Great video. Our universe is truly staggering, and we humans are perhaps fortunate that size is not the only potential measure of significance. Even so, it puts into perspective how wedded we are to our little watery rock and how tenuous are existence could be.
I love the in depth information and numeral crunching, is it just me or is the narrerator crazy adorable and attractive....with the dark reality she is making chillingly clear for the most aloof of them.
Great video ! I love space videos with big numbers. I'm an editor and I do have a couple of suggestions for the future videos 😁 1. Overall the video was well paced, but try cutting out the music on the funny bits and lines, and the pauses that are supposed to show you in AWH like 4:45 (maybe turn the video black and white if you want), this will make the jokes feel more organic, when you leave the music going on it will cause a one second of confusion, and also it will help keep the audience watching cause it breaks the long parts where you're talking. 2. Sometimes when you'll switch topic you take a long pause (e.g at 3:17 and 4:45 you took a long pause before moving on to talking about black holes), that's pretty easy to fix just shorten them, and also start implementing "the J and L cut" it is pretty simple and does have a huge effect, you can look it up on UA-cam. 3. This kinda go with my previous points but, it is just a personal opinion, try cutting out the long breath moments in the video, they slow down the video and be cutting them out, that will tighten the edit (example: at 0:34, AND YEAH IK I'M BEING PICKY xD) Again great video and thanks for the great content.
Hey, thanks for the tips! I'm still pretty new to editing (I use Da Vinci resolve if that matters), so any and all advice is welcome :) I'm glad you enjoyed my video anyway :)
Universe is also way too small. Midway between the smallest distance (1 Planck length) and the largest distance (Diameter of observable universe) is 7 nm. An average-sized thing in the universe is more than 10,000 times smaller than the width of a human hair. Universe is too large yet too small.
Another great video. The fact that black hole TON 618 could house 11 solar systems in it is mind blowing 🤯. Our solar system is so huge (relative to us tiny humans lol) that it's so hard to truly grasp how gigantic TON 618 is, even with our solar system used for scale. What's even crazier is that there's likely black holes somewhere in the universe that dwarf TON 618. Looking forward to your next upload. I'm glad I learned about your channel.
Something else pretty insane, the difference between the two photographed black holes! Our galaxy’s black hole, Sagittarius A*, is about the size of the orbit of Mercury… the one at the center of M87 is the size of the orbit of PLUTO!
Another Cracking Video 👍 Attempting to ponder the size universe fills me with equal parts indescribable wonder, and, horrifying cosmic dread! Yet we are so lucky to have the understanding we have. Imagine a civilisation that evolves after the expansion of the universe pushes all other galaxies beyond detectable range. Those poor souls will gaze out into the sky and see nothing but empty endless expense with no way of ever knowing they weren't alone. That would be a terror not even Lovecraft could describe.
Wow. This was mind-blowing. I'd never seen those long chains of galaxies before, or the super voids. Kind of makes one wonder what we would see if we could zoom right out. I think your ant analogy was perfect. Keep up the good content, I'm sure your channel will grow almost as big. 👏👍
Thank you for another great video. I have a picture of the Horse Head nebula as the wallpaper on my laptop. in it, the nebula is quite small in relation to the background. When I stop and think that the Horse Head is ~24 trillion miles tall it kind of puts things in perspective.
Greetings from northen Sweden and a new subscriber. This video came up in the feed as I was scrolling. Thinking about the scale of things makes my brain hurt,,, for example, 1,3 million years,, and you are still in the solar system 🤪 Great video,, think I need to binge watch during the weekend. Stay safe and take care.
Without a doubt yours is one of the very best channels of its kind. Thank you for these brilliant, superbly presented and comfortably digestible videos. I look forward to every new episode.
As far as we are aware, we are the only sentient, intelligent beings in the known universe. If this is true, then we could be atom sized. It wouldn’t matter, because we are legitimately a way for the universe to learn about itself.
Stupendously Large Black Holes - because astronomers are really not all that clever when it comes to naming things anymore. Gargantua the Galaxy Destroyer would be a clever name, but no.
Yes, the size of the universe is staggeringly big, we cannot truly grasp the concept of infinity and what lies beyond. Equally we can go in the other direction to discover tiny things like atoms, electrons and so on, but is it possible that there is infinite smallness? If so that would really confuse matters. Thank you for producing these wonderful videos.
You have a gift and present this knowledge well. I have had to default on trying to conceptualize the scale . I am brave enough to say that our ability to try and understand fills any void . When we stood up to look for danger on the Savannah and became experts in recognition , painted in caves . solved problems . We defined scale
If our galaxy were the size of the continental USA, then our entire solar system would fit on your fingertip with the earth fitting in between one of the ridges.
My grandfather would have a walk anytime he was stressed out and when he returned he had cleared his mind and all was well with him. We all need to take a walk once in awhile.
you got the sun earth distance backwards. it is 93 million "miles" to the sun. 150,000,000 "kilometers".. its immediately obvious from a comparison of their magnitudes. also you shouldnt use "m" for miles since that means "meters" .use "mi" instead
I’ve watched quite a few “how big is the universe” videos and they’re all basically the same. This one however took a different approach at it and made it interesting af. Well done
Scale in relation to the universe is so utterly insane. I can't believe there are still astrophysicists who don't believe the slightest bit in the existence of extraterrestrial beings. Like Ulrich Walter and Harald Lesch. I cringe so hard when they talk about that subject. This video is splendid. Makes me question the meaning and importance of mankind. Well done! Thank you so much!
soem of the stuff you said in this video soudns familiar to a video by SEA: ua-cam.com/video/BCjWmfWq0pU/v-deo.html did you get inspiration from it at all? Just curious, great video anyways!
Amazing stuff!!! Straight facts but also great philosophy. This might just be my new favourite channel! Cheers, keep it up! Looking forward to your next videos!!
Not sure if you used it in your calculation, but you flipped the km and miles for the distance to the sun
Oh wow, I can't believe I didn't notice that, you're right. Thanks for pointing it out!
I was going to make this very comment.
Yeah, me too...
Another great video! Found this channel when Cool Worlds shouted you out, and you honestly deserve so many more subscribers.
Same
Thank you so much!
I loved your "silly" thought experiment with walking across the solar system. It really brings things to perspective.
Loving your channel. Thanks for the awesome content.

