I'm so happy I found this video even though it might be 2 years old. I am a first time mom as my baby is now 7 months and learning all these things about crawling is so interesting. I like how you did video demos instead of the baby just by themselves

Very helpful thank you. My baby sits and leans forward and gets stuck. Knowing to help her twist and side sit has helped the issue!

I have a little dude who is recently 9 months old. He is mostly sitting up on his own, he occasionally falls back. But he very rarely pushes up on his arms. He does army crawl and pivot around? Any tips?

Hi Abbie! Yay for army crawling and pivoting and sitting up! Pushing up on extended elbows is a huge skill that is needed to progress to hands and knees crawling which is his next milestone to master! I love the baby planks exercise you can find here: How To Help Strengthen Babies Arms With Baby Planks
      ua-cam.com/video/E6w7Nlvfm1U/v-deo.html
And I would also be curious about his ability to rotate at the upper trunk, so I would also try out this exercise: Learn How To Improve Trunk Control In Babies
      ua-cam.com/video/BDjX2-CTwkc/v-deo.html
You can also do supported all fours over a boppy or on an incline with shoulders above hips which will make it a bit easier to transition to all fours on the ground. Check out the link in the pinned comment if you have additional questions. Good luck! Lauren

Hi Dr Baker it’s hard to get my baby into all fours position…he keeps kicking his legs straight when I’m trying to get him into that position…what should I do ? Thanks!

Hello mrs. I want to ask about baby that had crawling but she can't sit, how to teach her from crawling to sit?

Hi! thank you so much for your comment. So most of the time babies go from crawling, to their belly, roll to their back and then get into sitting OR use this same style of movement in the video but backwards. If a baby is not able to sit independently at all yet, that is a different conversation so let me know if they are struggling with sitting by themselves. My understanding is that the question is about the transition from all fours to sitting!
Here is an exercise to work on going from back to sitting up, I like to do this as a "sit up" exercise up to x10-16 one after the other (sometimes with a break in the middle if they get fussy). ua-cam.com/video/riyQjiSjNfM/v-deo.htmlsi=skAZyClUienIk-ft
Here is an example of sitting --> all fours --> sitting: instagram.com/reel/CrRZfP-r5CZ/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA%3D%3D

My baby arms are not strong can you help me please???

      Hi Farizamzyene,
Thank you so much for the comment. Depending on a baby's age, the focus of building arm strength will be a little bit different. For babies who are crawling age, arm strength is based from time spent in tummy time and rolling belly to back and back to belly. If a baby struggled with tummy time, it is not uncommon for them to struggle putting weight through extended arms (this is more difficult than putting weight through their elbows/forearms only). My recommendation would be to go through the free online courses that I created, picking the one that fits your child's age best: www.drlaurenbaker.com/courses if you have continued questions after that you can schedule an online parent consultation at any time here: drlaurenbaker.clientsecure.me/request/service or reach out to a local pediatric PT if you have one in your area. The online course though will help you figure out which areas to focus on most and there is an arm strengthening section in each course :)

So my 9m old goes from sitting into all 4 but then drops down into an army craw with his belly off the ground. Is he just not strong enough to crawl normally yet?

Hi Zoe! Thank you for the comment. So it's totally possible, since 9 months is on the early end of crawling, he still has some time (9-11 months) and the fact that he is transitioning into sitting is awesome! There are likely some fun proactive play strategies that you can do to help him along & also connect with him at the same time, because often these exercises can be made to be fun/good mom/baby time with silly noises and cuddles in between. Check out my free online learning to crawl course linked here: drlaurenbaker.com/courses and I bet your babe is crawling in no time!
Good luck and hope this helps! Lauren

So he did learn to crawl about a week after this! I did something I haven’t seen in your videos. We used a small soft blanket to lift him on all four and walked beside him. After about a week of this he started crawling. I had tried a few of the other exercises you showed along with it. Balancing him from the blanket just seemed very intuitive for me like I knew he just needed to understand the motion and I was having trouble with your other video on supporting is torso with my hands because he was so fast! lol he’s standing from a squat now! So glad he’s crawling though! Thank you!😊

YAYYYY! So glad to hear this zoe! Yes, the blanket exercise can absolutely be helpful - some babies love it and some dont but the only reason why there isnt a video on it yet is because there are still 50+ videos I have to edit and post 😂 so maybe one day that video will exist here, too. Sooo glad you kept searching since there are tons of resources out there and I definitely am not the only one ❤️
