I think people are going to suggest the obvious - Saddle Mountain opened back up after repairing fire damage and Silver Creek Falls is not far with a great campground or even cabins. Table Rock is near there outside of Molalla and there is a bunch of newer campgrounds along the Molalla River; it only takes about 45 minutes to get to the top, don't try and cheat the scree just stick to the switchbacks and you're fine.
Thanks for showcasing Stub - it's kind of a showpiece and highly accessible, great promotion for not only outdoor active tourism but conservation as well.
Fort Stevens is amazing, the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area is pretty cool, Oregon also has the world's largest "dark sky sanctuary" over in eastern Oregon. There are over 40 functional hot springs in Oregon, too. The entire coastline is public property - no fences, no corporate pollution, eat all the seafood. 🙂
Don't forget to ask about lava tubes and very large holes in the ground!

RV Jedeye....I have owned 3 RV's....two Class C & one TT. Still use a Class C. I'd like to recommend that whenever you leave your site with the awning extended from the RV, that you retract the awning. One never knows when a gust of wind might come up, or a branch will fall. This will protect your awning! Best regards. Dave

I am impressed with the space between campsites! I told my husband about this and he said he had looked at it already. I'll definitely be showing him the footage of the campground. I love that there are trails and that a rail trail is easily accessible! I thought I saw another comment below that mentioned Ft. Stevens State Park near Astoria, OR. Highly recommend that one too. There is so much to see in that area. If you do check out Ft. Stevens, just an fyi, they are doing upgrades to the south loop of the campground through 2025 so it would be imperative to make reservations as far in advance as you can for that one.

Have you considered having meet ups? Stub Stewart is a top go to campground for staging a bike ride on the Banks to Vernonia trail. 22 miles of old railroad. Going south on the trail is 5 miles of downhill then 5 plus of flat. Going north it's curvy and fun. Thanks for the show.

You had a gorgeous campsite! I love large campsites, especially if they have some tree cover. To have full hook-ups is an added bonus. As you know, the Wisconsin SP only have electric. That works for us if their shower houses are clean, but FHU in a SP are the best! We are camping in Indiana in two weeks at a state park with large wooded site and FHU: the trifecta.😊

Thanks so much for finding me, I really appreciate it and so glad you enjoyed. As for your son-in-law… what does he like to do outdoors? Hike, go to the water? Whatever it is, go to a park for a day trip. Even if it’s hitting the beach for the day. Then walk around the park and look at some of the rvs and ask things like, “If you were going to RV what type of rig would you enjoy?” Then periodically send them a video you see from UA-cam or Instagram with the type of RV. Then finally see if they would do a cool “adventure” with you as a family, rent an RV and go to one of the spots they really like, have a blast and then they’ll be hooked! Hope it helps 😁

I get what you meant about Kevin Spacey. I have similar feelings about Cosby. He was so damned talented and funny ... and he turned out to be a dirtbag. I used to be able to get a laugh out of people our age (and Boomers a little older) by just saying "Riiight" in Cosby's "Noah" voice. If you do that now they still chuckle, but then the conversation turns to his criminal convictions. Looks like a great park, and it was neat getting the background from the camp host.

Absolutely beautiful park!! The deer!! Could you not put music in when you hike, so we can hear the birds and wind in the trees and even your heavy breathing?? The music detracts from the beauty. Just my opinion.

I thought a man "Kevin S" was innocent until proven guilty, and he was acquitted of the charges. I find it truly amazing that we all are so judgemental and so quick to condemn. Sorry David, I was reading a few of your comments and people were just rude. I did enjoy your journey to Oregon, and I loved the deer 🦌. Breakfast looked scrumptious.

If you’re not aware, a widowmaker or fool killer is a detached or broken limb or tree top. The name indicates that such objects can kill forest workers by falling on them, thus "making widows" of their spouses. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration describes widowmakers as "broken off limbs that are hanging freely in the tree to be felled or in the trees close by."

Oregon is kind enough to allow Disabled vets, not residents, to camp for free in state parks, like Washington. I use both frequently.
