Clever use of a permanent marker! Definitely an option for those doing panels before trim who don't trust the steadiness of their brush. I'm always down to learn alternate ways to accomplish things 👍
Really love the color progression on the armor and am planning to try them. I also like your color scheme in general, it looks really good. Not convinced by the trim method though
I hate painting Thousand Sons because of their curve lines on armour and now you showed me the best solution how to reduce risks in painting bad golden parts of armour. Thank you😂
Thank you for sharing; Can you explain a little more the "trick" with applying water first in the recessed area of the gun? This is new to me, would like to understand this a bit better. cheers.
Yeah definitely! You basically just want to dip a brush in clean water and run it over the recesses/runes. Then I dab off the excess with my finger or whatever so that there’s only water deep in the cracks of the recesses/runes. Then you only have to tap the recesses/runes with a smidge of water on your brush and the paint will flow into the water painting the rune. Let me know if that makes sense!
That job with the pen is the most amateur thing I have seen in a while. Not only is the trim patchy, all you have done is cover the top of the armour not the sides,
Not covering 100% of the trim with gold was pretty much the intention, I wanted to lean into some of the shadows created with the airbrush and only pick out the highlights. It's a bummer you didn't like the part about the metallics but hopefully you enjoyed some of the other parts of the video. I'm still pretty stoked with the results, but appreciate your honesty. I'd love to see some of your models, they must be up to a pretty high standard since you clearly have such a discerning eye.
@@Zanzibrushdon’t let this guy get you down. The parts of the shoulders you did hit with the sharpie actually look great - not to mention your blue and purple scheme is crazy cool looking. This is definitely the best “speed” version of thousand sons I’ve seen in 15 years. I’m also stealing that blue, it’s really vibrant. Cool video man. Hope you’re enjoying the Sons.
If you want to see another way to do it look at Critical Hit Wargaming, his post is much better and it includes a technique for dry brushing in which you don't have to worry about drawing your dry brush over the blue armour.

Also worth noting I do this whole process for white, let it dry completely and then do the same for the pink
@@Zanzibrush Thx, I will experiment and try the process out....
Anyone Else here get this recommendation after the poorhammer podcast? Just me then
How easy to paint is your army on a scale of easy necrons to chaos trim hellscape?
@@b-beale1931 YES
I'm glad you found the video! Hopefully this was sufficiently speedy hahah
