Mr.Boley, I have been doing nothing but speed jigging the last 2 weeks. I have been having serious issues with braid wrapping around rod tip. I will be spooling up with mono directly in hopes your tip pays off. I have caught several walleye using your technique but have found for myself that to keep my boat at .4mph and work at a soft 45degree angle snap jigging is less of a hassle for myself do to line wrapping around tip when using cast and retrieve techniques. Never the less your my hero and my wife wishes that I never stumbled on your channel. It takes time and money to be like TOM... your the man brother
Great advice here for the people that are interested in the reaction bates. I use mono as well. The stretch in the line will definitely help with keeping the fish pinned.
Is a bunch of fish a pod? I always thought it was a school of fish. A group of Orcas is called a pod. I'm 71 years old and never too old to learn something. Dang good video.
Tom Boley - video suggestion. (could be a Tom talk). you probably have 20 videos each on speed jigging, slip bobbing ... How about a video that just shows finding fish on sonar/DI and Side imaging. that's it just driving around finding fish and showing what they look like on the Helix. maybe here is a mud flat that has some gravel, here are the fish .... it Would be very helpful. thanks - ps, my t-shirt came the other day
Bet you wouldn't in a hard to fish lake. Get out my cane pole and safety pin hook, goin' fishin' where these dudes be going...hahaha, just kidding. NOT.
First comment ever... Awesome as usual! Best info available for all of us learning to maximize use of our graphs. And, fishing rods. And terminal tackle. And boats. Tom, Love you man! Seriously! I take care of people with the Rona. I think you’ve got it. Go get a COVID test. You might be helped by treatment if you get worse. Not playin! Take care of yourself! We need ya!
This is Carl from Northeast Ohio I am kind of need to your channel so far I love everything I've seen and I just wanted to let you know I absolutely love your boat
Tom, I finally got a chance to do this at lake Meredith in the Texas panhandle. 101° with light wind and caught 7 when nothing else would work. Keep the great videos comin!!! I would like some suggestions on finding those large “pods” of walleye, however. I am only finding maybe 2-3 fish in area at a time. Any hints?!?
That is how walleye school up on spots. It's the same on my lake. There may be 20 of them in a general area but generally they are in pods of 2-5 fish spread out over an area. Only times they really school up bigger than that is when the water is cool or during spawn.
Is it safe to assume your in a snag free area when using this technique? (No Weeds or Rocks) By “slack line” I assume you mean on bottom? I’ve learnt so much from your channel, I’m catching 10 times what I have in previous years. Pitching jigs, pulling spinners on line counters, power slip bobbing, and recently lindy rigging (set a PR last week). But this jig’n’rap has really got the best of me. I’m thinking maybe I’m using this when fish are located in too much cover. I’m down too many lures to admit. However, I can honestly say when I am successful, majority of it can be attributed to your channel. Thanks Tom!
What makes you choose to do this vs a slip bobber rig or any other setup when you know exactly where the fish are setup and you’re dropping bait in front of their faces? Preference? Or fish behavior? Does it matter?
@@TomBoley I didn't catch it, if you run a leader, or just mono your line to the lure and what test line? Your very informative, I dont mind watching details, even if repeated. Thanks for taking the time, to make these vids. I aim to get better at walleye, in the little amounts of time I have to actually fish here in Indiana. I'm slowly upgrading my gear. No expensive boats yet, just jons for me. One is a project boat, I hope to get out next season. Ive caught musky, back when lived in IL at Shelbyville Lake, which also has walleye. We used a lot of fire tiger color there. Caught them on spinner baits, and a few on live bait(bluegill) fishing for cats.
Tom, I see that VMC has come out with a bladed treble hook to add to this type of presentation. Have you you tried this at all? What are your thoughts on it?
At Cabela’s. Fished round Lake and the big chip this past weekend, but could not get anything to bite. Do you think hyper glides Are so different that they would not work the same as hyper rattles?
So Tom when your doing all these snaps on a slack line how do you know hits and also were abouts of jigg, so this must mean you let jigg hit bottom then let line go slack then snapp it, it doesn't seem easy for control, its almost like I need a subscription of this some kind of drawing or something
How often do you snap your line or your uni knot and lose one of these baits? I imagine it has to happen if you’re doing this in rock areas after awhile.
Right on BROTHER! Everybody is cool when there are 8-12 Walleye per acre. Notice they never tell you where they are fishing. Just another "Look at me" video. Sad...
Hat down, head down. If the bill is more down the wind pushes it down more. If the bill is up the wind will catch and blow it up off your head. Simple as that.
After watching video, went on line to purchase these Acme Hyper Rattle lures. Unfortunately, does not seem to be any available at this time of the year. Link to Acme site claims a restocking date in September.
Humminbirds are linkable. That said, unless your running a separate unit say up front, they can all run off one transducer. Most guys running units side by side are typically using one for mapping only anyhow and wouldn’t even need a second transducer regardless.
Tom, I want to order a Beckman net like yours on-line. What’s the bag dimensions and handle length. I understand if you don’t have time to reply. Keep the videos coming.
Joseph Truskowski thanks, I have looked at the Slider S2 nets, but I want to keep it simple. It seems like to me that the S2 has to many moving parts that could break. Thanks again.
Ehhh... Wisconsin’s lakes are busier than in their history this year with no one being able to take a real vacation. My guess is he filmed this on a Wednesday or something.
Are you all braid or do you have like a Fluro leader like 12-15lb. It’s stiffer. Not flimsy like braid. I do the same thing on my ice fishing rods I jig with. It helps.
What snaps are you using? I tried to tell from the video but couldn't get a clear enough shot. I assume its not one of the old, standard types. All those types that I have, I have to fight to get hooked on the hyper rattle.
@@TomBoley Thank you, sir. I kind of thought that might be it. Went out last night and caught a few walleye and smallies on the same hyper rattle. Really windy and trolling motor is in the shop. That was a heck of a challenge.
Always bugged me that my H-Bird doesn't have a split view with 2D on the right and Map on left. At lease I don't think it does - didn't see this option under 'hidden.' Feel like there is a slight delay in the return with 2D on left as the immediate return is covered by the right side (map).
If this helps...I’ve been fishing 30’ and the glide takes to long to get down with the 10g weight. The rattle is where it’s at. Now I will try the glide over weeds??
Just stumbled onto this channel. This guy wins my vote for the most useful information per minute of video.
You know you are putting out good videos when Ron Lindner shares it on FB. Congrats Tom!
LOVE this.

