In some parts of Europe, namely France, snails (or escargot) are a very popular meal and is often pretty pricey, so if you really think about it, your actually getting a fancy meal for absolutely free, and, you can feel good knowing that you made it yourself!
I collected alot of snails while in a residential neighborhood Oregon. I boiled them in salt water and them pulled out the critters and ate them with minced garlic. Delishous.
I breed and raise my own snails for food and I dispatch them the same way, straight into a hot oven or boiling water - or a fire or BBQ, any other way takes too long for them to die and they suffer needlessly.
Bob I just discovered you yesterday and I’ve already watched about 20+ vids, subscribed, and, even though I’m a retired IT guy and have watched tens of thousands of UA-cam videos, for the first time ever……I turned on notifications. I’m an outdoorsman myself. What all the hype-channels which focus on outdoorsy stuff don’t realize is that we real outdoors-people want to learn something new and interesting, but we also want to share your experience. As you take your time, eschew showmanship, and invite us into your adventures, we get to do that. Hats off Bob! I look forward to watching all the vids in your channel.
Just remember not to undercook ;) I've heard hospital stories of raw snail ingestion that resulted in brain eating parasites, snails carry a number of things.
idk what it is but this guys great to watch. Makes me want to survive in the wild! Have to say though, if I went out foraging I would always bring some salt with me. Everything's better with a little salt!
Wallfish, these were called in the UK during the war. I was a student in France, where of course snails are an institution. My dorm mates used to pick buckets of them off an abandoned tennis court on campus and cook them up with garlic, butter, and herbes de Provence (thyme, rosemary, basil, and oregano, which are weeds there.) Throw in a good red wine, you got a nice Friday evening. Thanks for the great video!
I went to a restaurant this past summer and they had escargot on the menu as an appetizer. It was like $10.99 or something like that. Went ahead and ordered it. Was disappointed that there were only FOUR friggin snails on the plate. Never again. I'm foraging my snails from now on and that don't cost me anything.
sgtjarhead99 you got ripped off minimum 6 normal 12 at that price. Canned snails are soon times found in gourmet section of major super markets and sometimes in a wine shop that sell cheese and such also. You might also try canned conch shell sauteed in butter and garlic, also good. Another source is internet .
I think if this guy is incredible. The simplicity in his instructions and cautiousness in which he prepares might keep somebody from starving someday. I had no idea that if you were to eat a roast meal you could die until today. Not that I was about to do it but I just didn't know and I've been cooking for a long time. So thank you for this video. After this he probaly went to go eat McDonald’s
Delishous.
I love how when he pulls the snails he's just like " *Yoink* "
I'll have to try that. I didn't know about the parasites. Thanks Bob
Riverbendlongbows Outdoors to be honest, why woulf anyone wanna live inside a slime bag in a shell
May flower true
May flower because its thicc jk cx
Just remember not to undercook ;) I've heard hospital stories of raw snail ingestion that resulted in brain eating parasites, snails carry a number of things.
I grew up in San Antonio and just moved to Von Ormy last week and your videos have got me hyped about living in the country. I love it out here.

I luv how he doesn't want the snails to have a slow and painful death but instead a quick death.

Snails are bugs, who cares if they die a slow death
....makes me wanta go find me a snail....the way he ate that, kinda made my mouth water..
idk what it is but this guys great to watch. Makes me want to survive in the wild! Have to say though, if I went out foraging I would always bring some salt with me. Everything's better with a little salt!
Whoa whoa whoa... go back... Bob, how did you start that fire?! What was that trick!?
Ha, waxed June, ferro Rod striker with an ugly stick behind it. Works great ;)
Bob Hansler ahhh... that's a lot less whimsical then I was hoping. Still gonna try it. Thank you! Love your work!
Bob is a wizard ranger
Another source is internet
.
Please note that you can use snailshells, clamshells, and any other calcium-rich shells for limestone!
Snail City council has frowned upon this action
Huck says: Dude, I dont eat French...this is Texas lol
Oui oui, finally someone who gets me...
The dog respectfully decline the food offer by turning his head away.😂😂✌️
Never thought I'd see someone argue for humanly killing bugs. This is the kind of wholesome stuff I need more of

Are these the ones i see in the garden?
yes
I think if this guy is incredible. The simplicity in his instructions and cautiousness in which he prepares might keep somebody from starving someday. I had no idea that if you were to eat a roast meal you could die until today. Not that I was about to do it but I just didn't know and I've been cooking for a long time. So thank you for this video. Go Texas!
just watched a few of your videos, but every time you feed your dog, it turns away lol
Love ur dog 😂
I love how you bought all the snails then placed them in the shot before recording just to pick them up!
lol
That antler would make a great knife handle
jessee odom can do better than that. It would look nice sure. But a waste of most of the antlers beauty.
