This channel deserves more views... Way under rated.
Thanks to you guys, I want to be an automotive fabricator. I think this would be an awesome career because I love building stuff and I like trucks!
Every time you see us do any plate work or notching on the show we are using it. It works very well!!! I would definitely recommend them. Great price and a very reliable plasma cutter.
The bedcage is the upper shock mount. That is just a small compromise you must choose for the performance gains of doing a bedcage like this. Also glad you like the show. It's always great to hear!!!
Thanks for the complement...we will have to see if we can do a show like that...there is so much involved with welding we probably can't fit it in just one episode.
With certain builds yes you do. We checked the driveshaft angle and made sure we strapped it at a point when the driveshaft would not bind. With the u joints it again depends on the build. Prerunners don't put the same strain on u joints like a rock crawler does.
Are you a mind reader? We are doing a 2007 F150 for the next build but we can't do the Raptor conversion because the Raptor fiberglass isn't wide enough for our Dixon Bros Racing long travel kit. It will still be a great build. Glad you like the show.
You are welcome...glad we could inspire you!!!
Can you guys make a video showing the best techniques to use when welding tubing?
All of your welds look flawless!
Ya we tried but there was no easy way to film it. Glad you like the show!!!
Sure Deaver can make anything you want. In my Ranger I ran Deavers for a long time before we built a bedcage.
Thanks!!! Glad you like it
Glad you like the show. We are already planning season 2. Be sure to send us some pics of your truck when you get your Deaver Springs done.
yes it will, cant wait to see it. this is probably one of my fav, series on youtube. wish my truck was l/t haha
I like the design of the bed cage; simple and compact. Please show me how you would remove the bed cage for towing in a future episode. By that, I mean where would you mount the shocks? Thanks for the episodes too!
Why didn't you mount the bottom of the rear shocks down to the axle? You could have a much longer shocks. also, how did you figure out the angle in which to mount them?
Thanks...keep watching there is more to come
Awesome build, been enjoying it thoroughly. You guys do amazing work.
Hello full droop TV, love you tutorials great videos. But I was wondering if there's a rear suspension that doesn't sacrifice the bad Space much or at all?
Glad you like the show...Send us pics of your truck when it's done.
Do you have to do anything with the drive shaft? Upgrade any U joints? These episodes are making me want to build one, Thanks for the shows!
Glad we could help!!!
You are a artist with a plasma cutter
PROPS
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone weld a shock mount onto the leaf springs. Usually I see people weld it onto the rear end. Why did you guys weld it onto the leaf springs?
Nice fab. work. That bed cage should be strong enough that if they ever wanna 4 link it they can just go coil overs without much bracing.
why didnt you show how to find your proper mounting points for the shocks? you have to measure droop and compression on only the main leaf to find the best point for the shocks to move and get the most travel out of them.
Nice job keepn it simple. How many hours went into that shock cage. In guessn 6.
Awesome build
Right now I'm currently taking some welding classes and I am really interested in making things like this. Also how you got started on welding these types of things for trucks??? And I wanted to know how I can get started on doing these types of things??? Any tips on how I can get started?
we all saw that pin fall out at 9:50
lol but jokes aside, great vid guys!
What diameter shock would you recommend for a 3/4ton F250? I've heard that most of the small trucks run 2.0" and 2.5" shocks, but with the diesel my truck probably weighs twice as much.
Also, how would I go about making the front suspension long travel, and prevent bump steer? In order to get the best performance I'd have to get rid of that panhard bar, causing the bump steer, correct?
Can you tell I want to build a truck to do it all? Lol, I'll try.
Where is Adem and Austin???? I miss this guys videos. Today is 12/20/21 and still watching the same videos over and over.
Thank you!!!
i need a good, but cheap all around fabricating welder like the one you guys use what type is it?
