Thanks for producing battle reports that highlight generalship and narrative. Not nearly enough BR videos take advantage of retrospective narration. I have closed many a video after watching two guys chat with the camera cutting to each and every roll of the die. As for your BRs, I have watched every one through to the end.
I agree- the retrospective format has some advantages over live video cam ones. They're also a lot more sustainable for the creator because they're much easier and more enjoyable to make. You can also concentrate fully on the game while playing it (just remembering to take photos).
I really enjoy your style and eloquence in the delivery of these battle reports. Thanks very much for uploading them. Now that picture of a cup of tea has me craving one, time to put the kettle on.
Hi Luke, Something important to fill the lack of your knowledge! Impact: An impact is the action of one object hitting another, or the force with which one object hits another. The force with which one thing hits another or with which two things hit each other: The impact of the crash destroyed the car. I sense those archers may not be quite what they seem... I sense a woodland glamour at play! What a wonderful battle - I am glad to have seen it at last!
Fantastic, well paced narration filled with just enough imagery to keep me immersed, beautifully painted armies and scenery! Not sure what a 8th Ed battle report was doing in my feed but the algorithm got it right and got you Another sub!
Great report again! Your tactical analysis really brings a unique angle, that and the storytelling and cheese, of course! I'm London based so give me a shout if you're ever up for a game!
Thank you once again for a wonderful narration and your wonderful colorful armies!!! Very interesting as always! I'm gaining more and more power on the online version!
Excellent battle report! I really like your strategic analysis of the battle. I haven't played for over a decade. Now retired and taking the field against with my sons, sons-in-law and grandson. I'll ask them to subscribe. Cheers
Loved in Luke, definitely one of the most enjoyable reports. The other take out for me is how much I like scenarios over battle line. It shows how much you can turn things around even if things are falling apart.
Great report, didn´t see that outcome. As a 5th edition "hero-hammer" player who didnt play in 20 years, that bretonian lord reminded me of my brothers 5th ed vampire general beating up my whole army :(
Yes- rolling back the years 5th ed style! I think elements of the 5th (and particularly 4th) meta returned in 8th ed in respects of characters and magic. However, infantry also increased in power to counterbalance it, so it's a slightly more balanced experience than the herohammer era (which I count myself a fan of nonetheless).
Another great battle report as ever! I had the pleasure of playing Drew’s Bretonnians last year and my level 4 wizard (manfred von Carsten in that game) fell to the same fate as Galrauch. It must just be Drew! 😂
I'm definitely into conspiracy theories with Dimensional cascade. It happens to some people all the time (I am one, I think you are another) and others seem to make it happen to their opponent!
Hi Luke, there is No rule that you can't do the Impact Hits on the other unit, but there is a Part in the rule which says you have to Split the Impact Hits on the Units you're in Combat with If you're in a multiple Combat.
Great batrep dude! Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler What the fuukk? How did the archers do so well? Why did cheeseman die at that moment? How could the chimera fail so bad? How could a lord roll so many 6s? What a crazy game. And truly entertaining.
What an absolutely incredible game, a real nailbiter! Loving everyting about the presentation: armies and table are beautiful, and pictures+narration make it easy to follow. Your way of doing these is great, please continue to do so! P.S.: Please take no offense at this, but I'm not a huge fan of your cheesy roleplay/voiceacting. Just not my cup of tea. ^^'' P.P.S.: Also not a fan of the dead cat. ._.
Re-reading the rules, I looked carefully at this but all it seems to suggest that hits are randomised against units in base contact if there are more than one- so we certainly played it wrong in at least that respect. Another scenario a bit like this is when a knight charges with a lance through an overrun and then something charges him the next turn (say in the side). It seems odd that the knight can claim my +2 strength bonus from his lance against the thing in the side that charged him, but RAW seems to be I just get +2 strength on the turn I charge.
Yes, I play 4th, 5th, and 6th as well (and would learn 3rd and 7th if I found someone to play them with). Although in truth only very occasionally- my main games are 8th and T9A. However I would like to play a bit more 6th in particular - and do reports on it - and also that's still got a big fanbase and I think people would be interested to see it.