👍
Can't wait until this channel blows up 🌌🌟
👍🚀That was really fun. Thanks! I have 56,000,000 steps on my current Fitbit. Guess I have a ways to go to get anywhere meaningful.

Universe may be way larger than we can imagine^^ so yea, weird stuff

Oh shit you are a brand new youtuber too. im ganna check out the rest of your content when i can. im a fan 😋
..and that was just the observable universe. The actual universe might be so much larger; perhaps infinite.
nicely put together, subscribed.
A very good video. Definitely worth subscribing to your channel. Waiting for some exciting stuff. Thanks for sharing. Please keep up the good work.

In spite of the unfathomable size of universal space time, I got to exist in the same space with you! Amazing!
The ant on the tree, is a perfect Babylon 5 reference. But instead of knowledge it's exspanchen.

Pretty crazy to think that the Parker Solar Probe continues to shatter the record for fastest manmade thing even!
However big it is.I think it is within the smallest particle of the next universe, that looks exactly like this universe.
since we have supermassive black holes instead of saying that long name you did in the video just call it ultra massive.
Damn you are so underrated. Great video!
A well edited informative video.
Huge is only relative to one's point of view and to the state of existence of a material universe and the consideration that others agree upon.
WOW It’s so much to fathom.😮 Good explanation 👍🤔
Ah the vastness of it all🤔truly awesome, thx for the info 👍✌️❤️
You are missing out consciousness? Which without, none of it would exist to begin with??
My grandfather would have a walk anytime he was stressed out and when he returned he had cleared his mind and all was well with him. We all need to take a walk once in awhile.
Nothing is as infinite as consciousness I'm afraid?!
Great video with interesting facts and gorgeous images of space!
Suddenly my problems don't seem that big.
Jesus could get round the planet on foot ..... yes he can walk on water
thank you for taking time to create something meaningful and interesting!

I pinned a comment pointing out the mistake, 3 days ago. I know about it!
This is one I particularly enjoy re-watchinĝ! Your presence gives me pause, SO fine! I would follow you, wherever... ❤
(ANYWHERE!)
you are so beautiful. your my new favorite to fall asleep to.

Happy to have you on my channel!
The difference between something and nothing is everything.
Ok, I subscribed.....awesome video!!
Great video, puts our everyday worries into perspective:)
The sun is 93 million miles away. Get it right!!
Have a sub. You entertained me all the way through

I haven't seen that video yet, actually, I suppose we found he information from the same sources!
At the 1 minute mark, you've got your Kms and miles mixed up.
Stick to miles - much more intuitive.
I'm aware of the mistake, others have pointed it out. I include both miles and kilometers because people from all over the world watch UA-cam videos.
She looks like she would be Edna Mode's niece!!
My head started to hurt about 9 min into this video...
Awesome video , humbling us everyone
Amazing!
We live on a tiny piece of Stellar debris.
Great job. Keep it up please 👏👏👏👏😊
