Scenic Ride Through Northland To The Old Parakao Store

Come along for the ride as we take a mid winter trip up north to the Old Parakao Store in Northland with around 30 Harleys and a number of pillions. This video was recorded at the end of August with the ride setting off from Silverdale on Auckland's North Shore and then travelling up via Kaukapkapa, Wellsford, Te Hana, Kaiwaka then swinging westwards on state highway 12 through Maungaturoto and Paparoa before stopping for some refreshments at Matakohe. Following the break we travelled through Ruawai and onwards to Dargaville to refuel before swinging eastwards on state highway 14 and then up through Tangowahine before reaching The Old Parakao Store. Fabulous destination which is well worth a visit to anyone travelling north looking for an awesome countryside location, eclectic ambience, memorabilia, great food and cold drinks. We will definitely return.

yeah, it's a great route up that Tangowahine Valley Road from SH14. We headed back to the smoke along the usual way though via Maungatapere and on the motorway at Otaika 😎

get near the ridge lookout and you get a good idea of the weather alright... I ride a lightweight ADV over there, and the wind makes it quite nerve racking!
