Good analysis. Both are very good models by GE, but operating conditions are different. In India, close to 75% of route length is electrified which is probably why fuel tank capacity and range is less. Also, turntables are rare in India and many have been dismantled after phase-out of steam locomotives. Dual cab is therefore the norm in India. WDG4G is a pure freight locomotive which was proposed to be used on the Dedicated Freight corridor for hauling double stack containers. Hence max speed of 100 kmph. However, this route is now being electrified with high-mount catenary and long pantographs. Therefore WDG4G may also become redundant in a few years when 100% electrification is completed in India.
In India many drivers have been complaining against use for single cabin diesel locomotives which has a restrictive view ahead and is a challenge to operate at high speeds. Hence in future all diesel locos will be build with dual cabin. Thanks for posting the video.
GEU40 is a dual purpose locomotive hauling both passengers and freight trains, while WDG4G is a Freight only locomotive..This is the reason GEU40 is a lighter and a faster locomotive. The diesel tank in WDG4G is kept smaller to reduce weight and also Indian Railways has Diesel refueling facilities at all major stations.. In future priority for IR is to shift all locomotives to Electric Traction and Diesel locomotives would be used in limited numbers.. The once now being made in India have a different configuration custom suited for various Railway Zones..
GEU40 designed for mix service while WDG4 only for freight trains . By 2024 IR will have 90% electrified tracks , india has already WAG12 electric loco ( 12000HP) and working on 18000 HP electric loco . You doing good job for railway crazes .
You mis understood some of the terms, like braking power & axel load, axel load for Locomotives should be high, which makes them stable on rails, low axel weight is considered good for rolling stocks but its opposite for Locomotives. Higher axel weight has less wheel slippage and more tractive effort so a heavy Locomotive can pull longer loads, india has longer trains than Pakistan so we see WDG4G to be havier than GEU-40 also condition of the railway line decides designed axel load for a Locomotive. So there is no pass fail between WDG4G & GEU-40 regarding axel loads, even if we consider the fact then AC6000 weights about 192 tons? Obviously GEU-40 & WDG4G aren't that good as of AC6000. Also the difference in braking powers of GEU & WDG are due to the loads which they are going to pull, in Pakistan small loads, less braking power as compared to India. To me there is no such difference between WDG & GEU except dual cabs, rest is same to same, also their max permissible speeds are same. Happy to see good information shared by you for railfans of both countries, thumbs up!

Freight locos are designed for low end torque to pull goods wagons whereas passenger locos are designed for acceleration and speed. They have high end torque. So India has different locos for freight and passenger trains India had experimented long back locos which can be used for freight as well as passenger trains. But it had limitations.
Thank you for this video. While India negotiated for a tech transfer and most of the locomotives will be made in India, Pakistan imported all of the ones in ready state from US. Pakistan should have negotiated a tech transfer so they could be manufactured in future when demand increases. Also why are these powerful beasts used for passenger haul? It's being under utilized. It's true value if for freight services. Anyways, great informative video bhai.

Wag 12 is the most powerful engine of India 12000 hp... After 2-3 yrs.. Indian Railways will stop using diesel engine.. 60-70℅ route has been electrified
Excellent comparison between the two locos, and yes the differences are minor and almost inconsequential. But one glaring difference even apart from the dual cab is about the extra 2000 liter tank in the GEU40 compared to the G4G.. that makes a difference in everyday operations but maybe IR would shrug it off saying “electrification of tracks” so Diesel engines not really required, so maybe this is just like a backup. Bhai, hum Indians kisi de bhi kaam chala lete hain, woh aadat ho chuki hai, so maybe this was what even IR would have thought. Great, informative video, enjoyable!!.
The main purpose of wdg4g to have just 6300 litres was to lower the axle loads... for EDFC and WDFC it's okay can have better fuel capacity and can exceed upto 25tons per axle, but other tracks of IR is limited to 22.5 to 23tons... So keeping that in mind they lowered the fuel capacity to 6300 litres...

India has imported WDG4Gs and making WDG4G in India itself with 6000 HP with motive of retiring all 50 year plus Alcos in 2020 and 2021 itself and IR will covert even WDG4s to electric also. IR has already electrified 80% of total routes and these WDG4Gs are basically doing heavy duty track laying work in Freight dedicated corridors and container transport. WDG4G speed can be fixed upto 130 KM but IR preferred 100 KM speed for hauling lengthy freight trains. At present in many places. E locos are piggy riding behind D locos in short diesel lines of IR. Very good quality video and truly narrated facts

Less axle load doesn't mean it will have wheel slip issues ? I heard an Indian railways engineer saying they prefer heavier locomotives for freight for the same reason.
Useful information ....
Nice vidio
Love from 🇮🇳
Thanks
Excellent video despite no English subtitles for the commentary. I believe Indian Railways only had the first few built in the USA and the rest were built under licence in India? PR had the entire 9000 class built in the USA? Both fairly equal in power/performance data, however I would go with the WDG4G for dual cab convenience. Thanks Faheem.
40 nos were made in USA and rest 660 will be made in India
PR entire fleet of 55 nos of locomotives were made in USA
Thank you sir
@@SitesandSounds ye sab band honewala hai aur jo band honewala hai tum uska compare kar rahe ho 🤔🤣😁
I don't think IR prioritises diesel engines anymore. IR has already electrified 65% of it's route length.
Majority of the hauling is done by wag 9 and wag 12.
I think these engines were procured for the fringe lines.
Yes
Its an agreement for manufacturing 1000 locomotives out of which 700 4500HP and 300 nos of 6000 HP single cab to completed by 2028.
One of the best deal India has ever done....as per my POV

Bro! Its an informative video.. i pray that pk railway become profitable organization ameen
It is a good companion video.
Folks, it is a comparison of two locomotives , not railways. As a Pakistani I think Indian Railways may be superior in many aspects than Pakistani Railways.

