    I highly recommend you get set of 3/8" wobble extensions. They make this and many other tasks where a socket is required in a tight spot much easier. I got mine here: amzn.to/33OavBm
    Make sure to get a good trim pry tool set. I recommend this one: amzn.to/3G4Efae

    I made a fix. Cut a disc from the base of an alu beer can and push it into the space so the concave side is facing out and it holds on the thread. You could lock it using a pin.

    Thanks! Just did this! Missed the part where the gear comes off the shaft but we just hammered the old gear off and new one on with a socket as you said in the comments.

      Yup. Easy to do with a socket. I bet it feels great to have a working power seat again

      @@NKPGarage Yeah its great. Any idea why there may be a slightly uneven movement? Would that be because the alignment isnt perfect or because the gear may not be greased correctly?

    • @NKPGarage
      @NKPGarage  5 місяців тому

      @@luketaylorZA do you mean like the left side and right side aren’t even? If that’s the case you may have gotten the two rods slightly misaligned during installation. Will need to take the seat back out and adjust the left threaded rod and right threaded eod to be even and then put it back together.

    I have been following the instructions. How did you remove the old gear from the splined shaft? Does that need a presss. In the video it magically appears. Mine does not want to come off.

    • @NKPGarage
      @NKPGarage  Рік тому +4

      I just used a deep socket over it and tapped it lightly with a hammer to get it off. And then did the opposite to top it back on and position the new gear onto the "teeth" on the rod.

    have you ever had the motors completely stop working? i sense i have an issue that doesnt directly involve the motor as on both seats all other functions work except the back and forward (no sound coming from the motor)

    • @NKPGarage
      @NKPGarage  5 місяців тому

      Anything could happen I guess. But it is unlikely that both seats have bad motors. Have you done a visual check to see if the plastic end caps are still there?

    I need to replace the gears ⚙️ on both seats. Your seat covers appear new. Do you have a recommendation for new leathers. I figured that once they are out, do everything. Thanks for your time.

    great how to, but i went different route on parts, i got mine made of brass from ebay and for the missing worn end cap, i got from home depot 1/4' brass cap and after happy $25 i called done deal for each seat sets of gears and caps.

    • @NKPGarage
      @NKPGarage  2 роки тому

      Great idea as well! How was the installation with the brass gears? Did you have to press them on? And when they went on were they a nice tight fit? I saw those as well, but never gave them a try.

    Good video! I noticed that the bracket that is connected to the threaded rod appears to be attached to an extension on both sides? Can you share some info on them? I would like to go back a little further with the seats.

      You can get the seat extension brackets from a few places. They add around 2" more leg room. Cruiserparts.net has them here: shop.cruiserparts.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=150

    Thanks for the video, I’ve gone back to this 3 times already. Is it normal to have a little play in the seat? If I grab my steering wheel and push back and then pull forward I can feel the seat move. Not much maybe a quarter inch or so. Just enough to notice it move. I’m not sure if I did something wrong. Also, is there a torque spec for the nut at the end of the shaft?

    • @NKPGarage
      @NKPGarage  10 місяців тому

      A small amount of play is normal with them. Being 25yrs old. But 1/4” sounds like a lot. Have you tried removing the seat, laying it upside down on the ground and seeing where the play is? Incase it is loose somewhere?
