Yes we knew 'councillor' Ray Partridge quite well and have some happy memories of the Conservative club in Wednesbury. When we used it Len and his wife Elsa ran it, lovely couple.
Thanks John, pleased to hear someone knew him. I was interviewed by him to become a member of the con club. The 'singing barber' tony was always in there when I used to visit
@@awalkwithphil Yes the 'interview' to see if your sponsor had recommended a suitable candidate. We, my mother and father plus my wife would go in Saturday nights but Sunday lunch time my father and I would go and join our good friend Sam Mosley and always stand in the corner of the bar. Usually there was a group of about 6 of us in the corner. Councillor Billy Archer would join us and have a drink and a chat, he was a really nice man. Ray would come round Saturdays and Sundays selling raffle tickets and always got a good leg pulling. Happy Times.
@@johnhaynes5814 The last time I visited the Con club must have been in the late 80s The club would often have bands etc playing on the stage and i went to see a famous 60s singer called Craig Douglas who was not too good he blamed their poor microphone/speaker set up, must have been in 1987/88.
Nice one Phil. You shudda popped in for a cuppa (a minute or two away). No wonder there's power cuts !! Really all these Christmas lights (including big electric advertising boards everywhere etc etc) should really be bringing it home to all the normies that the whole climate crisis is a complete and utter scam ! It's just about money and control. Keep them coming ...