Recently india introduce his own engine for dffcil track they are more powerful than wdg& g40

Strongest Diesel locomotive WDG6G ( 6000hp)
Strongest electric locomotive WAG12B (12000hp)
High speed electric locomotive WAP 5 (max speed =225 Kmph)

Indian railway bought WDG4G for fright train only and for DFC 2 haul double stack containers trains and it us also 4 stroke engine which reduce 50% less pollution then conventional 2 stroke diesel locomotives.

You should make a series on Indian locomotives too.

Bro geu 40 bhi freight ky liye hi hai due to loco kam hai Pakistan ky pass so isiliye geu 40 ko lgaya jata passenger mein
Thanks for this Authentic information Great ❤️ Video 📹
Freight locos are designed for low end torque to pull goods wagons
whereas passenger locos are designed for acceleration and speed. They have high end torque.
So India has different locos for freight and passenger trains
India had experimented long back locos which can be used for freight as well as passenger trains. But it had limitations.
Thanks

Thank you for this video. While India negotiated for a tech transfer and most of the locomotives will be made in India, Pakistan imported all of the ones in ready state from US. Pakistan should have negotiated a tech transfer so they could be manufactured in future when demand increases.
Also why are these powerful beasts used for passenger haul? It's being under utilized. It's true value if for freight services. Anyways, great informative video bhai.
Thank you sir
TOT is best option and INDIA did very well, $2.5B project is a one of the big project for GE....and that big project opened the door for India to build GE locomotive by their own hands,
PR dont have much money to invest in locomotive,s and GE will not transfer its technology on just these smaller orders,
Lacking of passenger train locomotives is one of the main reason....that's why GEU40 is being used with Express trains
@@SitesandSounds 👍👍

India me good engine aur express train ka engine alag alag hota hai
zabardast video Faheem bhai !! Wonder why WDG4G was not upgraded to similar specifications as GEU40 !!
Bro pehli bat to wdg4G kewal special freight ke liye he pakistan ne mix use ke liye he hmne kewal specific requirements ke liye enko liya jitni jarurat utni
Eske wdg6g he esase advance
And most important thing ye diesel loco 2024 india 100% electrification kr dega isliye hm log powerful electric engine wag9 and wag12 bna rye he or sabhi india me ye kuch sal bad bass extra use ke liye pade rahenge
Thanks for this video
One more thanks to our Pakistani people for a wise decision in procuring these engine from GE .

Thank you
The main purpose of wdg4g to have just 6300 litres was to lower the axle loads... for EDFC and WDFC it's okay can have better fuel capacity and can exceed upto 25tons per axle, but other tracks of IR is limited to 22.5 to 23tons... So keeping that in mind they lowered the fuel capacity to 6300 litres...
@@nabarunbiswas7462 oh ok, thanks, didn’t know this. Are the EDFC and WDFC actually generating any revenue for IR?.
@@sunboat800 currently both the DFC are partially operational, not at full potential... based on that, yes it is generating revenue... don't know the exact amount...

Very interesting and informative video. Keep it up. Why Pakistan railways did not add condition of transfer of technology in this agreement to build these engines in Pakistan like India did?? Any news regarding refurbishment of ZCU and DPU? Ya in engines ko bhool jain?
Because of very smaller order
Only $400Million project infront of $2.5billion of Indian Railways,
TOT is must required but GE will not handover to us easily against these small orders......that's what my POV is..
DPU are no more...not part of any meetings
and ZCU case us very different and ridiculous too....PR did not announced it publicly regarding the current conditions of these locomotives, whom to blame?.... are these really substandard locomotives or we didn't maintained it accordingly....that's why they are just pulling out the spares from grounded locos to keep them rolling on track.... shameful
@@SitesandSoundsDPU and ZCU engines are sub standard and examples of curroption. HGMU engines are older but a good quality engines and our railway staff still manage to run these. I think sub standard of the engines is the main issue

In the end uncle sam had the last laugh
You are absolutely right. You see Uncle Sam is the only person to laugh because they are good in everything in respect to engineering, the only countries that know how to make this tech are USA EU Russia Japan that’s it. Other countries have learnt from them. Their is no need to reinvent the wheel, but importing units in whole for an entire fleet is bad idea. Indians imported some units to know the latest technology which might takes 10 years for us to develop ourselves.
Love from Indian raifans to all pakistani raifans

D = Diesal powered
G = Goods train locomotive i. e pulling power is more and speed acceleration is slow (if it is P which is passenger locomotive speed acceleration is high )

There are many misleading info.. First of all this engine doesn't run all over the India.. And most powerful engine of India is wag 12 .. And in 2-3 yrs ir will stop using diesel engine.. All route will be electrified..
Thank you very much brother for these information's we are Proud of you

Amazing Sirji... Love from INDIA ❤️❤️❤️

At the best IR uses these WDG4G in freight dedicated corridors and in NE railway diesel lines. Jai hind
