Nice vintage boat. I'd have trouble with such confined space. As a land based person, I couldn't help thinking how inefficient I am in my home space. I look at this and realize one could live aboard and use this efficient space. I wonder why I have so much space allocated to just two people, but it is what I am used to. But it is kind of silly given many rooms I just use occasionally. But then I like the variety.

They were bunks. The definition is a narrow shelflike bed either alone, aside others or most commonly associated with one stacked upon another.
Much like the magazine for a gun is the container holding the ammunition but a large building holding ammunition is also a magazine. I really appreciate the work that you do and especially the way that you do it. I'm subscribed to several similar channels and whenever one has a boat that I like I immediately look to see if you have covered it because the style of your art is....comforting? As well as perfectly paced and you go much further into the specifics that I'm interested in without bogging down the rhythm. I hope that you and those you care for are happy, healthy, and safe this new year. Semper Fidelis P.S Please forgive me for any misspellings words that are out of context or poor punctuation. I lost my hand in Afghanistan so now I dictate rather than type and the program is not perfect.

I bought a boat to live on and it was great, for a while. You have to be prepared to spend more on upkeep, slip fees and utilities, etc. than a house. And unlike the fact that a house will appreciate in value, a boat won't. In other words, be prepared to lose all your investment!

You have never heard of Morse Controls? Teleflex Morse have been making Bowden Cable control systems since the Bowden Cable was invented. IIRC they are the oldest maker of cable control systems still in business, almost every sub 30 metre commercial vessel of that age and older in the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand used Morse Controls. In fact, Bowden cables are more commonly known as Morse cables in many countries. In some markets, Teleflex Morse are now known as Kongsberg but it's the same company.

I have owned 3 powerboats and 3 sailboats here in SoCal, all off them have had Morse controls and cables. Can be a bitch to replace the cables due to how they are routed, but the norm OEM for most boats in the US. Done with this couple, no clue on boats and suggesting people to buy a boat to live on as opposed to a house. I spend more on my boat than my 1.5 mil house, these videos are totally misleading, btw both my boat and house are both paid for.

    • @marvindebot3264
      @marvindebot3264 9 днів тому

Agreed, the rule of thumb is 10% of the value in maintence per year but in the case of cheap boats it will be more more like 20 to 25 percent. @@brianrogers6059

Superb old girl.. looks like she has been taken care of very well. Lots of old school varnished wood, 125hp engines. You know that's from the 80s
40 year boat she appears to aged very well. Love the old school stern
She would be a great large lake vessel, overnights, with ski boats and grand kids.

A lot of the folks who watch your channel (like me) dream about having a live-aboard vessel like this. At this price range, quite a few of us, especially those selling property with plans to retire, could make the switch. This boat is old but has been well cared for, and could provide great memories to a new family hoping to get out on the water. Thanks for this series - I think a lot of us appreciate it. I do at least. BTW, is it for sale? I don't think you said.

Pocket doors on land go back A LONG TIME. I know older Victorian era homes built in the 1870's/1880's in my area have them. Usually they seperate the front "parlor" from the dining room that is directly behind it. IE if you were entertaining back in the day, once supper was finished you moved into the parlor, closed the pocket doors while the help cleared the table.

Adding a 10mm cork sea deck outside and above the main aft cabin would make this vessel look great not only is it super grippy even more than teak it lasts as long ..it's great under foot cushions the feet and protects the deck surface against dropped items and footwear.
It insulates against sound, heat gain and loss it's also non toxic and flame retardant ... recyclable. 🤷🏻🧙🏻‍♂️
As for pocket doors definitely in Victorian and Edwardian houses. Probably industrial and farm buildings as well on boats and other such .. 50s 60s definitely 70s on in caravans and boats.
A nice older boat for a couple or a family.. balistic polycarbonate panels could make those side rails safe and keep the weather off and still keep a clear view where required. That aft deck roof is perfect for solar even walk on .
The engine room is supremely practical..because you can get round stuff and those engines were often found in tractors if not mistaken.... So sloggers.
Following this boat owners maxim , a boat is for life not just a fling..😉
Going wild there's plenty of space to even go electric diesel generator drive .. probably increasing performance, efficiency and removing noise, vibration and fumes.
And if anyone says that's not going to work I can give you two excellent examples from Japan or Korea and a 61 ft steel live aboard built for a guy who lives in Norway all year round and whose slow cruising philosophy means his generators burn 0.5 litres per hour in powering the e motors ... I'm checking that again I'm still 😮 the modern patrol boat works out at 30% more fuel efficient.. 🧙🏻‍♂️🏞️

I have a idea that I'll never be able to do because of my poverty and injury. You know the thick plastic that tuna comes in,I have used them for a wallet for decades because they keep everything dry. If you put a zipper,zip-lock on it and you could put your own art on them and even make them collectable and call them " Dry-Doc" ( get it ,dry document's). It's perfect for you two.
On more thing is that the bottom corners is the part that wears out first so you might want to redesign them a little bit,or not. But I have had this idea for a long time. I am good with art and liked the idea of putting my art out there. Super cheap.

In 1878, post Civil War, an inventor named Paul Pocket built, sold and installed the first "hiding, sliding door". The vessel was the S.S. Minnow. SS stood for Steam Ship which was confusing because the vessel had a gasoline engine. That is why people began calling the door "Pocket Door". Same thing happened to Bill Crapper's invention, the flush toilet that folks began calling "crappers". BTW - a lot of this information is documented.

It’s a nice, affordable, classic yacht. It’s actually 52’ long. Usually I am enthralled by the wood on these old boats, but this one not so much. It’s workable and a good value.

My parents house, built in ‘54, had a pocket door between the hallway to the bedrooms and the kitchen/living area.

Lovely yacht , lovely introduction , awesome couple of narrators , my best choice at this time is to rent a yacht for a short trip , i havent tried the live on the water life yet , id like to dip a toe in gently with a knowledgeable couple and caption for the helm , before i upgrade my current yacht , a restored 1993 26' aquasport osprey , it might have to do for my yacht desires and long distance cruises , just roughening it ..😂

I've seen large pocket doors in homes from the 1800s here in Pennsylvania. They do go way back. Most memorable one was a large, 6' at least opening that was a double pocket door. One on each side. It closed off the Parlor from the rest of the house. Unfortunately they no longer functioned so they were stuck in the open position.

I don’t know about on yachts, but pocket doors have been around since the mid 1700’s. I saw a tour in an English manor that was built in the 1740’s and the smoking saloon had original double pocket doors. They even had a transverse geared mechanism behind the walls that had the doors open away from each other evenly. I love your adorable yacht series. Actual boats some of us could afford to live aboard. Cheers from Florida. 🌴🌴🌴⛵️

Ton of space for a 52' boat!! I dunno how many radars/chart plotters you need on a vessel like this, I would be cruising the inter-coastal waterway, Pensacola bay, maybe some offshore fishing on nice days. Wouldn't be doing any long voyages.
