For GX loader if you’re loading Wii games you “found”. I HIGHLY recommend adding (installing it) it to your hdd/usb device through Wii backup manager. Nobody ever says how important it it is to do so. It’ll actually make a folder and everything properly so you don’t have to make folders and name anything specifically. Just spreading this so it’s more common knowledge for anyone stuck why games keeps crashing.
yep, I personally have a 32gb sd card I use but wii backup manager is great at splitting larger games into two and auto naming the files as they need to be.
took me a while to figure this out because my wii backup manager was not working. But I ended up learning you need files in wbsf format not iso. I think that was my issue

Just a note for everyone, i believe usbloader GX only accepts up to 2 or 3 TB drives, and no, I don’t think you can just get a 4 terabyte drive and partition it in half
So I followed the video up until 5:55 and the Wii refuses to read my external hard drive no matter what slot it’s plugged into, I know it’s powering up because the lights come on and I hear the slight whir of the internals. Does anyone know what I did wrong??
A group recommended I get a "Cable Matters Micro USB 3.0 to USB Splitter Cable (USB Y-Cable, USB Y Cable) 20 Inches" on Amazon so more power is running to the HDD but haven't tried it yet myself.
Thank you so much for the video,i spent a long time trying to Mod my Wii using various ways, and was about to give up untill i saw this guide...easy to understand and worked first time. Thanks for spending the time uploading 👍💯
But how do you get access to games which you don’t already own like roms on modded ds because every Tutorial already includes having the disc game and they you don’t need the disc anymore but you already own it but I would like to play games which I don’t own
I did that with my Nintendo Wii but I saw another tutorial on how to do it. One thing however was that I couldn't get any of my games detected even with the GC and Wii checkboxes checked. I don't know what I did but then they were detected. Then I couldn't run them. Turns out I didn't have USB Loader GX set to Nintendont on the settings menu. I installed Super Mario Sunshine then my copy of Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. I also have Super Mario Galaxy and that game was amazing.
I learned a lot from your videos. Since then i soft Modded my Wi and upgraded my PS4 Pro storage to SSD from your videos. This one is next plus hacking the mini consoles.
Anyone having issues with hdd not being recognised i have a fix its a bit longer but 1-turn on console hdd not plugged in 2- click homebrew and then usb loader 3-Wait till is says cant find hdd and starts counting from 20 and straight away when you see it say 20 plug in hdd This should then detect your hdd and load it unfortunately you will have to do this anytime you change game or turn on the console but works for me
Either the wii is damaged or the drive is bad. Try running the games off of a sd card or flash drive and see if you get better results. If not its the wii.
What "converter" are you talking about? If you mean the gamecube adaptor for the wii u/switch yes it will work. Only with gamecube games( via Nintendont) otherwise you can use the adaptor that plugs into a wiimote and use your gamecube controller that way but its reads it as a pro controller not a gamecube controller.
Does this external hard drive you recommend need to have some sort of separate y connector for a separate power source? I was led to believe you had to have one as the WIIU did not have sufficient power to power the console and drive. Or is this different now and you just plug in the drive with the one cable.
Unplug your HDD, then plug it back in while the Wii is on. I had to unplug, then re plug mine in to the *bottom* usb port while usb loader was “searching” for my HDD.
I have tried a PNY 480 Mb drive SSD(exFat by default) and Toshiba 1Tb, reformatted both to exFat. But, in settings, Wii shows both as NTFS. (no space available) I have double and triple checked both. Maybe I'll try another drive in the morning. edit: It looks like there is no need to format to exFat. I changed the drive back to NTFS and now the Wii recognizes it.
Interesting. So when using RGB, that's through component? I wonder if it's a sync issue caused from the regions of the game titles themselves. Like a PAL version being 50fps and an NTSC one being 60fps. Maybe try using one or the other when hooked up through RGB /component (the different regions of the same title) to see what outcomes you get.
My usb hdd has wii games on it and plays fine in usb loader gx but I want to add GameCube games to it but pc doesn’t recognize the usb hdd. Can the wii run usb hdd from port 0 and port 1 ? Or how do I get my pc to recognize the usb hdd?
