Hi Lynn. Thank you so much. I've just split the orange Geum and dotted that around the garden and I think the Lupins I'm growing from seed will also help fill that gap.
Informative and interesting video Diane. Last years exceptional weather created mayhem in the garden. Timing and floral displays all over the place, mother nature did not know if she was coming or going. Lets hope that this year is a bit more settled.... but I doubt it.😄 Thanks for sharing. 🐞🌻🌱
TY for the vid- I enjoyed the walk through your garden very much- it is beautiful and you have obviously worked very hard. To get more colour in my front garden I have bought wire frames to screw to my walls, pots to attach to the wire frames and 6 for 10quid flowering plants back in January. The front garden is terraced and at the bottom the sun-trap is a perfect place for breakfast but it is also a great out-of-the-wind spot for all the pots of flowers. Usually they last from April to October with a bit of feeding and watering. The whole area is painted Brilliant white which makes the flowers really pop. I have liked and subbed and will visit your channel regularly. Good Luck to you and yours.
Thank you so much for subscribing and I'm delighted that you like my garden and my videos. Your garden sounds lovely. I wish I had even one out-of-the-wind spot 😄 but, as you will see, we are very exposed to the elements. I just choose plants accordingly. Love the sound of your 6 for a tenner plants. I love getting deals like that too, then nursing them along until they're ready to go out. Again, welcome to my channel and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Diane x
My garden is seriously suffering from the June gap! Although I still have foxgloves blooming, and the roses are looking good, the rest of the garden is a bit boring now. I’m going to do exactly as you said and write down where the gaps are, and instead of going to the garden centre and buying bits and bobs of single plants, I will divide and split what I already have so that there’s some continuity of colour. Thank you Diane!! 😊👍
Hello Willow. Lovely to hear from you. Have you noticed that I haven't got many Foxgloves this year? I don't know what has happened to them because I planted loads last autumn. So pleased you found the video useful and here's to no June gaps in our borders next year. Take care. Diane x
@@thedown-to-earthgardeneryes, I did notice that you don’t have as many tall foxgloves as last year! It’s strange - all my self seeded ones have grown really well (& very tall!), but the ones I grew from seed in the autumn have been quite sparse and really small.
That’s good advice. Thank you. I find that Lance leaf coreopsis a.k.a. tickseed is a good June bloomer, but I have to keep deadheading it for it to look good. I am in Eastern Washington state in the US and my property was on the local garden tour a few years back. They always have it mid-June, which baffles me because it is difficult to have a showy colorful garden at that particular time.
Hello Diane and welcome to my channel. Thank you for the tip; I love Coreopsis and will look out for this at the garden centre. Your garden must be beautiful for it to have featured on a tour. We have the National Garden Scheme here in England, where you can visit gardens and all proceeds go to charity. I fear I'm not organised or tidy enough to put my name forward 😃. I always seem to be chasing my tail. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Hope you like my subsequent videos. Diane x
Hello Diane, I've never been successful with bearded Iris and didn't know that the Dutch Iris grew from bulbs so I'd like to give them a go. I love your part of the garden where the greenhouse will go and the Geum and the Aquilegia are beautiful there. I was in my garden today filling gaps with some plants that I'd grown from seed. They were bursting to get out of their pots. Alan Titchmarsh used to say that this is like an old lady being released from her corset and sighing with relief which always made me smile. x
@@maireadharkin5124 I will do. Thanks for that warning. I really do need tall things for my borders. Smaller plants just get drowned out. I’ve just discovered a new garden centre in Cramlington where all the profits go to charity. I’m thinking of taking my sister there next week and I’ll hopefully get one there. 🙂
Love the color of your geums! I tried a Blazing Sunset this spring but it hasn't bloomed yet. The yellow plant blooming in my June gap is Lemon popsicle kniphofia. Starts in June and will bloom all summer. Very dwarf, and compact size.
Hello Diane love your garden yes your right about the June gap my garden is the same will try your suggestion thanks Lynn.❤

Hi Jane. I'm really looking forward to seeing if all the plants I moved around last year, to fill those gaps, perform well. Time will tell. 😊

😂😂 I love that image Wendy. I'll be thinking of that too from now on.
Hi Diane i find the tall Alstroemeria in yellow is good for this june gap !! your garden is looking lovely, thank you for the vlog
Thanks for this tip Mairead. I'll get one! I love Alstroemeria and am thinking of putting some in my front border.
@@thedown-to-earthgardener just make sure its a tall one, i made the mistake of getting a small one !!!
