I have a problem I do not know how rays but the texts in HD do not look very clear, another thing I assign the keys and they do not work correctly for example to pick up objects.

I kept the game with me all these years (10 years). Occasionally I play it.
I love the atmosphere of the game, the repetitive NPC conversations, the ambient owl and cricket sounds, the sky effects, the look of the unnamed hero, I love diego, I love the glitches, I love the commands, I love the story, oops i got carried away again!

Thumbs up and subbed. I tried DX11 on G1 before and was always super salty about how it would keep crashing on me, but knowing the DEP fix which I never heard about before rightfully earned a sub and like.

I am truly amazed and am humbly bowing my head towards modders. These Men and Women bring old games to the new Era, fix broken games and help out many gamers in need (i always had an underpowered pc in the past and mods made some newer games to run decently with sometimes minimal drawbacks "Dying Light"). We really need to appreciate the work. Fine job!
Only one dead link at the time of writing (the onedrive one), and everything else works perfect, pretty good for this type of tutorial video.
I'm saving all this in a local archive so I can use these mods without further downloads.

I wanted to replay the game and thought about a mod tutorial, but didn't expected to find a video uploaded 1 month ago. Thats crazy, the game came out in 2001 and there are still people playing.

Don't underestimate the passion of Piranha Bytes' fanbase. I can't think of any other developer that could release a game as buggy and unfinished as Gothic 3, and it being fixed to such an impressive level over a decade later by its fans. There's still a dedicated mod in development called the Community Story Project that has been worked on for many years now and is still being slowly built. Just crazy the level of PB fans dedication.
Gothic 1 > dark souls 1 > Gothic 2
Because it is a masterpiece, that's why. Nobody managed or cared to do something remotely similar throughout the years.
Really nice tutorial bro i will try it out soon with the dark mysterys mod. I never heared of it but i cant wait to play more content of gothic 1. I played already a lot of fan mods but 4 new factions.. professions holy moly i cant wait :) I will definitly try it out with the dx shader.

Yo thanks mate, i have spine but i wasn't too curious about textures until i started having problems. Now g1 really looks good
Never use spine to mod Gothic if you want a stable game.

Bro... this was gold... i have all 3 gothics on steam and was soooo sad when no matter what i did it just refused to work... this tutorial made everything work perfectly... you should give a tutorial on how to play the game... in english. since picking up items is not very easy... but thank you for showing the community how to do this. Amazing and now i can actually play this game after having it for over a year...

@@Mr._Vly I mean I would never even think about including this shader in the video without knowing any other perfectly working links, at least he managed to make a perfect guide for gothic 3, but with gothic 1 he just failed big time.

A great tutorial for an even greater mod ... Gothic became fantastic.
if anybody has issues with constant crashing even without error pop up, try to reinstall everything but stop after installing the systempack.
for me all the grafic mods made the game very unstable.
now with just the playerkits and systempack I am playing since 10h without any crash. 100% stable

There is some problems with onedrive second reshade, i can't download it.
If you become a Guru in Golden Mod, main quest glitches and Ur-shak doesn't appear in castle ruins. They still didn't fixed that issue afaik, so be careful!
I wanna update my experience about this combination mods i played sometime with this and i had some problems for example: invisible enemies or me but if i saved it F5 all was back but if i was in orcs grave there was invisible orc so it wasnt good for me, jump animation is bugged mean if u run and jump our character will stop at the end and go down in vertical,some and i had randomly crash it was too much for me so i decided to go back to normal gothic and for directx11 i had dissapear items like ladder or bridge randomly.
the gameplay problem u got cant come from the dx, it must be a problem with a gameplay or animation mod. Maybe u got 2 active at the same time and they collide?
the game goes black screen when i to pick my own sword. maxed all dx11 settings, it may something to do with it?

Hi mate! Thank you for your hard work! Just a chalenge though... the seccond graphic preset isn't available anymore. :)
If anyone has crashes with ACCESS VIOLATION error, please read about Data Execution Prevention (DEP)! Adding gothic.exe, gothicmod.exe and gothicstarter.exe removes the problem. Go to Control Panel, open 'System' and go to "Advences options", after that open "Performance" tab and click last tab in newly opened window. You have DEP options in there, select second one and add exes in there.

My character movement and camera can't be changed if I try drawing weapon, so he just runs into a wall while I can only load save.
@sinitar gaming just wondering if theres a way to make the cutscenes fullscreen. found ways to make then higher res but havent see a way to fill the screen
I have one question. I was trying to record some gameplay and in the video the Screen was very small (4:3 I think) and the lightning was gone. The game looked super pale compared to your video. Is there a way to fix it? Oh and this also happens when I do screenshots. I was using Nvidia shadowplay (I think that's how it's called).
Whenever I save, the game crashes, anyone else experienced this problem?

Botched production and marketing
There is a very nasty bug in the old camp. The screen turns black after saving and corrupts your save. It appears it only happens within the boundaries of old camp.

Thanks for doing this man, very well explained, i remember playing this when i was very young in my uncle computer, play a few hours and never play again, i had hopes that with this modifications the game will became playable today.. sad =\, too much dated, even with this graphics improvement, atleast i have the risen series tho.

Guys, when I try to change settings in DX11 menu (ctrl + F11), it opens the tab but when I click on anything there game suddenly freeze and I can not change any options, some help ?

I have a massive issue!! I killed the crawler queen and when I try to go out of the old mine the loading screen get stuck at ~70%. I can hear music and all of the game sound but nothing else. I can't move. I tried to load couple of different saves and it still happens no matter what I do. Please help.

Idk if anyone can help me, but I recently found and fixed an old Alienware M14X R2, which has a GT650M, and from what I've read, it is a DirectX enabled GPU. However though, when I install the DirectX 11 mod, my game just shows a white screen, but I can still press the F11 key to toggle options.
Installed everything, looks awesome but I get a blackscreen after a couple of minutes of gameplay. Any view on this?
I tried to install for example Player Kit (versions 2.8) but when I want to click on install does not allow me to install it. The key is simply dark grey, that happens also with the System Pack. Who knows why, I tried to change the folder ecc. but it does not help

is the DX11 renderer needed if I'm playing on windows 10 with dx12? If I try to run the G2D3D11Updater it says "Wrong updater parameters".
Renderer has nothing to do to with your PC DX support. It's a renderer that's adding unsupported effects to the GAME :)
I really appreciate this video but i just keep getting a white screen on launch with sounds being played. Liiterally redid this guide 5x with/without Dx11 and no avail :(
The second Reshade link doesnt work anmyore, would u mind providing a functioning one or saying what the preshade is called? Got everything to work, installed another preshade i thought looks good but its too far from the vanilla look ingame actually. Didnt like the pink look of the first one too:D

I did everything that you said, and the game works, but for some reason the intro cutscenes and even the video for the developer when you get into the game don't show, thought there is sound. any idea why that is?

well, it doesnt matter what gothic as long as it works on your computer. First: mod your favourite gothic to your heart's content. Second: mod your second favourite Gothic game. Third: Mod your least favourite gothic.
That is how you will make the most out of the series. And how you will have thousands of hours of fun.

Is there a way to make the newer Clockwork Edition renderer work with the Reshade preset?
Unfortunately, when I start the game, I don't see the preset... Only with the "normal" renderer.