Thanks for the game Luke (and kind words!). It seems even more wild watching it back!
Indeed! It was ever inch worthy of being immortalised as a BR!
Great battle report Luke! And great game. Thrilled to hear another Brets player has entered the arena. For the lady 💪
Yes, and he's a true Bretonnian too!
I sense those archers may not be quite what they seem... I sense a woodland glamour at play!
What a wonderful battle - I am glad to have seen it at last!
Well, waywatchers are masters of disguise!
What an exiting match.
Loved the back and forth.

Thanks so much- (to you and the UA-cam algorithm!).
Great report again! Your tactical analysis really brings a unique angle, that and the storytelling and cheese, of course!

Thanks. Always interested to reach out to new gamers- what part of London are you based?
@DrBlaxill I'm based near Walthamstow village. I'll look you up and we can arrange something!
A highly, highly entertaining battlereport (as always) and not at all what I expected after the first turn!
Thank you once again for a wonderful narration and your wonderful colorful armies!!! Very interesting as always! I'm gaining more and more power on the online version!

Love the chaos ogres-as-trolls, gorgeous looking armies, and a much welcome less than an hour run time. Good shit.
Yes, the Jess Goodwin ogre sculpts are legendary, even some non-oldhammer people recognise them.
Really liking these battle reports, love the narration too. Keep ‘em coming!
How did I manage to miss this report and the one before!
+1 abo for the Dark Omen background music. He he he!
Glad to see that you indeed have reached a 1000 plus subscribers. Congrats! And the loft seems nice too.
Yes- delighted!
More please! ❤😊
Loved in Luke, definitely one of the most enjoyable reports. The other take out for me is how much I like scenarios over battle line. It shows how much you can turn things around even if things are falling apart.
Indeed- it's always exciting nice when one side loses on points but sneaks the objective.

Thanks for a very entertaining 40 minutes Luke!
What the music playing in the start to your narration that relly reminds me of the start of an mission in the old dark omen game.
That's exactly what it is 🙂

I Put a source-link under the comment
Yes. dead right. We should have randomised the hits between the two units.
🙌
what on earth was this game. seriously epic fiesta right there
Look at that! Four times your original subscriber goal only a year later. Congrats, mate!
Thanks. I'm sure that's the OW primarily though, the market is now much bigger than then
My favourite bit was what happened to Galrauch......
He also did that two games previously as well in round 5 in a tournament where I was in serious contention.
Great batrep dude!

It was certainly a wild game. There were points I must admit I couldn't believe the dice.

I bet you're pleased u didn't throw your Bretonnians away given that the Old World will be back one day and they may well be useable in the game.
Yes. Rumours on that front suggest it's highly likely the Brets will be back- I wouldn't be surprised if even in the starter set.
Hi Luke, I don't believe that you can put the impact hits on a unit that you didn't change!!
Re-reading the rules, I looked carefully at this but all it seems to suggest that hits are randomised against units in base contact if there are more than one- so we certainly played it wrong in at least that respect.

@@DrBlaxill didn't Catch that it was discussed Here :)
Excuse me, but is that by any chance a FRICKING TIGER SKIN RUG!?!?
My game room appears shamefully unadorned in comparison.
Yes. I have a leopard as well :-)
That was a very good battle report. I think you narrate these perfectly
Tiger rug on brand! I want one lol
Great game too, hope to see more! Have you ever consider playing other editions? did you play 6th?
Yes, I play 4th, 5th, and 6th as well (and would learn 3rd and 7th if I found someone to play them with). Although in truth only very occasionally- my main games are 8th and T9A. @@DrBlaxill I played a game of 6th this weekend and it was a blast! your stuff is always cool!
