Hi Phil I remember Marks & Spencer and littlewoods were near each other on the high street you have done well braving the weather I hope when they build the new indoor market they clear the high street of those stalls outside I think the high street would look a lot better it's nice to see the Town busy all the best Paul
Hi Phil, I cant believe how messy West Brom has become, well it’s down to certain clientele.. Home bargains used to be WHSmiths and new look was littlewoods. So you’d got them wrong way round. I’m shocked how bad the towns gone, I’m glad I moved out the area.
Sadly West Bromwich town centre has gone the same way as a lot of neighbouring towns in the black country, councils are partially to blame due to a lack of investment over the years not caring what happens to the high street just letting our town centres rot over time. West Bromwich town centre now looks like an extension of soho Road in Handsworth full of all the wonderful enrichment multiculturalism brings with it! No amount of money could ever return these places back to what they once were for those of us old enough remember how they used to be when these places flourished, towns now are mostly sole less, times have sadly changed and so have the people, progress isn't always a good thing.
Shipleys slots ??? give me strength. But yes a nice bit of the old town above it. I think it was Millets that used to be near WH Smith. It was a great shop it was like a posh Army and Navy store. I remember the old record shop you mentioned right in that bottom corner. I first went in there in about 1975 I'd be about 16 and I suddenly had some money. I think it closed shortly after Woolworths and WH Smith started to stock more and more records. The old town looks very bleak in the rain.

What a dump , I can remember decades ago , we used to come over to Birmingham and West Brom for a day out , ( I’m from Coventry ) it was great as a kid to visit these areas , what happened, well we know what happened, it’s now more and more like a slum ,
B'ham was great has kids, it was a special place to go, they ruined it when they regenerated it, west brom and dudley where great places to shop, dudley being a bit up market, now you need a passport to go anywhere if you know what I mean, I so want to move but where do we go😢
Sadly, West Bromwich didn't benefit from the luftwaffe's attentions quite so much a Coventry ,so it took the town a little while to catch up and copy what is now the post modernist culturally barren hellhole that is lady godiver's old stomping ground or as the Guardian has publicised the United Kingdom's 2021's city of culture...
West Bromwich used to be a nice place not anymore I don't feel safe there your videos are brilliant Phil thank you so much keep up the good work from Marie 😁

Does anyone actually speak English on the high street anymore🤔
No Punjabi is being spoken, a lot of workers are from Punjab.
