot with a trooper using the familiars line of sight, but even with maximal buffs on the las guns this is a niche strat at best.

      I think this is a valid use for the magus, but I still think he comes up short compared to the primus and the patriarch. I could be wrong though.

      @@TabletopImpulseI'd say the primus might just be the strongest option just like in 40k at the moment, and the patriarch will definitely be a problem for casual players. I think I am okay with the Magus being playable and somewhat useful for casual play, but I would have liked them to be... more? The alternative skulpt looks so good and is so shit in 40k right now xD
      The amount of different options does make the team fun to crunch, so I am looking forward to that ;)

    Watching your video got me thinking… are we seeing the introduction of KT Elites and Commanders into this edition? If so, I like the way it’s being done. Though I still want my Terminator killteam!

    • @TabletopImpulse
      @TabletopImpulse  Місяць тому +2

      I don't think we will ever get Elites or Commanders in the sense of adding units to existing teams, but more new kill teams which can add characters or are more elite units, yeah probably it's something they will do again down the road.

      @@TabletopImpulse I think you are spot on with how this box will release separately. e.g. without the brood coven. Maybe that is how they will do teams in the future. Its another way of making people make at least two purchases to get all the options for their team.
      They could do this right away for vet guard. Maybe add a commissar in as an ancillary support option.

    47:34 Aren’t Psychic actions one per activation unless otherwise specified?

    • @TabletopImpulse
      @TabletopImpulse  Місяць тому +1

      No, the Psychic Action keyword does not do anything other then provide a trigger for other abilities (Such as sisters of silence psychic abomination) so you can do multiple different psychic actions per activation.

    I'm afraid you are mistaken about Mental Onslaught. It does require Line of Sight (the set-up power that drains APL just needs visibility, but MO requires LOS).
    It does not, however, require the Magos to go on engage.

    • @TabletopImpulse
      @TabletopImpulse  Місяць тому

      Sad, but true and makes the magos even less appealing than the other two characters.

      @@jonasvlcek9630 The Magos can absolutely be on Conceal and that's an awesome benefit. But you cannot use it to target an enemy on Conceal in cover.
