    Interesting differences.
I got mine at the end of November when the price dropped. I got a blue one and I don't know if the color matters, but the blue one delivered here in Central Florida came with full color photographic graphics on a box that was triple corrugated. I used to be a Schwinn dealership factory trained mechanic, and I've seen many bikes make the short trip from Chicago Schwinn to Oklahoma in worse condition than my bike did coming from the other side of the planet.
My headset was correctly adjusted, as was my front hub. My crank, however was severely loose with a lot of side play at the end of the crank arms. I still have a full set of bike tools, so adjusting the bottom bracket bearings wasn't a problem, but that shouldn't have gotten through QC.
My wheels were true, and there was no damage to any of the sheet metal - thanks to enough zip ties for your typical Chicago riot. In addition to the bottom bracket adjustment my brakes needed a little bit of centering and the rear derailleur cable was set a little bit on the loose side for correct indexing. Minor adjustments and completely typical for a bike out of the box.
The crank arms look thin for aluminum cranks, but they aren't aluminum cranks. They're steel, and I can't detect any flex in them.
The seat post clamp on mine didn't have a problem with clamping pressure - it had a problem with the seat tube not having been narrowed down adequately. By taking the seat post out, clamping the seat post clamp, releasing it, turning the adjusting nut in and reclamping a few times, the original seat post clamp worked fine.
The rack is also worth mentioning. It's another steel part, and even though it's not a sexy aluminum Blackburn expedition rack, it's rated for 40 lb, which is decent at any price point. I wish they'd put some sort of bungee hook at the bottom of the rack stays but that's easy to improvise.
Hyper did not include water bottle cage bosses on their frame, but they did include a nice touch under the seat stays, frame lock bosses. I put an old Abus lock I had on. That's kind of a nice touch and that shows Hyper didn't just phone this in, somebody there actually has ridden city bikes, probably in Europe (although this kind of lock is also common in Asia.)
I'm okay with the contour and padding of the seat, but the shell is stiffer than it needs to be. On the two bikes I'll ride most often I will either be on a Brooks B17 leather saddle or a Selle Italia saddle. But I know some people prefer bike seats that can double as living room furniture, so this is pretty subjective.
I've had one of the tires off. I doubt they have the puncture protection of a Panasonic tour guard or a Schwalbe Marathon, but they seem pretty decent at this price point and they're rated to 80 psi - I don't think I'll be replacing these until they wear out.
I may be replacing the brake cable housing. This stuff this came with is pretty squishy and I know the brakes can seem ineffective when it's really a cable or housing problem. I am grateful that it has rim brakes because I will take inexpensive rim brakes over the horror that is inexpensive disc brakes any day. Good disc brakes are a modern marvel, but cheap disc brakes are a nightmare that Hyper spared us from on this bike.
The rack also has a regulation lighting bracket. I tossed the stock reflector and put a Portland Design Works tail light bracket on it so I can clip in whichever Portland Design Works or Planet Bike light I want.
The forks are budget friction units. They won't smoothly glide over the small ripples, but they will soak up some of the bigger bumps at least. The handling is quite nice city bike handling. A slightly long wheelbase and modest fork rake gives the bike a stable feeling at speed, even in fast corners, but it's still agile enough to maneuver downtown. Loaded or unloaded, it hasn't done anything squirrely yet.
I have just over 500 miles on mine, so far nothing's rattling. I've gotten as much as 25 miles on a charge, and although I was on the last LED, it seemed like they were probably still a few electrons rattling around in there.
Overall, I'm quite happy with the bike. Hyper obviously made some price point choices, but you never get the feeling that they did things the absolute cheapest way possible. The bike is perfectly satisfactory for its intended use out of the box.

I have the same bike. But, I replaced the front chainring with a chainring set I pulled off of a donor bike. The chainring that is on this one is around 34T, (I forget), and I upgraded to a 48T front sprocket. What that did for me was, now it feels much easier to pedal without feeling I'm tiring myself out. So, if you feel like you pedal incessantly when it's not needed just to keep the motor running, consider jumping up to a higher tooth sprocket in the front.

Not to be political, but the price increase is primarily the result of the trade war tariffs. Chinese sporting goods were hit with particularly high tariffs, of which budget ebikes fall, and those tariffs are still in effect today. The reason the price increase lagged so far behind the actual cost at the point of sale is because the bikes being sold up until the increase were already in stock, having been imported pre-trade war. From now until the trade war ends (likely never at this point) expect the prices to remain high. Inflation is also a factor of course, but not nearly as high as tariffs. Take note of how government policies have a direct impact on the governed.

Look again at the seat clamp. It's proly adjustable tension by screwing in the lever 1 or 2 turns. Or you might reposition the hex nut opposite the lever to get a preferred tension that allows your lever to clamp even with the body of the clamp.

Got the same bike, it sure helps when you know what you're looking at. If my fenders start rattling, I might have to tighten the screws.

I have something similar but it's 700c. The important thing to do is replace the tires with flat resistant tires.

I just bought my hyper electric bike 2 weeks ago, I have a question has anyone ever heard of the chain in the front tire getting stuck and the bike raking off at full speed ??
That happened to me, brought the bike down from the 2nd floor then turned on the battery. After as I was holding on to the handle bars to get on the bike, the bikes takes off on me while I'm still hold on and takes me with it. The bike hits the floor and I fly right on top of it. Knees swollen bruised, chest bruised, bump on my breadt , and bruises on left arm

Barring a close inspection of the dropouts, the frame looks pretty sturdy. decent tires.
This bike's probably okay without the battery, but I don't know the weights involved. I'm
tempted to checking out, but I'm big & old. For a younger person in good health it
    ought to be fine?

I like your video but why didnt you show the test drive!!!!!???!!!! And is it a true ebike that can run without the rider peddling... do I have to keep peddling for the motor to engage???
I guess I will buy my own $398 bike so I can make a proper instructional video.

I have this bike and it's an hour or 20 miles if you barely assist. I only use the electric assist on hills, more like 3 hrs.

    What's the weight limitation?

That depends on how big your head is. You don't want to look like a float going down the road.

This was a Black Friday sale that started a little early - I think I got mine at the end of November and the price held through at least January, maybe February.

The black 700c City model was at $398 for a short period of time. The blue 700c City model (same bike, just color difference) was also at $398 for a period of time - I think it was last November, or thereabouts. The price fluctuates, it may be when there's slow periods, they go down in price. I've purchased 6 of these, in total, and I have zero complaints from my friends who have either received them as gifts or bought them from me. I've also purchased a different Hyper model -- more like a mountain bike with 26 inch wheels. I am definitely a fan of these Hyper bikes -- well made, great entry-level Class 1 electric bikes. I have also seen these in at least two Walmarts in the last year -- the normal retail is $598 for the blue model (per the sales card inside the box with the bike).
Also note there is another, newer black mid-drive City model that I saw recently, and it sells for $1398 - not sure the make of the mid-drive motor.
