This video, and all of the reaction videos on this channel, transform the original material from entertainment into education. The original content that is “reacted” to is analyzed by a musician who is now disabled and uses the performance to highlight technique and further discuss all aspects of the music-making process. In addition, musical theory and style choices are also often analyzed and discussed.
While the video does use the entire song (as things such as vocal endurance and song structure must also be considered), there are many pauses. In addition, often the original content is examined to further explain the musical process. During pauses, the reactor goes into detail on how sounds are produced, why or why not they are good, or if they are particularly difficult to make or play. The pauses often last a long time, so much so that this video cannot be considered a replacement for the original material. A link to the original video is always placed in the About section, and viewers are encouraged to watch it without pauses and commentary.
Please do note the total time of this video compared to how long the original song is. That should give you an impression of the lengthy commentary provided.
If you wish for further proof of the educational purpose of this channel, please look at my other videos on vocal techniques, and singer health

The guy singing with Vanessa is John Swan, the brother of Jimmy Barnes. Barnsey used his step father's surname. John Swan was as loud as his brother in days past. He even sang with Cold Chisel in their earlier days, as Barnsey kept coming in and out as lead singer before they had a recording contract in the later 70s.
Ty I didn't know any of this
Great information 👍 cheers mate
Well, when I was having sleep, I lived a big, long response to this. I don't know how in the world it all got erased. Anyway, thank you. This information is as good as gold to me. I really do appreciate it.
The brilliant Vanessa!
She is pretty amazing, no doubt! 👍👍 Thank you for watching.
You go Girl 🎉
🤘❤️🤘
Wow she is so good 👍❤
She is amazing!!! TY so much
Great reaction, Vanessa is 🔥 best cover I've heard is John Farnham with the Melbourne Symphony orchestra singing "its a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll" as well as his warm up song "black dog"
Love both of those!!! We have done both and they were amazing!!!! I would have to say Johnny Cash doing Hurt is the best cover ever with Help being a close second
Max Merritt is a New Zealand artist. His band was Max Merritt and the Meteors. His song Slipping Away is brilliant, and as an Aussie, I just love it….. It is an older song from 1975, and is worth a listen❤ Another couple of bands from New Zealand would be Dragon with the beautiful Marc Hunter RIP, and Split Enz with the Finn Brothers, Tim and Neil (Neil was also the lead singer of Crowded House and had sang for Fleetwood Mac too)
Thanks's @kazz3956! ❤️ Looks like another rabbit hole for Danny and I to dive into. 🤘
👌👏👏👏🤗
❤️❤️🤝🤘🤘🙂😃
This is insanely good! The atmosphere at that concert would have been electric. Thank you for sharing this - LOVED this reaction, guys!
I was interested in your observations about Aussies and their loyalties and fandom, and I think they are valid. We adopt people who adopt us, ie self identify as Aussies. That includes most of the people you named. John, Jimmy and Olivia would tell you they are/ were Australian without being asked. You mentioned Mel Gibson, I think because of a flippant comment I made. No one thinks of him as Australian, but in the early years of his career, he identified as Aussie. What can I say? We're incorrigible.
Do we lose interest in stars once they make it big o/s? I think we're super proud for the most part: Olivia, Kylie, Nicole, Cate etc. But I take your point. There are all these amazing artists and bands that have dropped off the radar here when they're knocking 'em dead o/s. And that's a damn shame. We need to do better. MUCH better! And thank you for bringing us these performers that we've ignored.❤
I thought Danny's question was well phrased and valid, and this is a beautifully articulated response Jennifer. ❤️ I guess we should expect no less from you. 💪 Not to speak for Danny, but I feel these are two goals of the channel. First, to enhance people's appreciation of music whether it be by giving them a different perspective on a song or artist they know, or by introducing them to music they may not have gotten to experience otherwise. And then to engage in fun, healthy conversation. Danny and I are so grateful for your loyalty and amazing comments, Jennifer. Thank you. 🙏❤️
MUCH LOVE ♥ No Dis Respect intended
@@DannyLeeOGT none taken, my friend. To me, this is an interesting discussion, all food for thought. A little introspection is good for the mind.
when an artist is signed overseas the company puts its money in to promoting in The USA and so they fade into the background in Australia. if they are with and australian company like ACDC are (Albert Productions) then there albums are promoted in Australia
Those are policies and politics. Loyalty is loyalty
these were true words Danny but as a 70 year old I can say that at certain points in your life you can lose interest in music if it's not to your taste. So from 1995 to now I have not really rated any modern music. I found Vanessa here on reaction channels just recently and it is to my shame and dismay that I didn't know about her 20 years ago. I am redressing this imbalance now and loving so much new music showcased by you and many others. Thanks you
As a 48 year old man (I hope I can make it to 70 😆) I certainly understand how passing time and changing cultural tastes can impact one's passion and awareness of music that hasn't already earned our devotion. I makes me so happy to hear that our channel could help you discover this amazing talent! Thank you for watching and thank you even more for sharing your story. ❤👍🤘
Fellow 70yo here. I like that Danny's observations have sparked a discussion and a bit of introspection here. Like you, I'm enjoying the introduction to music I've missed, and re-living music I've loved. Case in point their deep dive into Nightwish, my favourite band, although that's a small word for such a big sound. Their reactions to Nightwish are worth checking out.
I am so humbled by you all! TY for your comment and time!!!!
ty Jenn your amazing
Perfectly said
If you love Vanessa, maybe check out her song called Muhammad. She certainly has a beautiful voice.
I hadn't heard it before - it's great!
Yes of course. I had Natural Woman loaded. But we can do Muhammad next!!! I also put a Song The Letter By Vanessa and Hoobastank!!!!
It’s Janis not Janice 😉 😉
noted😄
Thank you! Did you like the song?
Yep Vanessa is great, have seen her grow up. Karise Eden is Australia’s Janis Joplin though IMO!
@@Dr_KAP do you have a suggestion ?
@@DannyLeeOGT certainly did ! my fav {of many} would be her and Dave Stewart {former Eurythmics} ua-cam.com/video/YTnbM2I8fe4/v-deo.html
reincarnated Janis ?
Certainly possible. She certainly has the same soul and connection to the music that Janis did. 🎶 ❤
She is great!!!!
