My MET GALA Dress was CURSED!

- I may not have been invited to the ball but that isn't going to stop me dressing up for it! The Met Gala has such an amazing theme this year that I HAD to make something for it. My design has many historical influences from Edwardian Era fashion, in both the silhouette and embellishments, including my first attempt at ribbon embroidery.
This has been a dream project for me, even if it turned out to be slightly cursed with how much went wrong throughout the make!

Omg you legend doing the ribbon embroidery in normal ribbon and off a slate frame 🙌🙌🙌🙌 we use silk ribbon to do it with as it goes through much easier but costs a fortune. Beautiful work, you have a new fan! ❤

Yea I was definitely on a budget, but I really enjoyed it and want to have a go at some more complicated designs next time (maybe down the line I’ll invest in some silk to make life easier though). Thanks again 🖤

I'm trying to limit my time watching videos to a few a week and I'm soo glad I got to watch yours on my break day!! It is really inspiring to watch you make something so beautiful, and I actually find it very encouraging that it wasn't all smooth sailing but you still came out with something so lovely (Helps me feel better when I sew my own projects upside-down 😅) You should feel really proud 😁 God bless

the cutouts and embroidery look really beautiful!!! when you first said you were doing them i thought um what but they came out so good! also the moths are adorable, i love them. the dress looks wonderful!

Not yet but I did buy some fabric for her about 8 months ago, haven’t got a design yet but I knew the fabric was perfect so I had to get it 😄 Also I would HAVE to plan a trip up to Scotland to shoot that too 🖤

When you collapsed on the bed I was sure you were going to fall on your scissors. You look exhausted. I know it’s a labour of love, but even those try your sanity. Just keep enough sanity not to impale yourself on your accoutrements .
I actually remember clocking they were there when I went down and made the exhausted choice of I’m wearing a thick jumper, I’m sure it’ll be fine 😂
I admire your patience 😊 if I was in your place I would cry , scream etc even knowing I put myself in the dilemma, or I would give up and go to bed feeling sorry of myself 😉😅
Haha thank you, but if I’m being honest I did all three of those things throughout this project 😂 is it a real hobby if it doesn’t make you suffer just a little?

Cursed it was, but the result looks amazing 🤩. The cutouts and the embroidery are a perfect match with the overall shape and fabrics. Definitely a project to be proud of! Going by your reference to the wigs, any change the next Disney princes is Rapunzel?

My corset is coming together! I finally just swallowed and cut out the coutil last night. Whew, that's what was really scaring me! Cutting into such expensive fabric....same for cutting the whalebone. But, all's well that ends well!