Super awesome style!
more more more, love these vids cant wait to see the finished truck... for the next truck you guys should starts with a 07-13 f150 and make a l/t raptor out of it. make it look like a raptor but preform better:)
Once you have a bed cage and bypass shocks. Can you still pull a lite toy hauler?
well i was thinking that but what would you recommend, im going to be doing the same as you guys do, im going to build my 96 c1500 while watching your videos as a tutorial ha but i cant get like anything over 1,500 help me out?
do you guys happen to know of any long travel leaf springs for a chevy colorado. any knowledge would be greatly appreciated
Great work guys
what size shocks did you guys use and how much travel did they have
I understand I just don't know what to recommend. I have bought "cheap" tools in the past and learned fast it is worth buying the good ones. Check for a used welder. That will save you a ton of money.
Welding backwards. YOu should be leading the puddle which puts the shielding gas ahead of the weld
idk about all the harbor freight tools, but the rest is dope
hey, can you guys do a project of a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado 2wd. It seems that people think those trucks are a joke and you guys can prove them wrong by building a prerunner out of it.
Can I use the deaver spring with bilstein 5100?
Why a sheet metal rear shock mount vs. a tube frame? You've already got the tube and bender. I can't imagine there being a weight advantage with all that sheet steel.
Wat size gage is the sheet metal u used to make the bed cage and all of the shock brackets?
Looks like 3/16. Pretty much all plate used in offroad is either 3/16 or 1/4.
Well our Lincoln welder is not cheap, it is a great welder.
Do you guys know if a longbed would look good as a prerunner. I want to make mine into one but I don't know
seth metzler as long as its a short cab. really long vehicles will have to much of a delay in the front and rear making it uncomfortable, maybe even dangerous.
Ok, so I have a 94 Chevy Silverado I'm working on doing this build for what size was the leaf springs for the build you did? You said they were long travel but on Deaver's site there is no long travel kit...
Deaver doesn't list your model truck on their site but they can make any spring. Call up Vegas Dezert Fab our shop and we can help you.
did you ever find any suspension kits for your truck ? cause i have 1996 silverado and i need some too
omar elizalde LSK makes a kit for '88-98 chevy's.
Duuuude!! thanks!! finally i found a kit for my truck!!
How much does it cost to build a prerunner with adding a rear bumper? And is there anywhere where you could buy a bed cage?
4 years late but about 20,000 if you dont cheap out, Camburg makes a bitchen bedcage. I just got mine!
what pattern is he doing while welding? looks like back and forth pattern.
Jon R. probably easier for him to do that then little circles.
Jon R. my instructor always told me to be comfortable, so he's just doing whats familiar.
Call Deaver Springs. Even if they don't list a spring on their site doesn't mean they won't make one.
not gonna show the very front bedcage mount being made?
Actually there are 12 hours for each side...since everything was done by hand. Next season we need to look into a laser cutter...
How much for bed cage
You see the difference between you guy and me....
1. Y’all have the proper tools for welding and cutting
2. I’m still in high school😂
3.i race in the first place so my build is a very damn slow one
you will probably never see this comment but just wondering what kind of Deaver leaf springs you guys used
how do you know what size shocks to use?
front and rear
Since you're doing a video, wouldn't it have been better to remove the shock and then show how much droop there was
No ish. Wow. By hand always feel better when completted
You guys didn’t break down the leaf pack to set your bump location. You also didn’t set your shock at bump and then articulate the suspension to insure correct shock location. You also strapped it with excessive leaf separation. Usually a deaver spring needs a longer shackle or even better, move the hanger back a few inches. Stock hangers and shackles aren’t recommended. This suspension will bind with how it’s currently setup. This is why breaking down the leaf pack and cycling it is so important. The fabbing is nice but the setup is all wrong.
12:33, a framing hammer??!!
me gusto mucho
Bolt on bed cage but yet you cut off the old shock mounts why not just weld the cage to the chassis
ok thank you :)
those mounts look a little thin. fab work is good looking tho
why leave the fenders on tho? All in the way and shit
I bet your insurance is through the roof.
