wow! I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it. I use turbo yeast myself for most of my fermentations, but now am shifting back to DADY yeast...to confirm for myself if there is any taste difference and now, to see the time difference. Another good job mate! You do make this hobby interesting!
It was interesting to see how a dried packet of yeast would start to work this quickly and so rapidly once it was introduced to the Sugar Wash. I’m not going ‘off’ Turbo Yeast just yet, but it’s a nice learning curve to try other types of simple Washes, like what you’ve done/doing. I do have another ‘abnormal’ Wash video coming soon. But I guess you wouldn’t expect anything else from me 😂 Then there will be a little comparison video to boot.
Pretty cool. I am interested in how long it takes to “fully ferment” and what the end product is like. If you could compare to the end product of your kale wash that would be really cool. You’d still need to let it settle, even if it did run to dry in 24 hours though, so it’s a funny value proposition they sell… another great video young man! Keep ‘em coming!
It was informative. Was generally curious about 24. h. Always seemed a bit gimmicky, so I never bothered. Bet the smell in the home was wicked. Looking forward to your opinion as you run it. Great upload. Thanks ....
Throughout the Fermenting time it didn’t smell bad at all. Mind you my nose doesn’t work most of the time, so I can’t say for sure 😂 I also can’t wait to get this Distilled, so stay tuned for that outcome.
I have not yet tried the same brand I bought, as mentioned in these posts I am keen to understand what the finished product would taste like, say compared to Angel (which is my go-to). Thanks for the video, great work understand the effort these take to produce!
Did you use to tap water or bottle to make your wash I’ve looked on line and have never really got a good answer to if you can use tap with turbo yeast
Can you just use it and or drink it when gravity has hit 14% but is still going , is it drinkable? I used some turbo yeast on cider and from alcohol standpoint it would be ready for me but the fermentation is still going
You can consume it, yes, but it would taste awful as a Sugar Wash. You must know that bottling a dink while it’s still fermenting can lead to sealed bottles exploding. But then that’s how carbonated drinks, like some beers, ciders, wines etc are made. If you are using Turbo Yeast in your cider I would definitely let it fully ferment, and if you want it fizzy, back sweeten with a very small amount of sugar, like 1/2 tsp per pint. That is a good way to make it fizzy but in a more safe and controlled manner. Another tip…try to be patient and do you best not to rush the brewing process.
I’m the wrong person to ask 😆 There’s many Beer kits out there to try. But if you’ve already getting/got the kit then there’s plenty of Ale yeasts out there to choose from.
I've read many of the comments and see that you have already answered the "how did it smell" question with a disappointing "my nose doesn't work". The Mrs. didn't throw a shoe at you, I reckon? That's how I gauge successful fermentation.
Well I could detect anything untoward. And yep, if there was something really amiss, I’d expect questions would have been asked if everything was ‘ok’ with the fermenting bucket 😂
My thinking is, if I chuck in the odd chuckle here and there, then most people might be distracted and ignore the fact that I don’t actually know what I’m doing 😂
Personally, I gave away all the turbo's after Georges' recommendations of the Angels yeasts. I finally found one of those "pumpy-pumpy" devices to extract the Co2 from the 1st round of Ginger wine. Your Werthers gloop turned out a hoot for the younger "shooters" I am financing, and the Kale swamp water is ready to 4 plate when I get around to it. Fark the pre-packaged turbo reviews, their results are crap. Like your country's choice of cricket Captain more of your left field quirky experiments/recipes. Forward on you pommy bastard. :)
You don’t pull any punches do you 😂 At least you’re trying new stuff. But generally speaking 99% of what I do turns out complete rubbish or somebody else has already done it better. You have been warned 🤣🤣
Nope, never gone near anything like that. You’ve got to remember I am a lazy idiot. The closest I’ve got was to start a UJSSM. And when I say start I mean, the Corn got as far as going into the bucket for a few hours, then it was chucked out for the chicken to eat.
Kveik is a beast! I only use Kveik in my beer brewing and rum-wash, but I need to try it in sugar-wash soon. 12 ours into the fermentation I skim of the the top and put it on waxed paper and let it dry with hot air in the oven, not to hot off course. I've used only one package of Kveik Voss on my last 11 batches with this method of harvesting the yeast. And I now have more than triple the amount of yeast that I started with. Kveik gives a lot of fruity flavors and in my opinion is perfect for a lot of beers whisky and rum. I highly recommend trying some Kveik 🙂

Sorry for the very late reply. And I suspect you know the answer by now….. yes you can use it for making Wine, I have done this before. But it’s not really necessary. You see, wine needs a maturing time to come good and definitely doesn’t need to be rushed.

Yes, when I get the time, I will distil this and compare it to the others I have.

How long was the full fermentation? I used still spirits fast yeast once witch is ment to be 24hr but turned out to be around 48hrs
Nice video. Havent been using this stuff since i first started the hobby. But impressive results! Curious about the taste though
I’ve got to save back some of my other Neutral Spirit Distillations before I forget, and use it all up, but then I’ll do a comparison vid for sure!

I didn't believe that it really worked so fast, you proved it does 👍 (it was entertaining)
Yeah I was pretty impressed that it got over 11% in that time.
Definitely using this for my sacrificial run! I'm a bit impatient...
Aren’t we all! 😆 Fermenting always seems to take for ever, even though it’s actually normally just a week and couple of days to Clear it.

Thank you sir
Question is it safe will be a methanol on fermentation?
Impressive and entertaining! Looking forward to getting your thoughts on the final product.
Me too. It’s obviously finished fermenting now, so it’s just getting time to Distil it and then (to quote a large Austrian)…….”I’ll be back” 😉😎

Yes you can…….but personally I would never use it for that purpose in Beer or Wine.