Best most informative walleye information videos I have EVER watched. Thank you!
Catching walleye is like a video game for you....great job 👏 Tom!!
Good video. Now all I need is 5k worth of electronics and some 12 dollar Hyperrattles! 😂
Amazing video your the al linder of walleye fishing hands down
Wait, isn’t Al Linder the Al Linder of walleye fishing..?
Thank for the video! Currently watching it while watching geese for ND opener! Thanks for making the wait entertaining
This style of fishing is so effective. So glad you introduced me to it in these videos ! I find the Acme Hyper Rattle is great !

Mr Tom walleye! Great video! Pmytuming waiting on you Tom
Awesome!!!! Can’t wait for Saturday to try this 🤗
yea, try it on Lake Chapin in SW michigan and go home crying. Anything is easy where there is fish. True story.
Thanks Tom! This technique is a lot of fun.👍
Awesome stuff man. Keep up the great content 🙌🏻
I look forward to your new vids everyday!
Going to the store in the morning!!!
Trying this for the 1st time Saturday. Hoping to get my 1st Walleye!
Love this style jigging...spot and drop 😀👍
Have you used the rapalla V blade? If so, any thoughts on it? I have found it to for sure be a great multi-species bait for sure this summer

Hasn't worked for me yet on the purple hyper rattle. I'll try that white color.
As always....Great stuff !
Ever fish Diamond Lake in Bayfield County? Very deep and clear lake (85 feet) super touch, test the best walleye fisherman.
Nice vid...we call that snap jigging...speed jigging for me is in deeper water where I drop a jig to the bottom and speed jig it all the way back up
thanks for the mono tip, i'll try it out next trip.
Thanks TOM 😎👍🏻🌟🎣
Can you do this on dirtier water like the Mississippi?
That's incredible!
How does this work in very stained water say less than 2ft of clarity?

I fish this mainly in rocks. Obviously like anything else it does snag up ...most the time you can get it out
Thanks for the reply Tom. Time to start practicing!
What makes you choose to do this vs a slip bobber rig or any other setup when you know exactly where the fish are setup and you’re dropping bait in front of their faces? Preference? Or fish behavior? Does it matter?
It’s all about timing, “ this bite is really heating up” as he says
It seems to be depth related. This was the fish out in deeper water of 20 feet+ and the slip bobber fish were in about 15 feet or less.
Pretty much take your best guess. As long as I know you are on fish try things until it clicks

Down here in Green Bay it five walleye and then winnebago is three walleye

Do hyper rattles and jigging raps seem to work equally well or are there situations in which you would use one vs the other?
Wondering the same thing
Awesome. Thanks !

Hey Tom, loved your video! Watched it several times. Could not find 1 ounce hyper rattles anywhere. Ended up picking up a couple of big hyper glides

No flip-in's and shoes on......... that hook you stepped on must have stung pretty bad!
How often do you snap your line or your uni knot and lose one of these baits? I imagine it has to happen if you’re doing this in rock areas after awhile.
Will you do a video on fishing lakes with low walleye numbers, say 50 total on the survey?
Yea he should do that
Right on BROTHER! Everybody is cool when there are 8-12 Walleye per acre. Notice they never tell you where they are fishing. Just another "Look at me" video. Sad...
No way bro, boley is legit. Amazing angler on good bodies of water.
That lake is surveyed at 1.2 adult walleye per acre. It's a 6000 acre lake.
Most lakes on my area are between 1 and 3 adults per acre.
Hi Tom can i use This technique in very stain water how they see them?
Same fishing techniques on this style of fishing with jigging raps?
Pretty much, yeah. I like acme more than the jigging raps, but ya gotta change it up and see what works.
Do you ever tip the treble hook with a minnow head?
snap fishing ...does it work on rivers with fairly strong currents?
Great vid
Tom, I have a fishing question for you. How do you keep your hat from flying off when zooming across the lake? @0:06
Hat down, head down. If the bill is more down the wind pushes it down more. If the bill is up the wind will catch and blow it up off your head. Simple as that.
glue
If you notice he’s never not wearing that old hat. Probably weaved into his hair 😂
I suggested to use rap jig for 2 years. I dont catch fish. I use fireside braid 10 lbs line. My pole is med fast action 6' 6". What am I missing?

man i love your videos, did you have any success on lake trouts with this lure when vertical jigging?
Do you get hung up often when you are doing this over bigger rock?

You don’t use a leader on your rig?
Are you able to feel a hit when the line is slack?
Tom on your 2nd pole looks like a spoon do you fish that the same way as the hyper rattle ??
