I hope you don’t mind hearing this, but I find your videos great to fall asleep listening to. They are very informative and are presented very pleasantly.
In a billion years, would we still be human? Btw, I have always wondered about this collision so thank you for your selection! Wait. Did you say...test? 🌃🌠🍮
@@t.kersten7695 I would hope that in a million years we would at least be a type 5 or 6 civilization and need not concern ourselves with these situations.
freaking out thinking about how planets in a satellite galaxy would have the amazing scenic vista of our galaxy in their sky but it would be as mundane as something like the moon is to us. probably having an anomalously large, super close rock tidally locked to your planet would be unthinkable to them
No, not likely. Maybe the close stellar neighborhood, but even a new quasar is not powerful enough to severely affect a galaxy thousands of light years across.
Hopefully when i die i become a Spooky ghost and then i can watch the Galactic Merger, i just wonder if they will name the new Galaxy after another Chocolate Bar
I'm not sure how we can speculate that the universe will exist for trillions of years when it's only like 14 billion years old. It's more likely that we exist in a fairly average time, maybe a few sigma deviation but 1000s of billions is incredibly unlikely
space can still be very depressing - at least for everyone with a working brain. and the possible outcomes of the future are the most depressing things of space at all. the positive side of it: we will never see this far and terrifying future with our own eyes. the negative side: we will never see it with our iwn eyes. knowing, what can / will happen is terrible. but knowing to never see it is terrible too. but thanks for your interesting video. and now it´s time to lighten up the mood again and to not think about the future.
there is no easy way to say this and i don't want you to panic, but i'm afraid that there might be a dragon behind you thanks for providing great content and keep it up! :)
If anyone has trouble visualising the immense distances involved in space travel, I have a sci-fi movie for you. Aniara (English subtitles). Warning!! - will fill you with existential dread!
So the Milky Way has merged at least 3 times already and it has it's shape back, if every merge takes 3-4 billion years how is the universe 12 billion years old. It's not
However many mergers there have been, they were all smaller ones, Obviously nothing the size of Andromeda, Because it's bigger than the Milky way itself
I just love the combination of science, the background sounds, and the voice
I'm so glad the algorithm recommended me this channel, awesome stuff!
I watch endless hours of space content, but yours is particularly well-written. Glad I found it
Always a pleasure to watch and listen to your enlightening but utterly relaxing videos. Thanks a lot for another great video.
I had a vision of Wile E. Coyote holding up a parasol in a desperate attempt to deflect Andromeda

Great work on these vids seriously 👍ur my new favorite 😺 Very well produced and delivered ,❤

I'M NOT READY FOR THE TEST, besides, the dog ate my homework and I'll be sick that day.
You're excused, but just this once
Sick? You mean "hungover"? 😋
Excellent channel, im a bit addicted to cosmic content so im so glad UA-cam directed me to your way
You make great videos, thanks for sharing!
Loving your content always. Your voice is so soothing and beautiful. You have a bright career among creators who talk about the cosmos :)
One day we may be known as a pre-merger civilisation.
I think this is the third video of yours ive been recommended. Really good listening.
That was great ! ... well done 👍
Most enjoyable
Subscribing bc very nice voice and pleasant accent 😊😊 good to play in the background
You are a really good teacher. Love your channel.
I just discovered your channel and your videos are very good
Our poor "little" Sag A* is going to get positively gobbled up by Andromeda's SMBH when they eventually merge. 4 million solar masses vs 140 million!
Not exactly fair, is it
@@bluedotdweller no, not fair at all!
your videos are such a treat.
Most enjoyable Channel !
You're Always Amazing! ❤️
At least we'll have a few aeons to think of a better name than Milkdromeda. 😊
I just say Milky Andromeda.
@@bluedotdweller very sensible! 👍
Best way to avoid a galactic collision. Is to not be around when it happens.
11:06 - Nope
Super interesting, thank you.

at first, let´s survive the next one or two millennia. and if we could reach 1 million years from now, this would be a huge Jackpot.

Ok I'm not trying to be weird but that sounded like a wonderful dance of galactic origin for our local region..
Theres definitely other life out there, its the main reason the universe exists. Im glad I found your channel
What makes Haleys comet return?
When supermassive black holes combine, and “ignite” a quasar, would that sterilize the surrounding galaxy?

With ease, because nothing happens to your solar system, aside of by the time Andromeda and Milky Way merge the sun has already turned red giant!
