This is why golf is a game that becomes more and more complex and interesting the better you get, which is sort of the opposite of true for other sports. Once you have a full swing that you can at least modestly rely on to get you around the course, the best thing to do is start to understand all the little nuances of things like lies, all the little tricks around greens, controlling flight, etc. The puzzle and creativity part of the game opens up and a whole new world is revealed to the player!
Excellent content - Josh is learning how to play golf vs just how to hit the ball. If he puts as much into short game practice as he has on full swing he’ll be breaking 80 next year.
Brilliant series. I haven’t broken 100 but I shot 104 in my last round which is my best. These tips will help me. The hip rotation technique you gave a female golfer a few weeks ago has improved my ball striking no end.
Keep plugging away and practice and work out what goes wrong. It's a bitch of a game. Been playing 2 years and was around the 104s then it kept dropping. Shot an 86 on Thursday. You'll get there 👍
Love the on the course real world type lesson instruction. I can hit it great on the range but it’s so different when you put different lies and hazards in front of you. Thanks!
Learning a lot from this series! Started golfing this summer because the company gave me a book full of coupons and a bunch were for rounds of golf. I suck but at least I have a bunch of cool golf clothes now.
Great real world tips! Learning about adapting to different lies is really useful for a beginner (handicap 20) who has been playing for 6 months. I reckon this probably gives saves me 2-3+ shots per round. Thanks lads.
Hey guys! I broke 90 for the first time this past Thursday and just want you to know that your video here just reconfirmed for me that I was on proper task to get there. I did love your suggestion on the chipping from a bad lie technique. I have not tried that yet and will definitely implement that. Great job and thank you for what you do!
Still yet to have an on course lesson but as others have said getting on the course on different lies and slopes and playing different golf shots is the best way to learn. While it still can be good a golf range you are just practicing the same shot over and over with little variety
really enjoying your videos, very well thought through and nicely demonstrated. what i am missing though are videos about the most important gold rules/ etiquette, especially for beginners, like myself. its one thing learning them from a book, but much better if demonstrated in a real life situation. maybe something you can implement in your future projects?! thanks
One thing that improved my short game and putting was trying to miss the hole - the right way: trying to get past the flag and be on the upper side of the flag on a side slope. Also trying to avoid under clubbing, instead going for a club and a swing that will land the ball on the green. If it ends up past the green I gave my self a chance. Being short of the green only guarantee a chip or a bunker shot. There are of course exceptions to this rule.
Ironic. I was literally practicing that exact technique for the chip from the rough around the green. And I was doing very well. Cool to see you guys teaching the same thing.
Hi I currently don’t have a driver but I want to get one back I have a huge slice when it goes bad it’s literally 50/50 chance it happens I am going to book lessons at end of year do you suggest I pay the money and get fitted for a driver or is it pointless because I can’t hit the thing properly??? Any ideas will help thanks
I am no longer going to give myself a good lie in the rough when I scramble with my buddies. I believe I’m going to intentionally give myself a tough lie in the rough just so I can practice that shot
Hi,kip the right hand faster then the left and oops ,no more decelerating on the chip shots.driver,driver,driver. most expensive club in the bag, most fun .why Kipling it in the bag?for a short wood overkill in the rough..thank you
Great work lads! Got a challenge for you, Any drills for us cack handed players? We’re few and far between but drills are hard to adapt for us. Help me break 90 too lads! 😆
Instead of using a 7 iron, could he have used a rescue? It has more mass behind the shot and I find it can go a bit further (140-160) than I get out of my 7 iron (130).

Enjoyed the video, but one significant observation. The issue at hand is teaching a routine that gets exaggerated by a 20 hcp into 3,4,5 practice swings, which results in the same or higher score and…4-5+ hour rounds. Frustrating. If any, ONE practice swing fellas. Teach pace of play as well. Thanks. Good stuff.
The whole purpose of this exercise was not to see his score but to put him in situations and see how he would deal with it. This then allows us to train him to make good decisions out on the golf course👍
there is no way that guy has only just taken up golf in the last few months (as stated in previous vids) or in the last year! The way he talks about about the club snagging in rough etc. He has secretly been playing for years but just never improved until now.
This is a great example of the information Josh had picked up through our website. He had invested his time in to learning and watching out plans which is one of the reasons he has great knowledge so early.
Absolutely love seeing you guys work with a normal bloke to improve the game! Sign me up for the next series!!!!

Great tip from Piers on chipping from crappy lies.
Thanks Randy, hope it helps!👌
Big fan of the instruction, I'm hovering in low - mid 90's, so looking to be in the 80's asap! Plus love the Adi tops!

Sounds good Pete! Thanks for your suggestion👍
Today i didn't hit a fairway. So woods today. 48 I believe now that I am driving farther, I am stressing when it isn't working.

@@meandmygolf. When I get into a better financial position, I will be in the market for lessons. You guys are on the short list :)
Really good stuff guys, have you done something similar for those of us literally just starting and say breaking 100 first?

I just mash the grass down a la Patrick Reed and blade it over the green a la Caddyshack and I'm par for the course lol
Great video. What is joshs handicap?

surely he's knocking on the door of 90, maybe less driver off the tee and a decent 3 wood or hybrid.
Instead of using a 7 iron, could he have used a rescue? It has more mass behind the shot and I find it can go a bit further (140-160) than I get out of my 7 iron (130).

It seems like he’s invested the time over a few months that most new golfers would invest over 2 years.
With the better lie that pierce gave him shooting for 260, I probably would have grabbed my 5 wood (24 degree loft), for some distance hopefully ?
yep, that second lie i would've gone a nice 5 wood and hit slightly down
Trick for me to break 90, play easier courses
Oh, and don’t play the ball down
Such a good tip for playing that nasty lie.. gonna practice this type of technique for sure
Hope it helps Craig🏌️♂️🙌
