USB Loader GX Issues FIXED! (No partition found & USB device not initialized)

- In this video, I show you a couple solutions to problems on USB Loader GX. In summary, you will need to use a second storage device so you can store apps on one that is formatted to FAT32, and a USB drive that we format to wbfs using Wii Backup manager.

I had this issue and I solved it thanks to a little thing you said « homebrew cant play apps and games on the same drive ». I had an « app » folder on my drive with the games. It was empty but that was the cause of the issue. Once I deleted it, and reset the parameters in loaderGX it worked just fine. You didn’t solved it but you did it anyway. Thank you.

Using an SD Card via a USB Reader making the Wii U (vWii) think it's a USB inserted which now works great after making the drive a WBFS partition

I had a ntfs 1tb drive and had to repartition it into two parts (100 gb for wbfs and 900 for the rest in case I wanna use it for something else) . this worked like a charm, thanks man

Hi, what’s the max hard drive size I can use for this wbfs format? I got this same issue on vWii and this video solved it for a 128gb usb stick, but I want to upgrade to a hard drive. Is 2TB too big?
@@spitefullymy try partitioning a part of the drive to something like 128 gb to NTFS and then formatting it to wbfs with Wii backup manager. Usually 2 TB drives use GPT format (instead of MBR) which some platforms don't support.

i followed this and the cIOS dx installer with the settings inthe pinned comments, im using a 64gig sandisk SD card, ive transfered several Europe version games (console is E) but when i load USB GX installer, i still get the "no wbfs or fat/ntfs/ext partition found" message, ive repeated this step several times and nothing.
My games wont start everything is good and show up but when i click start it just takes me back to homebrew channel

Ive done everything the video says, as soon as i enter the ubsloader it shows nothing and doesnt work.
If i go into it with the usb connected on the other dock, usbloader opena but obviously with no games, how do i fix it?
Did you fine a fix mine does the same found a workaround though. Once I am in the homebrew channel there's a icon at bottom right for homebrew launcher once launched all USB and all games appear
I realised my usb stick was 3.0 so instead of buying a new one I used a sd card reader and another sd card, IT ACTUALLY WORKED LOL

The games are on my USB. I followed all of your steps and got to the wii menu inside USB Loader GX, but none of my games pop up. I made sure the wii games box was check off and it was. I even unchecked it and checked it again and the games still did not pop up. It says "Games: 0" at the bottom. Do you know how to resolve this issue?
I had the same issue, after messing around I was able to fix it by going into Usbloader gx settings, then hard drive settings, and switching SD card mode to ON. not sure why this fixed it, but give it a shot if ur still having issues!
@@bridgettemilligan2257 will this work without an SD card? I bought a Wii off eBay and it came with boot mii and homebrew already installed but no SD card came with it. I don’t have an SD card to use at the moment so I just want to confirm if this works

hi. i am using a 64gb kingston flash thumb drive to store the games.
The flash drive is formatted as FAT32 where all wii format files are transferred using Wii Backup Manager.
My problem is GX loader can load the games but when I tried lanching each of the games, it went to a black screen and these games were not running.
Any ideas for such error? Thanks in advance.

Dude your a freeking legend I was about to send my wii flying out the window. As my games loaded then kept going back to the dam menu so started again with this method.
My Wii controller input freezes when I try to open a game and I have to restart the Wii to reconnect it can someone help my with this problem? Also the disc slot lights up wen it freezes.

I have an HD which is already WBFS but is not being recognized by the USB Loader nor Windows, should i assume it's dead? It still displays the led as on however.
You can try to go into Create and Format hard disk partitions in windows to find the usb drive
How can you even call this a fix? I've been following your tutorials the last 12 hours straight and they've led me to here which is frustrating because this video completely contradicts the other videos of yours I've watched and it has made this whole experience SO confusing I want to pull my hair out. What's the point of modding a wii if you can't play gamecube games? From my understanding, gamecube games can only be played in iso format and if it can't read iso than wouldn't that mean this only works with wii games? this CANT be the only solution. and it CANT be the sd card because ive tried 3 different SDs and 2 different flash drives. All were fat32 formatted prior and still nothing. Saying the wii doesnt recognize the usb/sd doesnt make any sense to me considering all the apps for homebrew show up when the sd gets plugged in. So we know the storage device can be read. Its got to be a file issue. I know im one of many thatve followed your tutorials and are now stuck at this exact point. We desperately need a real fix for this. what a nightmare this has been.

There is a way to fix it, once you're in USB loader GX you can just go into the settings and click hard drive settings and make sure to go to the very top where it says (game/install partition) and make sure it says what it is(you may need to click it) then head back go to tile sources at the top where it looks like a file thing and press Wii games and all of them should pop up

Double check that they are the right format and the proper region for your wii
So I’m no longer getting the usb not initialized error but the games are just not showing up even though I have wii games selected to show up. Do you know what I could be doing wrong. And the usb device is lighting up signifying it’s connected.
You could try the other USB port and also Check that all your games are wbfs format

Btw the reason I got that error is because I use an SD card and accidentally went into HDD mode. Switching to SD mode turned off the Wii Games setting for some reason and turned on Nand Channels. Weird.

