Im hoping you can answer this. At 9:35 you show the yellow video plug for the factory rear camera. Is the second yellow plug for a front camera? I know there is a DVR unit for a dashcam but Im more interested in there being a toggle built in to the unit to turn on a front camera for approaches. Thanks!
Thanks for this tutorial. Factory head unit just went out in my 17 Impreza limited and they want 1300$ parts/labor. This looks to be easy and a massive upgrade over factory and the exact item i need
@@ChrisMurone unit would show power up splash screen and then freeze either freeze immediately . unit backlighting would sometimes start flashing like it was restarting. for me it wasn't worth replacing because the only use of a factory unit is the starlink which in 2017 was obsolete since it ran on 3G network and that shutdown a couple years ago
I’ve been having problems with my 2021 Crosstrek constantly cycling power restarting and then turning off. Did replacing your unit fix your problem? I’m thinking my unit might be broken but I’m just curious what your situation was like cause I’m not trying to drop a ton of cash just to find out I only needed to replace my head unit.
It did, I actually reached out to the seller and they walked me through the process to add those back. It’s basically just an option that you can turn on and off, I believe they come off by default. They are subtly different from the factory lines but it still has them
@@DitoCardona They are different? That's interesting - always thought the guide lines were part of the camera software and so whatever unit you would get (since its a video feed from the camera), it would be the same. Are the Idoing camera guides accurate? Like does it turn when you turn the wheels?
I think I figured it out. I noticed two different sets of guidelines on my current pioneer head unit. I disabled parking assist guide on the head unit and one set - static guidelines - disappeared. The dynamic track was still there. Also, the dynamic on impreza and other XV models fitted with a different brand of head unit (e.g. Panasonic). I concluded that the dynamic track is a camera specific feature (fitted on Impreza, XV and Forester) not the head unit specific. The head unit's guidelines are static. So, I'll be getting the Idoing android unit.
Does this unit also bypass the Subaru DCM? (Ie disable starlink and their subscription based sos system) because those have been putting a vampire load on the battery since the 3g network they talk to is gone.
thats not the biggest OEM screen you can get in that car. The Sport and Limited came with 8" displays since 2017, and the Base and Premium have the 6.5" that you show. I want to do this upgrade myself for my 2018 Sport because it looks great, they matched the OEM font/look very well, and the adhesive under my screen is starting to melt down (?? thanks subaru) but the headunit doesn't have RCA or Optical/Toslink outputs for my DSP, which is almost essential. Right now I have to bluetooth my phone directly to my DSP, but that means I cant use the carplay functionality in the stock headunit while I drive, which sucks. Also its android based which resamples music bitrates. If this had a good DAC and RCA out, or just an optical/toslink out, it would be a no brainer.
True yeah, and yep that adhesive tends to break down on the 8 inch screen sadly. It's the digitizer under the clear plastic. I opened one to try to fix it thinking it was dust but it wasn't. :( The 8 inch is also a crappy slow POS like the 6.5.
@@Josh.DavidsonI found a unit from EKIY looks the exactly the same, but has more features including toslink/digital optical out, and might be higher quality. It’s for the forester technically, but those radios directly swap into the Impreza.
I put the same thing in my daughter 2018 Impreza. Very easy to install. It's been a year and she likes it.
Where is the link to this unit?
In the description of the video

Do they have a unit for forester 2021?
Yes
Where can i buy this unit

What was its mode of failure? Mine has been getting wonky Bluetooth and I’m wondering if it’s about to go

I have no volume on my head until. It happened in 2018 and they replaced the head unit at that time

Looks good. Does it affect the existing USB connections under the unit? To use wired Android Auto can you use the existing USB in the center console?
Thank you. Did your back up camera have the guide lines on the OEM head unit? Noticed they weren't there on the Idoing unit.

are you able to make a video how to remove the upper center console? it makes a cracky sound and not finding how to remove it to install cushions :(
Where does the single wire you plugged in to the head unit connect to?
Where do u get a hood scoop for those cars I got the 19 too been trying to figure it out
CarID or eBay have it, it's the carbon creations hood
Thank you
Can you please link engine cover 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
What did you do with the old screen did you sell it?
Does this thing still allow you to put on the radio?
Nice job I will have to upgrade my system when it goes out.
Hi good day… would this also fit subaru crosstrek 2023?

Link please 🙏 🙏🙏🙏🙏
You may have mentioned it and I just missed it, but will this work for the 2021 impreza
You don't have starlink?
Has anyone gotten a “no signal” for their stock backup camera?
Thank you! ❤
Does it sound better and louder?
Hmm... I wonder if this would fit in my 2017 Crosstrek?
I mean 2018
It will, they use interchangeable parts.
Was it worth the upgrade? I’m trying about getting one for my 2019 forester
Easily! An extremely simple plug and play install for some really cool functionality
can you change the theme?
will this work for a subaru impreza 2022?
Yes
Will it fit in the right hand drive varient of this car?
