Great content! I have the same Idoing head unit in my WRX. Just installed it 3 weeks ago. It’s been great. FYI ... You don’t need to plug in the phone for CarPlay it’s able to do wireless CarPlay and Probably Android Auto as well.
Rob, you ever have connection issues with the wireless carplay? like doesn't quite connect right away and finding you have to close zlink and reopen it?
@@ZoopChedda Hi, yeah a couple of times I’ve had it hang and not connect. I had to close the link app. Most of the time it takes about 10 to 15 seconds to connect and authenticate to my phone. Maybe just plugging it in is worth the hassle. 😬
Will this work on a 2014 XV crosstrek? And what camera should i pair it with? It’d be nice to show a video with how to run the wires for the reverse camera.
Noticed that the linked unit says it is for a 2016 to 2021 WRX. But it seems to be the only one on their site with the silver trim on the air vents like the 2015 crosstrek limited. This is def the unit you got?
How is the visibility on the screen during the day? My daughter’s Forester screen is unreadable in daylight. It looks good on the video but I’m wondering at different times of day. Thx. Great video

no , use a long extension and a swivel , you will not re use the two 10mm, you probably will drop the left (driver side one) but you should see it in the main section once you get the head unit out.(unless you have a magnetic 10mm.)
no! to having to remove any panels on driver side, make sure you note the cable routing for the HVAC controls if yours are the manual push pull cables.
Hay guys great vid please keep it up. I have 2020 wrx base. How do I exactly order the IDOING head unit for my car.? I have the kicker factory upgrade & JL 12 ALL IN ONE SUB. ALSO do you recommend using a component 6.5 in the doors instead of kicker coaxial?

Do you have problems with the hotspot? I contacted my phone but I don't have internet and sometimes the signal it's really poor and takes long time to load a video for example
Warning to all 2021 Crosstrek owners considering the idoing radio. Subaru added a comm port to the back of the OEM radio that communicates with the starlink system. If you try to install the idoing radio without the appropriate connection back to the starlink, your vehicle will lose starlink functions including its vehicle theft system. Idoing will also deny the problem.

I have the same head unit and visibility during sunny days is excellent. The screen is very bright.
Very nice. Want to get this on my WRX. The stock unit is good enough but it's getting wonky with connecting to my new phone with Bluetooth
Unfortunately, you don’t show the most important part which is the difficult removal of the lower bolts on the drivers and passenger side

Two years late… but from what I’ve seen, idoing makes a unit compatible with 2013-2017

@WRXGarage, I found that my rear speakers were flip flopped (right on left, left on right), are you experiencing that as well?
No, everything seems to work fine on our system. You might just need to flip the pins with a depending tool

Sorry, I've never used the hotspot function so I don't really know anything about it.

If you have a full android radio, why use ANDRIOD auto... Makes no sense... You're missing the whole ANDRIOD HEAD UNIT experience....
