      Not really lol. Just different tone. Try ask Morgan Freeman to narrate suspension setup. With Han Zimmer as scoring. And directed by Christopher Nolan.

    This is the best technical video I have seen in quite some time. Chris Porter took a deep dive into the material rather than just handing out factory spec. guidelines. Although he suggested baselines he explained what to look for while adjusting for terrain/surface and rider style. Great explanations! Thanks so much! That was a true Master Class.

      Here I an one year later to seccond that. I would like to add that the reporter was great by staying silent and letting the master teach, his tone overflows knowledge and commands attention with ease... beautifull... as a newbie learned so much from this great video... I'm watching this 2 years later, still spot on.

    This is probably one of the best suspension setup video's I've watched. I love how the focus is on setting it up to the rider. Notice how he glossed over sag/air spring rate and said that will change based on how hard you're pushing the bike. Explaining how he gets balanced and focusing on no compression unless needed to adjust ride high in certain sections of trail is huge. Much much better than the other sag/rebound/compression setup videos.

    love his honesty. "don't use that" (the high speed compression on the fork). saying you should try to get the air pressure and volume spacers to do the work of getting it balanced and correct before you start using compression. Good stuff

    How amazing would it be to have him setup our bikes! I've got missed feelings after watching this video. On one hand I now realize just how amazing a proper suspension setup it. On the other hand I'm wondering if I will ever even come close to knowing enough to get my suspension dialed in. Even if I think my suspension is dialed in today I'm going to wonder if it could be better. Great video!

    Great video, Im a return mountain biker after an 18 year gap. Sooo much to learn. My other bikes were coil so good to get an understsnding. Ive had to learn all the riding skills again so Im not very agressive out on the track. I was only using half the travel from other recommended setups. I see now that I need to set it up for me and by current riding style. Thank you for this, great vid!

      I have a CCDB, fairly straight forward to set up if you ask me. Just get to understand what the knobs are doing first, then get a good middle setting. Fine tune when riding a familiar track: right amount of lsc so the bike is balanced when cornering and pumping, ride some rocks/roots and see if there's any harshness, meaning the hsc is too heavy, see if it does follow the terrain nicely, if not back down the lsr a bit. Do some lippy jumps and see if the bike's either too bucky (too little hsr) or feels lethargic (slightly too much hsc) then pedal for a bit and feel if the bike's bobbing around too much (too little lsr).
      And don't be put off by the number of clicks, really wide range but this can be narrowed down quite a bit to a useable range of about 7-8 clicks, everything outside that are bs settings that you can easily identify as such if you know how a bike should feel.

    Asking why you would want your front end to ride "higher" while climbing is a bit of a misunderstanding of terms I would think. All it does it to keep the bike from diving in situations where you literally do not need much suspension. I would agree with him. I run full open all the time....but I can understand where a bigger out of the saddle climber may need that "dive protection switch" when climbing.....

    Great video but I’m still confused due to conflicting information on the net, I’ve Fox 34 Elite 2017, ride all sorts really but try to stay off fire roads. So the Ride Fox website says 15 to 20% for my model (actually they only list 120mm but mines 130) sag tool provided was for 120 as well. Most other videos including this one state 25 - 30% sag. So in my case rode all the black runs at my local trail centre fairly spicy i would say and only used 70% of my suspension all day. Do i ignore the FOX website and go with 30% which may help me use all my suspension or carry on using 15 - 20% and try volume spacers? Surly fox that designed the fork knows best?

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  6 років тому +1

      Try a slightly lower pressure in the fork and slightly more sag. Don't add volume spacers, as this will only make it harder to use all the travel.

    • @neilclarke8817

    Did he just add one compression spacer in place of the red one? 80 KG myself and running about 170psi and already added one extra in place of the red one (three total) is it safe to run 2 extra total of 4 in a 2.25 shock?

  • @kay19833
    @kay19833 5 років тому

    Ok, I weigh 95kg 100 at most. I ride a Giant anthem 2015 27,5 120 F 90mm R. I ride everything actually on this bike. I find it hard to hop a 10cm street curb without hitting denting my rear wheels. It's annoying. I know it's my tire pressure and suspension setup. What do you guys suggest?
    I currently run 95psi front and 235psi-240psi in the rear shock. rebound is one thing I don't understand. the rear is very slow just 2 clicks to fully open/slow and the front on fork is like halfway/12clicks (21 clicks altogether)
    I run 2.2 rear TR tires 38psi when dry and 28 in wet conditions 2.2 front 35 dry 26psi wet.
