    Primus and friends will be taken in most competitive games, Patriarch in most casual games. The control the +1 to all initative rolls along with reroll if you ever los initiative gives you crazy control over the game. If you win Scouting phase, give 1st activation yo your opponent. In TP2, you get a reroll, +1 and tiebreaker which gives you the overwhelming advantage to get initiative, which can often swing the game (especially if that means throwing a dynamite in the middle of your opponents troops). The bonus APL for CP exchange is the cherry on top. Then the super-conceal gremlins are amazing for objective control.

    I guess the Needler means if someone charges your Ready medic then the medic can respond with his bayonet to focus on parries and potentially score a little bit of damage, then finish them off with the Needler when he activates. It's pretty specific, I'm not sure it needed to be Limited when realistically it's only going to get used once in an emergency anyway.

    The Magus second ability needs LoS, so no killing the sniper with it, as it would be concealed in Cover

    I will say I think you got one part wrong talking about the Patriarch activations when you're discussing if the model is a problem at 47:28. While strong, and doing 2 activations, you still can't do more actions than the 4APL it has from the start of the turning point. So you wouldn't be able to do what you describe here. That being said, being able to split your actions between two different activations is still really solid. Also I think the mind control is still nice but harder to do since you have to be within 2" to do it, costs 2AP, and is a once per battle which may not go off so it's not an all powerful ability since it requires a fair amount of setup to go off when you might be better off in most cases charging and fighting if you can't get near a strong enemy operative to do this against. Granted if it doesn't go off you can try again later so that's nice at least.
    Another point in the mind control ability is that if you mind control some enemy operative that would normally be in engagement range of another enemy model you now can make them fight, and if they have Brutal on say a power fist, your enemy is forced to try to kill his own model while you can also try to kill their other operative. A lose lose for the enemy Killteam.

    Cult Icon ability is way better than other Icon Bearer abilities. It affects ALL Brood Brother operatives within 6" instead of just himself. Stick him in mid board and his aura can cover 2-3 objectives potentially where your mooks count as 3APL for control. Very powerful

    The sapper's explosives action will be pretty handy in denying a midboard point to your opponent in some scenarios, but apart from that, not so much.

    I feel like they’re really downplaying how troopers can be used. Sure they got nothing going on ability wise. But I’m a vet guard player myself and I love me a trooper with GA2.

    38:10 You can't target snipers with mental onslaught. LoS is Visibility + Cover + Obscuring, so pretty much same as shooting

    Primus is best option... the silent shooting is sweet and the iniative manipulation is so strong. We all have lost games by unluckily not getting iniative t2 and t3. This guy is creating this happening quite often. The 2 familiars you get is amazing as well. I know at first the patriarch seems so cool but its just not the competitive pick. Its not even all that close honestly

    I can see all three options of heroes having legs. Patriarch.... a beast of a melee weapon and a sheer brute force, very tanky with the bodyguard and 4+Inv, and APLs for days... Mind Control being probably more of a nice one of trick in the bag. Primus... a great offensive weapon, +1CP and hopefully he can make 1/2 times a change in initiative. TP2 can be crucial... and yes, Monkeys are Awsome! But I can see that Magus might have the best synergy with the team, giving them so much stuff, and especially with the team mechanic. He can really hurt some major units at the begining turning poinst, working as a very mobile psyker in the back lines (combo -1apl and wounds acros the map/ the math is legit there)... and then coming in tp3/4 as more then a good finisher. I feel like much strength in this team lies was put in options given to the leadership. You can really respond well to what your opponent has to offer (three archetypes of tac ops just adds to that) besides not so great equipment... and a bit of a meh faction abillity. They very much keep the Wyrmblade vibe... the latter having less addjustibilty with Agents, better equipment and better abilities.

    the problem with the patriarch is it essentially works as two APL 2 activations. given it has no ranged attacks its limited to mainly charge, fight actions. however the 9" total movement restriction really impacts this, as i f you charge the full 8" you can then only charge/move/dash 1" the next activation. which then means you have to try and limit yourself to 4" charges. although a free 0 APL activation to skip a turn might be useful if you did use all 4 APL in one activation. i think he'll be fun to play from time to time, but mainly you'll see primus with the occasional magus for the 5+ invul and no injury, especially against AP heavy teams
    if i run the patriarch, might be worth the 1/ 2EP to give it a laspistol/ lasgun, to allow a charge, fight, followed by move, shoot

      It should be the team in the Termination box + four Cadian bodies to completely assemble everything.

    I don't remember if it's allowed but could we +1apl the patriarch with the comms to have a LPA 5?

    Crossfire tokens will be effective if you use the commander to put one on for free then use the medics gene-needler since you get a reroll for free if the single attack 4+ misses, its a cool 7 damage so you wanna make sure it goes through if you use it

    Patriarch can only use 4 APL total in one TP so he is not nearly as much of an issue

    Well, Patriarh is kinda subpar to Magos or Primus. It's not that his bad, he is awesome, but the utility you get from the other 2 and extra 2 familiars is better.

    Patriarch is too strong. Just outright wins some matchups. Especially with the 5+++ free body guard that can just follow him around. Kroot aren't picking him up without trading like 5 to 1. Same for exaction. Hell blades of khaine probably have to commit 3.
