A million times over- thank you!!!! I was able to remove the old broken mirror and now just waiting for Amazon to deliver my new one for less than $50.
Found one for $20 on eBay, probably won’t last but it’ll work for now.. I thought I had to change out the entire side mirror assembly until I found your video.. Thanks a bunch brother! Saved me $$$...
Just today I replace a shattered passenger side mirror on my low miles 2006 Caddy CTS Sport Luxury. The mirror and backing was under $20. I had already peeled off the glass and foam backing before the glass arrived. The mirror had separated by the blow it took. I had decided to use my truth all around tool, my heat gun. A little scraping and a lot of GooGone. I did see where I was supposed to alloy the glass right over the broken mirror. That would look awful, though. My method looks factory. I did enjoy you video because it made me feel seriously clever!
Thanks so much for adding this video, Yours was the first one that I found because you took the time to make one on this subject. I have a 2004 Chevy Avalanche and broke the mirror part but not the housing so, this video on just replacing that part was awesome! I hope that you recover fully and I look forward to your next one, Thanks so much!
Thank you for doing this. I have to do this to my 2002 Chevy Silverado that has the drivers side mirror broken. I called a few repair places to hear them say that it couldn't be replaced without the whole housing. I found your video and can see they are full of crap, it is indeed out there and easy to do yourself so you are not taken advantage of by a repair shop. Thank you again.
I really thank this Man for doing this video and I hope he doesn't mind my input to help. The car manufacturer did not care they were very ready to throw me as the customer under the bus after I spent $50thousand to buy the car and make all kinds of drama to just give the person the part number strong arming a sale a a ridiculous amount of money on this item. For even the sake of recycling that this world is in need of please give us the part numbers while good used parts that can help.
Thanks Brian, great video presentation. I too saved hundreds by buying the glass for my 05 Avalanche on eBay for $14 and using your instructions to replace it. My glass cracked from behind when using power folding feature in sub-zero temps. There's no excuse for not knowing how to use a screwdriver. Saved $280. Thanks again and be well brother.
Thank you!! I have a similar issue with my mirror and looking to replace it… these labor costs are outrageous for a simple install, which is $220 on and $85 part😣🤦🏾♀️😒 watching your video has made me feel confident that I can do this myself😊
Thanks for posting this. It helped me to install a non-heated and non signaled version of this mirror glass only in a 1999 Chevy Silverado. I had no instructions and could not find any until your video popped up on You Tube! Again thanks for posting this !
If your vehicle is a bit older or you're having trouble locating replacement glass, go to a local glass or mirror shop, and they will make a template and cut a new piece of glass from scratch. Did this for our 96 Suburban and the shop only charged $20, now the mirrors good as new.
Thanks million! Like you, I had a stroke three years ago and replaced it with one hand. We're to damn young to have any strokes other than a bad game of golf!
'Thanks, you just saved me a lot of time and frustration. I just backed my 05 Yukon's mirror into a concrete decorative awning and cracked the damn fancy mirror with signal and heat and xray vision built in. I bought the replacement part on ebay for $168 Kool Vue CV49GL-S. I appreciate the effort and quality video!!! Thanks again. WT
A really useful video, thanks for posting. I'm in the UK, I have a German built Opel Vectra which, like your Chevy, is a GM car. The mirror fittings are very similar. No double sided sticky pads, just a series of clips arranged in a circle and two electrical connections. I'm replacing the glass on the drivers door mirror tomorrow, it was good to watch you doing this so I could see how the clipping-in works. No gasket came with my glass, which cost me only £9 including postage off eBay.
Damn. I was stressing about this. My 2500 HD got water behind the film somehow. Don't wanna go into winter that way. Pretty sure you saved me. Thanks brother! Pretty sure I can handle it now! God bless.
Excellent. Video I put mines on by watxhing your video and one thing i will like to sharr is that i got my heated mirror with the signal sign on ebay for $25.00 it was on sale from the regular price of $34.99. Gos Bless and Thanks again.
Sorry to hear that you had a stroke. Thank you for the awesome video because all I was getting told is i will have to buy the whole mirror Assembly and I would have to get repainted.
Thanks, Brian. Great video. Nice and easy instructions. The little tabs that came with my mirror for the heating element were a bit too wide so I ground them down a bit with my grinder. Whole job took 10 minutes. Thanks again.
Thank you for the video. I just came home from the store where they stole my side mirror glass from my suburban. Glad to see it can be replaced fairly easy. Thanks again for the video tutorial.
Thanks for the video. I saw a different one saying to peal off the back part of the housing, which could end up messing up the housing....so I like your way much better! Found aftermarket replacement for $18, so I will order the part and use your magic ! Thanks so much!
Great Video! I've been looking for some guidance to replace my side mirror glass and most of what I got shows you how to remove the entire housing or scrape the shards off and paste a glass without a backing plate. All I want to do is to remove the broken glass on its backing plate and pop in the replacement one. That's exactly what you did. Now that I know that prying it with a screw driver wont break it...I'm gonna go ahead with confidence. Thanks Brian!
thank you I just broke the side view mirror this morning...totally shattered backing out of my garage...part ordered...I'll install it myself or my boyfriend will...thx!!!
Thank you I was trying to figure this mirror thing out .for a year I didn’t know you can only replace the glass mirror thanks.you did it with one one hand and holding the camera you are the man thanks for this great video 💪🏻👍
thanks for the tutorial Brian, added some LED blinkers to my '01 sierra, tricky part was to remove the glass without breaking :) used a long flat head and popped about 6-7 tabs and then it just came right out.
I ordered a used mirror on Ebay then watched this video on how to remove the mirror. I wish I would have watched this video first because I could have just swapped my mirror with the truck down the street if I knew it were so easy to remove. Just joking. Lol. Helpful video. I had my "new" mirror on about 5 minutes after the postman dropped it off. Thx.
If you think about it this is still a dj video. A car is a tool you use for your equipment. Nothing like rolling to a gig with busted mirrors. No way keep professional. Thanks for sharing Brian.
Job done! As briansredd says, it is so easy. It took me a few minutes. With some GM cars, such as my Vectra, there is a little metal clip which you need to prise out of the old mirror and pop it into the new one.
Quick, direct, informative. Good tip on the foam gasket. Thanks for making the video and not letting life slow you down! Well done.
Thank you, my mirror for a 2003 Chevy Silverado Truck has turned a hazy yellow color, now I know I can just replace it!
A million times over- thank you!!!! I was able to remove the old broken mirror and now just waiting for Amazon to deliver my new one for less than $50.

Quick, easy, straight to the point. The best kind of videos, thank you.

Again thanks for posting this !
a lot of the stuff on these vehicles is just pry off/pop on... it's always good to confirm which bits there are though. good to know!

About to do the same on our 01 YUKON. Same mirror without the blinker. Thanks so much for the video. Great job!

This worked perfectly on my 2003 Tahoe. I bought a replacement glass on line` for less than $20.00.

Thanks, Brian. Great video. Nice and easy instructions. The little tabs that came with my mirror for the heating element were a bit too wide so I ground them down a bit with my grinder. Whole job took 10 minutes. Thanks again.

Same thing happened to me. One thing I forgot to do is etch "F@&k you" in the back of the new mirror in case it happens again.
I'm amazed it popped off and on that easy. Got a new mirror on EBay for $13.80 heated but luckily I don't have the turn signal option.
Great tutorial! Couldn't find out how to replace this anywhere on the net. Thanks

You da Man Behind The Man. 💪
