- ** EASY ** Suspension Setup On 2020 Float X2I've spent a fair bit of time on this shock now and I have to say, I'm extremely impressed BUT that will be in a different review video.
This one is more about the functionality and how easy it actually is for the average rider to set up and maintain their suspension.

High maintenance shock. In the first 6 months of owning a 2021 it has cavatated and replaced shaft and shaft body due to premature wear. Luckily fox covered it but holy moly. Makes me want a coil again.
Oh wow, that’s super unfortunate man. I’m sorry to hear that. I haven’t had the same issues at all. Maybe just a lemon? Must be if fox covered the repair.... In all reality you don’t get the same feeling from this air shock as you would from a coil BUT it’s pretty dam close which is why I like it so much. I hope this repaired unit treats you better. @@mtbbones I've had the exact same issues during the first 100 hours. Major overhaul required. Such a lemon it's not even funny
Same here. 1000kms on my bike and ready for an overhaul according to the LBS. I don't even ride that hard of trails and the biggest drop is about 2ft. Disappointed to say the least for a $13k bike.

I just had my 2021 X2 yesterday. Literally setup following your instructions and adding a spacer also. Now it's unbelievable. I wonder why it felt spongey and soft today. Didn't circulate the air every 50psi lol

Thank you for this video. Excellent. I’m planning to replace my RS installed on my Cannondale Moterra eBike with this Fox Float X2. What do you think about my choice? Another question: what is the meaning of the orange spacers installed inside the suspension?
My pleasure, thanks for watching!! I think that’s a solid choice to replace your old shock. This floatX2 is still going strong, I absolutely LOVE this thing. I should do a full review of that considering I haven’t posted in a long time… hmmmm…. The orange spacers are volume spacers, they help make your suspension more progressive and prevent bottom out. Based on the weight of the rider fully loaded with gear and your riding style, you will add or remove spacers to achieve the desired amount of ramp up near the end of the stroke.

Hello, I have a 2021 trek slash 9.7. My current shock is a fox DPX2 230x62.5mm. If I purchase a 2021 Fox float x2 230x65mm, will it work with no problems? Or will I need to remove/add spacers? (They don’t make the float x2 in 230x62.5mm)

Ok I am playing to replace my rock shock deluxe r and do I need to buy a 210x50 or can I remove spacers from a bigger size, I’m so confused
hey!! can I ask when setting it up from the very start should both rebound and compression be in the most open setting? then after pumping with air I can close and readjust according to fox's recommendation?
SpongeBob Squarepants you want the dampers to be fully closed (clockwise) and turn out from there. It shouldn’t matter if you had them fully opened or mid way when you filled with air.

Hi sir. I have been watching ur video a couple of time. I have the same shock. But mine rotates all together. You see when i rotate the lsc, the hsc also rotates with it. The same thing goes withe lsr and hsr. Tips to solve this problem?

Can you mount it the other way around? Like the chamber is on the other side closer to the rear wheel?
Sid Amameda great question actually, it doesn’t seem to work that way on the spartan but I do know on other bikes you can mount it that way.
I just tried to swap it around, it looks like the air can will hit the frame if I swap it around on the Spartan. A good way to test on your bike is to install it either way, leave the air pressure out and compress the suspension to see if it hits.
First hello, I have almost the same Rear SUspension, but with two blue caps ( I think this is from the last owner of my Bike) , can you advice me how I can make it to come back slower, because of this red one is missing, I can't make it to comeback slower .... 🤦♂️
Hey Hey 👋 that’s very interesting. It sounds like you only have compression settings which isn’t normally the case with this suspension. There must be a rebound knob or dial somewhere on the shock. Can you provide more information on the shock? Brand and model? It’s hard to pin point issues without a little more information. 😀
@@mtbbones Thanks for the answer first brother, It is the same Fox DH I thing, It's from my Scott Gambler 2017 model, you can see it in google as well, only the blue knob its normal, without this finger spin( don;t know how its the name of this 😁) . :)
@@freeridetony ok so I googled the 2017 Scott gambler and any one I found with a float X2 had both the red and blue adjustments (rebound and compression) I did not find one with only two compression and no rebound. I am interested to see what your exact shock looks like. Any way you can upload a short video and send me the link?

