Really good to see you playing these scales in a simple manner as it really helps with riff writing to see what the next step 'should' be instead of groping around in the dark for a suitable note/progression.
Bruh...how amazingly said it's like in your in my head
Oh you're here as well
i'd definitely love a video for each scale; when people talk about theory they never focus on metal, and for sure never on death metal.
btw i think the double harmonic scale belongs in this list (even tho i really struggle to find harmonize and find the modes)
Just started watching this and already such a great video in explaining notes and scales for people that no nothing about note and theory. Really well structured and explained. Thank you
If you're going to be talking about scales, it might be beneficial to say the defining interval of it. For example, Aeolian has a flat 3, flat 6, and flat 7. Harmonic Minor is exactly the same but with a natural 7. Phrygian is exactly the same as Aeolian except instead of a natural 2, it's a flat 2, etc.
Thank you. Would also love to see these across the strings
I use Harmonic, Melodic, and Hungarian minor more than anything else personally, along with a heaping helping of Persian and Ukrainian Dorian.
I didn't know there was a scales on death metal 😂😂😂😂
Harmonic minor is my standard go-to, with the occasional melodic or Hungarian, as I find the standard minor a little too plain sounding. A recent favorite of mine for messing around with has been the 2nd mode of harmonic major, which is basically a minor with the 5th lowered a semitone and the 6th raised a semitone.
Please show us some TRICKS how to remember scales, LG
Really great video! Thanks for putting this together. Good to know which scales are most common in death metal and I feel like most of these are present in thrash metal as well. I’m guilty of using different scales when writing a song. Usually minor and Phrygian. Any ideas what scales that Death uses?
Yeah, more scales. Specifically up the neck rather than boxed in.
hi sir...which scale does in the song Voice of the Soul by Death band? thanks...can u discuss or u have this already? I will check ..thanks..
Ik this is an old comment but it’s in harmonic minor in the key of Dm, if that helps at all lol
@@akimbogoats6301 does death play in harmonic minor scale all the time?
@@Kamil_Srnka a lot of the time yeah, Chuck also wrote a lot in Phrygian dominant or just straight natural minor
@@akimbogoats6301 nice, thanks for the answer
what app you use for the tabs in the video?
Guitar Pro 7
This is a nice series. Could you randomly explore some random exotic scales how they would suit to death metal? Is Dismember using these scales that you presented in video ie. Dreaming in red? I think I have wooden ears to recognize notes😁
Dismember uses mostly aeolian I think. Maybe some harmonic minor. Bit I'll explore it further
No, thanks. Just Aeolian for me.
🤣 Works for so many bands! However wholetone/halftone is a sleeper 😉