Hi great tutorials much appreciated. I've got a tdk usb only 4gb format fat32 works great. Did the came thing on 128gb SanDisk usb games show on loader. But when I press start the wii locks up. Is it just a case of incompatible usb. Thank you for your time.

Hey, I have 2 consoles in which both have been modified. Why does my sd card work with no problem but when I put it in the other console it shows the back ups but when I try to play them it just returns to the apps menu? Is there a video on this

@@slowwpo8995 I tried a few different combos, and had problems when putting everything on a sd and had ur problem. but i went back to having all the apps on the sd, putting the games on the usb (after formatting to wbfs and changing the names to the game id) and it works now
Thank you, with 2 usb sticks it worked for me, but sticks are going to bend cause they are very near to each other.
I tried to use an sd card, i installed the both apps onto it, but they dont get recognized. I can only format the sd card to NTFS or exFAT...
I used exFAT right now, but as i said it didnt work. I cant launch the usb loader gx

I'm having an issue when the games are transferring to the destination drive. At the 4:23 mark, when you mention that the transfer will take some time, it doesn't for me. Also, after the (very short) process completes, the results are in red, indicating an error in transferring. Any ideas? I've tried multiple source files and locations, after the initial drive format to wbfs, of course.

@@Darkmanzdogg I fixed it. My issue was that I was trying to load GameCube games into the Wii backup manager when I was supposed to be using GameCube Backup Manager software instead

My Wii had the error where it put the Home Screen on usb loader gx so I tried this out and it didn’t work so I was wondering does the usb card you store the games on matter what brand it is?
Before I tried loading games on my device, I managed to get he loader to mount my device. I had it formatted to FAT32. I think this was before installing the custom os. Now when I plug it in with a game loaded via wii backup manager it loads into sd mode. I have my apps etc installed on a SD card and my games on a wbfs formatted usb stick. But I still get the same error... I am not sure where I went wrong

Hey I recently came across your channel and am very thankful for your usb loader gx videos. By any chance do you have any information on Wii flow as well? Regarding getting dlc to install there? I know it’s a shot in the dark but I’m genuinely curious.
I'm not very familiar with wiiflow unfortunately, I've only used it to play a couple games. I'm not sure how to get dlc for games on there or usb loader gx actually. Are you on the wii or the wii u(Vwii)

I tried upgrading my 64 to 128gb usb but it didn't work until I made the 128gb to WBFs, is there any way to get my gamecube games to show since wbfs is just wii?
USB drive shows up on the Wii and it reads the available storage correctly, however my games show up nowhere on the usbloader. The files are in wbfs and in the correct directories. The Wii games box is checked, the thumb drive is compatible and in fat32 format. The file is named correctly and in correct GameID. I need help
THIS did it for me also. I've seen nothing about formatting in this method.
It's usually a backup method since it's best to have fat32, but it's good to know in case that doesn't work! :)
I was wondering if I could use a 128GB USB stick instead of a SD card as it would hold more games. Is that an option and do you need to repeat the install of the CIOS, etc if you switch from using an SD card. Also can I just add in the USB drive without having to convert it to wbps file system?I noticed the SD cards run a lot faster than the USB sticks.
you can use the usb drive instead, and if it is compatible with ulgx, you can format to fat32 so you can store apps as well. I have a good PNY 128gb in the description of my videos that i use sometimes
Problem ? The wii can not load images from the usbloader gx. It say " can not create directory " , also say " usb8 : / apps / usbloader_gx "....also 2D / full / disc / cache_bnr.

I'm having an issue where installing a game from disc to my USB flash drive in USB loader gx doesn't work. My wii just freezes everytime i try it. I can install games to an SD card just fine but not the flash drive for some reason. It is detecting my flash drive but it won't install games to it. Are my USB loader gx settings wrong or something?
I selected “SD Card mode” - OFF and “mount USB at launch” to ON, but it still selects SD card at launch (brings back SD card mode to ON automatically)… any idea how to fix this? 🙏🙏🙏
I had a similar issue where it said "USB not initialized. Switching to channel list instead" and I solved the issue by formating to Fat32. I really do not know what I'm doing but I hope this helped someone

hey man i have a 32gb usb drive from walmart that i got over 3 years ago and i found it after using a 8 gb sd card for the wii and i came across a problem it doesn't show up in the path section for wii flow but for some reason it does for nintendont i am kinda confused but i will try this out and see if it works by the way the usb brand is call onn

When I used my usb stick it worked fine I was able to play my games with no crashes. but after I wanted to play a different game, usb loader gx doesnt recognize my usb stick anymore I tried everything but nothing works does someone maybe know how to fix it

No I went to the wii menu and started usb loader again and then it didnt read any of the games
So can I just use an external hard drive and an SD card? Nothing extra required? And will reformatting the SD card affect anything in Wii U mode?
when I do this, only the apps usb drive will load games. Games hard drive works in nintendont but not USB loader gx
so when i open usb loader it opens but it doesnt show ne anything its a white screen withe 2 blue lines in the bottom
My usb drive is being read but it doesn’t pop up on in usb loader gx at the bottom it says 0.12GB of 0.12GB free but I’m using a hard drive 2 terabyte
