This is our 36-year-old Talbot Express campervan tiny home on wheels Old Gertie. It's been our home for the past year as we full-time vanlife around the UK. She's a great campervan with everything we need. Big double bed, full kitchen and hidden shower. We also have our dog Frank the French Bulldog and Murphy our cat. Come and see how we live.

I love how you cut out how much of a ballache it is to turn the front seats around. I had a Camelot too and it was an amazing van but the bed setup is painfull.

Gertie has all the ticks in the right boxes for functionality. Modern designers need to take note. Is she really only 5 metres, or did I miss hear? Lovely old gal!

Do low emission zones give you any problems ?
I’m gonna be starting van life soon and I’ve never had to think about this, but I do realise I drive through these without even realising (in a compliant vehicle for now)
Not London as I don’t go near the place I’m in the north.
The reason I ask this is because it’s not going away (too much money to be made) it’s only going to get worse.
Good question Bob. We’ve only had to go to into London once due to traffic. Other than that we steer clear of these areas for now.
But it looks like more and more places are jumping on this so only time will tell.

Have you had any major trouble engine, gearbox or expensive breakdowns 😊
Hey Terry, we are actually going to do a video on running costs, fixes etc over the last year. Only major thing has been the exhaust manifold but that wasn’t a breakdown issue. Had a couple of none starter issues but they were sorted by the AA. Would a video like this be of use to you?