When you remove that oring does it void your warranty? I haven't put any in mine an when I adjust compression an rebound it feels like it's doing absolutely nothing. I'm at my breaking point just dropped a shit ton of money on this shock an it feels like it's broken.
BL'ND S'GHT Absolutely not, it is meant to be easily removed so the user can add or remove spacers as needed. It will NOT void your warranty.
BL'ND S'GHT Deflate the air from your shock VERY SLOWLY, remove the O-ring, slide off canister, snap in desired amount of spacers, slide on canister, snap O-ring back in place, add 50PSI then cycle your suspension through 25-30% of its travel 10-15 times (this equalizes the air chambers) repeat that every 50PSI until desired PSI is reached. Follow the recommended high/low speed compression and rebound settings as per Fox’s website.
You never showed high speed rebound. Which direction is closed for the HSR?
Hey bud, I certainly did show the high speed rebound at 12:52. I covered all of the high/low speed rebound and compression settings including where the closed position is. Have a peek back into the vid around the 11 minute mark for settings. Cheers 🍻
@@mtbbones Thanks but wasn’t that High speed compression? My 2021 high speed rebound is a red wheel/dial at the end of the canister that uses a 2mm hex wrench. Must be different from 2020 to 2021
@@bhbdvm1821 no problem, literally at 12:36 I start adjusting the high and low speed rebound. High speed at 12:52.

@@mtbbones Thanks for your quick replies. My shock doesn’t have the two settings in the red dial like yours. Mine is a separate dial on the back of shock. You are correct for your shock but different for mine. Thanks again!
What’s your ready to ride weight? I’m about 200lb and running 250psi
Hey buddy, I’m 220lbs fully loaded. I run 250PSI and 2 volume spacers, paired with the middle rebound and compression settings from fox I haven’t found the bottom yet so it’s great for my every day rides, bigger sends and bike park days will probably see me at 250PSI and 3 volume spacers. How do you have it set up aside from air volume and how does it feel?
Grahamulous I’m running 4 volume spacers. I was running 225 psi and felt I was blowing through the travel pretty quick until they very end of the stroke, wasn’t quite getting to bottom out. Still tinkering with it but I bumped it to 250, and sped up the rebound a bit. It’s still felt good on chunky stuff but maybe a little flat is the right word? Linear perhaps? I’m on a Ripmo and it rips, but I’m definitely still playing with it. I’m probably closer to 210lbs with water.
Pierre Beauchamp 4 volume spacers hey? You don’t find it ramps up too hard and takes away from it’s tracking on smaller bumps? Every frames suspension knematics are different I suppose. I would be interested to try tuning on a different frame. Can you keep me posted on where you end up with tuning down the road?
Pierre Beauchamp I also find with 2 spacers on my setup, that I’m using all the travel with maybe 1/8” to spare and that’s right where I like it. Top end is super supple and still feels poppy but doesn’t blow through too quick.
Grahamulous Will do. I was following a Ripmo thread on Mtbr and even smaller guys were running 3-4 spacers so I think it definitely depends on the frame but I’ll keep you posted.
how good is the lock out for climbing vs dpx2
Hey there! If I’m 100% honest I don’t have a lot of miles on the DPX2 but I will say for a shock that is supposed to be “downhill oriented” the Float X2 climbs very well. I feel like it sits high in its travel when climbing (locked out) but maintains its traction when you hammer on it for those punchy sections. I believe my Spartan in easier to climb with this shock fully tuned for my weight and riding style than every before. I hope this helps a bit. 🍻
