There's a spot on the river a couple miles upstream from my ramp where they built a new bridge and blew the old 1 so it fell and cut in half at the same time (it was 1 of those bridges with the tall steel sides they used 2 cranes to drag each half up the bank to be cut up for scrap and the concrete used as rip rap on the bank to stop erosion but there's still chunks of concrete (mainly where they blew it in half right in the middle of the channel) that when the water's low will catch a prop if you don't raise your engine against currant I lift clear out and float past going with currant

I've lived around here since before there was a lake. When they decided to put in the bridges for the lake, they had roads running parallel to the new bridge, so people could still get around, while they were being built. there is a big big tree still hangin in there not too far out from the main marina on the west side. it showed up during the 2011 drought, after the lake was 5 or 6 feet low, maybe 7. i put a orange life jacket on it. tarrant cant act for legal reasons, meaning if they tag one, and miss one then liability is at stake. so they have a no interference doctrine. its a water res for distribution anyway, not made for leisure, so just be careful with this privilege we get to use it.
We miss my cousin greatly, but our family lives happily in the memories that we have with him. We honor him and so many others, not just today, but each day. We are in no way disrespecting his memory. He died serving his country, doing something he was passionate about and for that we are eternally grateful. So, for us, “Happy Memorial Day” isn’t a 3-day, bbq-ing weekend. It’s a reminder to be happy that we had our time with him.
How is it disrespectful so I can tell my brothers (a Marine and an Army vets) who call their lost friends family every year to tell them happy memorial day keep the happiest times you had with him in your heart and wish the same for the others families they enjoy the call a few now have kids who never met their dad and love hearing about who he was great and goofy stuff he did and can't wait till they're older to hear about stuff they did and luckily didn't get caught there's no drinking or BBQing happening is that the disrespectful part or are you so miserable you have to be offended by something and since you're offended everyone but you has to change if so look in the mirror see the common denominator and love yourself so others can stop walking on eggshells to show how much they love you
Oopps almost forgot with all due respect (funny as soon as I see or hear someone say that I realize there's never any respect shown) hope you had a happy memorial day

@@ChaosDivers MY STEP DAD WAS LIKE THAT TOO HE TOOK ME TO HUNTERS SAFETY CLASSES AS SOON AS I WAS OLD ENOUGH TO PHEASANT HUNT WITH HIM!! IMAGINE TAKING YOUR DAUGHTER TO THOSE!! THAT WAS IN THE 70S WHEN I LIVED IN MICHIGAN!! GREAT MEMORIES 👍 ((( HUGS FROM TN )))
Be careful
I anchor off over that old bridge in the early spring and catch tons of crappie when they are spawning. Most people that have fished this lake much at all know that it is down there down. That was the old creek bridge from before the lake was dammed up back in the 60s.
My brothers ashes are in gunbarrel city in the lake behind the old Flanagan house
❤you guys are hilarious try to keep up as much as I can with you too had a couple deaths of my family so I haven't been able to be on as much as I wanted to but getting it behind me won't be easy but I'll get there just wanted to touchbase let you know I was still keep an eye on you all watching you supporting you keep up the good work
So sorry for your loss
My friend is there visiting her parents
We refer to those people who may not know what they're doing regarding the boating right-of-way, rules, etc. as "Checkbook Captains". They have the money in the checkbook to buy the boat but they may not have the skills or knowledge of boating rules. Be safe and take care!
Dang I been there before.
Drinking and boating is why I fish from the bank on holiday weekends just driving to town Friday picking up and yesterday taking my grandson home (of course he wants to ride in grandpa's cool truck my 67 C20) there was too many idiots on the highway in a hurry to be remembered passing on a hill with a curve 1 passed on the right because I don't get my baby over 55 alot of people must've liked my truck they kept telling me I was number 1
Where is it exactly? Going out there this weekend and unfamiliar with the lake. I see 3 bridges on Navionics.
It’s about 100 yards SW of the boat ramp on E Cedar Creek Parkway / 334 & Big Chief Drive
@@ChaosDivers thank you!
Good ol’ Speeder Creek
I'd check alot around the bar people may not report a vehicle in the water if it risks a DUI (edit) so did I hear right a bar by 1 ramp a liquor store at the other
There are several within 5-10 minutes
@@ChaosDivers that's too much alcohol that close to a lake that's asking for trouble the beureu of ATF needs to consider those kind of things before passing out so many liquor licenses
People get out in boats and in the water and sudden become stupid. Invincible. That’s what gets people hurt bad.
Gun barrel city Texas??

It could've been a metal cable. That would tear things up. An old road. So this is a man made lake.
It is man made
Most public lakes are man made all I've been to anyway the Army Corps of engineers was good at moving towns to plug the rivers my grandpa worked for a company subcontracted to work on the Tuttle Creek dam in Manhattan KS and was given a 1941 Farmall M (a nice tractor back then) because it slid into the river and took several days to retrieve they were going to junk it so my grandpa took it home drained everything let it sit open a couple days filled all the fluids and went farming with it the engine got rebuilt in 1990 and it's still gardening and planting foodplots for wildlife and a clover alfalfa mix for the honeybees along with odd jobs and hayrack rides when we rebuild it we leave it OD green camo since it came from the factory painted for the military not the red farmers got it was in today's parade following the colorgaurd pulling a trailer with a special flag designed fabricated built and painted by a vet in my shop and taken to a friend's to have every vet's name that's been lost from that county laser engraved on the stripes it was an honor to have him ask me to do it he was shocked I handed him a shop key and said have at it whatever you need is yours he saw grandpa's tractor and said that has to pull it how could I say no to him not only is he older than me he outranks me
All lakes in Texas are man made
Anyone ever get sea sickness? From all the bouncing!
We never have
Needs to be marked with a floating marker

there is a big big tree still hangin in there not too far out from the main marina on the west side. it showed up during the 2011 drought, after the lake was 5 or 6 feet low, maybe 7. i put a orange life jacket on it. tarrant cant act for legal reasons, meaning if they tag one, and miss one then liability is at stake. so they have a no interference doctrine. its a water res for distribution anyway, not made for leisure, so just be careful with this privilege we get to use it.
I know better to use either of those ramps. The lake is shallow in many places.
With all due respect, "Happy Memorial Day" is disrespectful to those who this day honors.
How is it disrespectful so I can tell my brothers (a Marine and an Army vets) who call their lost friends family every year to tell them happy memorial day keep the happiest times you had with him in your heart and wish the same for the others families they enjoy the call a few now have kids who never met their dad and love hearing about who he was great and goofy stuff he did and can't wait till they're older to hear about stuff they did and luckily didn't get caught there's no drinking or BBQing happening is that the disrespectful part or are you so miserable you have to be offended by something and since you're offended everyone but you has to change if so look in the mirror see the common denominator and love yourself so others can stop walking on eggshells to show how much they love you
Oopps almost forgot with all due respect (funny as soon as I see or hear someone say that I realize there's never any respect shown) hope you had a happy memorial day
Wipe those fingerprints off the sonar screen. 😂
