    Tom, glad to hear that from time-to-time, you also struggle and share that info. Thanks, for sharing the graph info, as always. It has really helped me to trust what I am seeing (and recognize what I am seeing). Keep posting the best fishing videos that are applicable to Northern WI/MN!

    Maybe a long shot but would be awesome if some walleye guide types did a video that is oriented to canoe country (BWCA) tactics during summer. Yes the lakes probably receive less pressure but how to maximize your time fishing catching bigger fish not just dink smallies, how to approach a new lake armed only with lake surveys and message board wisdom. Could assume primary goal is fishing so one would have a decent compact depth finder(minimum)with DI maximum. Anyway...I enjoy your videos Tom they have helped a ton!

    So glad to hear you say that it's been rough for you as well. Was up at Leech same weekend as you and tried Winnie, Bowstring and smaller lakes when it got really windy and tried everything in the box and nothing would get them to bite. Marking them everywhere in the deep 20s laying on the bottom, but nothing would do it.

    Hey Tom, thanks for all the info! I feel a lot more confident in going after these summer walleyes now and I'm hoping to put it all into practice this weekend up in the boundary waters of MN. The way you break it all down and explain exactly what you're doing and thinking is so incredibly helpful! Love the vids my dude!

    If it’s dead clam and fish are found spread out over a spot, pulling slip bobbers .2/.3 mph with trolling motor over an area holding fish is also an effective way. Little more weight needed for this technique keeping the bobber stop at the bobber without pulling it away. The .2/.3 speed is important. Let’s call this technique “ Slip Bobber Creeping “

    Hey Tom - So, how many smallies did you have to work through? I was in the same area as you about an hour before you came out. Caught 5 or 6 smallies in the first 20 minutes or so, then moved on.
    Was going to go back and try again later on but there were two guys in a boat with a tripod and camera. I didn't want them secretly recording all my bad techniques and laughing about it later. So I left.

    Tom, just curious why you didn't try to entice them with a hyper rattle or jigging rap when you had the fish on sonar?

  • @eleganttilemarbleco.1734

    Fishing with the slip bobber and jig, how deep were these fish? I'm assuming all these fish came up from deeper water.

  • @outdoorsman9384
    @outdoorsman9384 4 роки тому +1

    Thomas, I thought you recommend fast jigging rapalas to trigger reaction strikes on lazy fish, or have they been simply saying no to that technique

    Hi Tom - I've been fishing up in the Whitefish chain in MN for a few months now and fishing has been rough to say the least. We're seeing tons of fish on the Hummingbird, but we're also seeing something extremely odd. When you showed the ball of perch, you could actually see it on sonar. Have your ever seen massive clouds (similar to the perch cloud) that may span the entire width of the side scan, appear on down scan, but do not appear on sonar? Thanks for the help, my google-fu has failed me thus far! Keep up the great videos.

    • @wiscofun3028
      @wiscofun3028 4 роки тому

      Your 2D sonar is going to shoot a narrower cone than SI or DI images, and the shallower the water the more true this becomes. So yes.

    If I may ask a question: I thought most pros say when the bite is super tough in the summer then you go for reaction strikes. Mainly the shivers, snap raps or your hyper rattles. So my question is; when your in a rut when do you decide to go super aggressive vs. back to natural? Am I the only one that finds that these messages counter each other sometimes? Thx.

      Tom Boley ok thanks for the answer. It’s not just you that says downsize and simplify. But it’s always tough for me to make that call on the water. I feel like it’s got to be 100% one way or the other if you’re going to give it an honest effort. Thanks again
