What about the community patch? Only reason I haven't started the game, I can't find the answer to where to drop the folders, is it necessary? I've heard that DX11 mod causes bugs, it's that true? Or can Is it fixed now?
Hello and thanks for the guide. I've never played Gothic and now I want to. Initially, the game wouldn't start, but then luckily it started. The only problem' is that I don't see the mouse pointer and I can't select the dialogue choices... Any advice? I'm on Windows 11

I think the gog version is already patched with the 4gb patch and the player kit 1.8 iirc. I always wonderd if it was any harm to repatch the game if it is patched already
You have better mod support and up to date patches on the system pack made by the community modders, which means a less buggy game and more stable. If you wish to just replay the game for nostalgia and then be done, I recommend just installing what you need from Steam.
There is an optional setting in steam which allows you to play the unpatched version of the game. This guide is for that. If you plan on modding the game, it's recommended you choose the unpatch version and use this guide. If you just want to play the original game, installing it from Steam is enough.

Steam version is also patched, but this guide is still here for those who install the legacy (unpatched) version.

as far as i know, you need to choose the installation language when installing, i don't think you can change it after
