That's because on the flat twin the Pistons rise and fall at the same time on most of the twins they don't some do but a horizontal oppose is nothing like a V-Twin in either configuration as far as sound goes
I think the opposed twin sounds even better than the V-Twin does, personally. Regardless, nothing sounds quite as good as a twin cylinder engine or a V-8 engine.
i have a similar Murray mine was the one that came with an 11 HP single cyl Flathead and it had the shifter right in front of the seat when i got it the 11 HP was missing so i went to the junkyard and got a 12.5 single cylinder Flathead and i kept the original 4 speed peerless transaxle
Laughs in dual Harley exhaust pipes. In all seriousness though I have the exact same mower and I replaced the rear end with a three wheeler axle and a torque converter. It goes 35mph and sounds awesome! I need to get a bigger carb though the mikuni I have on it now is not really enough to feed her. Either way nice setup!
How did you adapt the air cleaner? I run my 18 horse garden tractor on what can be a very dusty lot. I dont necessarily like the factory airbox setup and am tired of changing the filter so constantly..
when i took the factory one off the top of the carb was the right diameter that cold air intake was and i just cut a spot on the intake tube for the choke to still work then just hose clamped it on
BemidjiRednecksDoingShit that's a sure sign of a carb issue (clogged jet causing a lean mixture). You need to take the carb off and clean the bowl and jets, I guarantee you will find it clogged with crap.
I have an engine like that and I put a new coil on it and couldn't get it to fire put another coil on it and I found out it was the magnets good engine though
I suggest getting a new starter motor or at least get an experienced lawn mower mechanic to check out the turning ease of your fly wheel. Mine (Sears LT 1000 w/Briggs and Stratton dual cylinder 19.5hp) turns over just as easy as this one does.,
Opposed twin B&S engines are HORRIBLE about starting back up when the engine's still hot. You need a top-dog battery and a "like-new" starter. Turns out the problem is the r.p.m. cranking speed is just barely enough to make the plugs fire adequately. When I buy a new 300 CCA battery it solves it every time (I also rebuild the starter the same time I get another battery). The coil is a single unit that fires twice as often as a single cylinder. Newer twin engines all use 1 coil per cylinder, then you're not sacrificing 180 degrees of rotation in relation to the flywheel magnet which energizes the coil as it passes by. Also, the double wire coil will wear out faster (at least in theory, lol).... Between the things I said, as well as keeping the spark plugs cleaned & gapped or replaced. I've got the 14 and the 18, and I LOVE how smooth they run, and you can feel the ground shake a little under your feet.
Sounds like ass and wont start well and its a piss ass engine my oppised twin cranks out over 50 hp dont have a video of the new pipes yet im putting a chain drive system on it but dude get bigger pipes and more power
The flat twin has a completely different style and sound than the v twin. But yours sounds great 👍

I gotta do this to my craftsman, it's got a 21horse opposed twin

The shifter in front If the see is no joke called the nut buster shifter

I bet those kinks and angled cuts make it gain at east 20 hp.
+Wesley Dyck lol more like lose lol some people don't understand air flow
Motortrend engine masters proved that horse power loss from dents and kinks is almost nothing
Rob Random Stuff okay and i bet it loses enough to make it worth it
027 - SpeedyRaceTeam - Noah they bashed the shit out some v8 headers, only about 50% of the previous flow and they only lost about .5 hp on the dyno
Rob Random Stuff wow i never thought it would make that much difference
Sounds like a hot rod automobile. I like it !
I would install a restrictor on the exhaust. Those engines require just a wee bit of back pressure to run properly.
You are correct and too much will blow a head gasket also , good advice
I almost have the same lawn mower
Gotta love Briggs :D
That sounds sick
nice sound

Not the best runnin tho lol
That’s what I was thinking lol
i hope my mower sounds like this
If you like the sound of Harley Davidson! Cool man!
Ae thoses Harley pipes?
Nice mower man get some knobby tires
URAL SOUND
float dont bore the jet some already did
dude! what size battery is in it?
My built opposed twin refuses to start in the cold lol
my mower has a Mac 2 18hp Briggs and I have to have the choke on or else it surges and kills the motor by itself. what should I do?
maybe A/F ratio is lean
BemidjiRednecksDoingShit that's a sure sign of a carb issue (clogged jet causing a lean mixture). You need to take the carb off and clean the bowl and jets, I guarantee you will find it clogged with crap.
Carburetor is restricted....has crap somewhere in a jet and/or emulsion tube.
Mine sounds way better than that dude did you change the pulleys on that ??
I have an engine like that and I put a new coil on it and couldn't get it to fire put another coil on it and I found out it was the magnets good engine though
how dose that turn over so fast my 16.5hp hardly turns over at all

Yours is fine he has low compression that is why it sounds like it wants to die
Some starters are better than others and some are wired with better wire or battery
@@tbah9402 it doesn't have low compression nor does it sound like it's going to die you don't know what you're talking about
What size pipe is that?
Looks awesome except I'm not a fan of that air filter sticking out of the hood
Wait until I upload mine , 18.5 hp Briggs and Stratton opposed twin lol
I see burnt calves in the future!
that sound
How did u mount that air intake on
keeps tires warm in the winter hhaha
sounds like my onan, with muffler
sounds vw almost
so now its got 10 to 12 hp & runs lean as hell.noise dont make power, a well engineered system does.
Dude, it's ok. Lol I was like 15 when I did this. Just a kid having fun with friends.
Just got a 479cc for my go kart. How do i get it to sound like a harley? What is this opposed exhaust im hearing about
Its an opposed twin cylinder. Just the style engine it is. There's single cylinder, v twin, dual opposed ect.. Just the type of engine it is
14hp twin? Must have two tiny pistons
Model 400707.
I have it
The pistons are like 4 inches
lol ! Love it !
I didn't know they made such weak 14hp one I thought it was 18-22
I think there are also 12HP versions. Those are older models though
is not weak, c'mon now
@@motormouth2472 yea, I have a 12.5hp horizontal shaft on a Snapper LT12.
@@M.TTT. Yeah pretty small for the Opposed Twins but still very reliable engines from what I've seen
Sounds like it's running a modified cam.
Sounds like a Harley
Sounds decent, I have the same mower lol check out my exhaust;)
1997cr80r omg must have tiny pistons
+Ernie lucas
xD
The pitons are bigger than your car pistons at 4 and a half inchs
Yep sounds like a Murray
Murray's are weak and cheaply made they didnt put those engines in them
@@tbah9402 some have them
Thay did Murray makes really good quality mowers
You must get bad headaches from the exhaust.
Thats terrible you have to crank it that long
Yeah my like 10+ year old Briggs takes 1 second for it to start up
My 25 year old Kohler Magnum 20 pops right off, even when it's cold out.
Mine takes that long. Only because i shut the gas off and let it run dry lol.

I could probably beat your briggs and stratton opposed twin with a18.5 hp big block opposed twin
