      @@singlefather01 I hope not. He created his life goal plan at the age of 16, and it was impressive and remarkable that he has achieved almost all of them, i.e. debut in the MLB, for one. In his plan, he targets the body preparation to be completed by the age of 32 (or 30? I forgot). So he is still in his body-building phase. In fact, he is still training himself in his way, such as the 200kg barrel lifing 2 hours on a daily basis. And his sholders and hip joints are extremely flexible, his father noticed it and that's how he was able to take advantage of the flexibility and strength of his unique body.

However, there is something to be said about a guy who was hitting more HRs than entire teams like Babe did, but you could also look at that as a lower level of skill in that era. @@codyj9983 -- Keep in mind that Babe Ruth has more home runs per at bat than any player in history, except Mark McGwire and Ruth hit very long home runs. I mean, without steroids he was hitting some of the longest in history. And he hit for a high average. In comparison to the players of his time he was well ahead of everyone else.
      You also have to factor in medicine, equipment and training techniques. Shohei has already undergone surgery to his elbow and knee. Tommy John surgery wasn't available in Babe Ruth's day. These are all factors that allow players today to play longer and better.

    Single handedly carrying his team into playoff contention day after day. Even though they're on the outside looking in they stand a chance if he can maintain his insane level of play. His teammates must elevate their play if they are to make it. Ohtani definitely is deserving of all the good things headed his way.

      @NotedPine 10 місяців тому +3

      @@DefiSenpai yeah, it’s for leverage. For me, It took me a long time to get comfortable with it because my timing was always weird. Trying to time lifting your foot when the pitcher throws. My theory is he doesn’t do it so he can just focus on hitting. He turns his front foot slightly before the pitch to generate the same leverage without lifting his front foot, thus eliminating the effort of timing. Just my theory though lol

    • @JaredHettler
      @JaredHettler 10 місяців тому +1

      It's just a simple approach. Everybody's timing and load mechanics are different. Pujols used to go with a no stride load sometimes.

    • @wilburwood8261
      @wilburwood8261 10 місяців тому +3

      Nope.
      Ohtani used to have a high leg kick in Japan.
      That all changed in spring training in 2018.
      He performed awful initially when he came to the US, so he adapted the no kick stance from Albert Pujols.
      Rest is history.
      This is very famous in Japan, that he changed his stance.
      I guess not so much in the US.

    He didn't win a single weekly or monthly award last season. They gave it to the guy with the highest OPS while completely ignoring Ohtani's pitching stats. Writers don't care about him doing unbelievable and unrepeatable things, just look at last year's MVP voting where he only got 2(!!!)votes for 1st place. Luckily in the future he will be regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all times and those writers will be long forgotten.

      Judge hitting 62 is great but I really don't think it beats out what Shohei did even last year. Judge is one guy in right field. He did provide enough for two but Shohei provided enough value for two hitters and almost 2 pitchers. How are the writers not seeing this? They care too much about their old man counting stats or breaking arbitrary home run records. I'm not trying to disrespect Judge or the season he had. He definitely deserves an MVP but I think he deserves 2017 more than he did last years.

    • @bruceli853

    • @JaredHettler
      @JaredHettler 10 місяців тому

      Lol dude. Nobody is taking Ohtani for granted. The reason he only got 2 votes is because Judge literally hit 28 more homeruns than him. 40 more RBIs. Scored 40 more runs. Hit .40 higher batting average. Won the Wilson defensive player of the year. Had a higher WAR. Way higher OPS. And oh yeah, there's the fact that he broke a 56 year old record. They wisely realized that Ohtani's pitching doesn't overcome that overwhelming amount of offense Judge lapped him by.
