I have a fan off a hydro rear end that I had laying around and put it on the flywheel too keep my opposed twin cooler, and it works great, I may need to do an exhaust soon too.
My man is over here welding in crocks and socks 😂 the level of dgaf is strong! That came out lookin sick! Matches the whole shape of the engine. And you can still unbolt it, which is like the hardest part about making exhaust imo. It's crazy what an X, H, or your Chevron pipe, does for the sound. If later down the line you connect the exhaust into one tailpipe, then it will also benefit the power thru the scavenging effect. Cherry Bombs are my go-to "muffler." They're inexpensive, come in any and every size possible, AND they come with a sticker. The straight six in my '89 f150 has a Walker down pipe, no cats, then goes into an 18" long cherry bomb, and since it was so dam loud, i stuck another 12" cherry bomb right after the first one haha
Alright! I am also probably going to make the exhaust like the off-road mower by making it come out the side from a 2 inch pipe but do dual exhaust, one on each side on the racing mower. The reason I want to run it into a 2 inch pipe is to give it a deep tone rather than a popping sound. Since it is summer I got a lot of plans and ideas lol.
There will be a part 2 to this video so stay untuned! I did also however take the cherrybomb glasspack muffler out of my truck and put in a straight pipe because it wasn't as loud as I wanted it lol, now it is just only cats. It has a pretty good sound to it and this is as loud as I am going because fully straight pipe on these motors sounds like crap in my opinion. I forgot to put it in this video but oh well that's what the comments are for!
Dang son you did a great job on that exhaust system it sounds really good and I dearly love those old opposed twins I've got one out back its 18 horsepower and I got an old John Deere 150 out here Hydro that I'm going to put on there just to haul this old man's butt back and forth on the place here But I will definitely put an exhaust system like you got on there because I love to hear them things bark. Thanks for a great video. You're young keep doing the things you're doing and you one day will end up a happy old man that's learning from the younger kids!
The stock airbox is kinda like that because the fan blows into it but I can probably make it more forced inducted, it is just kinda blowing in there right now lol. Great idea I might do that!
I was thinkin about runnin forced induction through mine, cuz my hood has a hole for a hood stack, but i decided maybe forced induction could work, plus the hot rod aesthetic would give the racing mower a mean look.
I stuck a hood scoop on mine cause the louvers on top let rain in and the engine and air filter get wet. Does nothing for power on mine tho, just the inlet for the cooling.
I have a 20hp that is straight pipe (just og headers that were slid out of the muffler). It's never too loud! Well I live outside city limits so I go hog wild at like 7:30 XD

Thank you! I got another video coming out on my off-road lawnmower soon! These flat heads do sound better than some OHVs lol.
You should put a forced induction blower scoop on the racing mower next, i think that would give it a hot rod look

LoL!
You cant be serious with that 90° degree right out of the port. Redo that
Yeah I know but, it is what I had laying around and it works. Its not a super high performance engine so it’ll be alright.
