I had to come back to this video to comment. After trying these techniques for a week, my 11 month old girl went from not moving at all to crawling and sitting by herself! I can't believe the change was so quick! I was worried she was going to reach her first birthday without so much as rolling. I had always just put her into sitting because she's a reflux baby, and it's the position she's most comfortable in. I asked her Dr. for help, but he said all babies develop at different rates, but I could tell she was just stuck. Her playmates were all running rings around her, and I felt bad she couldn't join in. But now she's completely mobile, and loving it! Thank you so much for this video! ❤❤❤❤
Hi @Orilia thanks so much for coming back and leaving a comment. It is so nice to know that this video helped. I am sure your little one is loving being on the move and exploring! Happy chasing❤️
Pediatricians these days are useless. They Only do moderate physicals and push vaccination and name brands (Gerber, Tylenol, Enfamil, whoever they're being subsidized by) Finding other women who have been through real life and working teach you a little something like this wonderful lady is key;)
Another great video Emma. My little one is 8months old and I definitely have got into a bad habit of just putting him straight into sitting. Both techniques worked really well immediately!
Literally just one day of doing this and he is getting himself into sitting on his own! No more crying turtle 🐢 on his back waiting for me to sit him up! Thanks Emma!!

First of all I love your videos they make things super easy I’ve had such great success watching these and I will admit I am a clueless first time parent and especially with Covid I have nobody to really come and show me how to do this but now I have a question if you can make a video on how to practice sitting or going into the sitting position while your baby is in a harness my baby can sit with some support in a harness but I try to do your tricks on him and it’s really really tricky because of the harness so I don’t know if you have some tips for that I do know that there are other parents who are having the same struggle as I am like my guy he tries to roll but because of the harness he can’t fully do it which I’m thinking is a roll he just flops to his one side and that’s as far as he gets. You are so awesome thank you so much
My baby was a year old and still not crawling. I watched this video, taught him to sit up on his own in a matter of a few days and from there he progressed so quickly that he is now crawling all over the place and bringing himself up to kneeling. It's been about 6 weeks and he is back on track. I definitely think he was "stuck sitting". THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! You also helped me get him to stop throwing his food on the floor!
Hi @katie Koslov that is amazing! Sounds like it was all you!!!! You are doing a great job and so nice to hear these videos are helping. It is so cool to hear when your little ones learn new skills.
This has already helped my baby so much! She’s 10 months old and was stuck in sitting. Since doing this I’ve seen MAJOR improvement! She’ll be crawling in no time. Thank you so much!
@@pageant_cultleader1914 yes she started a month after .. any Moms reading they need to know how to get in and out of sitting .. place on stomach instead of sitting .. have them play on their knees
Thank you so much for sharing this. How long were you doing this in a day? My baby is 9 months and 3 weeks. I started the 4 point kneeling position 3 days ago and he was getting into sitting position himself but today he’s not really responding 😭.
@@adebusolaadegbola don’t get discouraged. He will get it. They all have their good days and bad days. Once you see him frustrated just do something else and go back to it later. I practiced as often as possible bc my pediatrician gave her until 12 months to crawl before we intervened with a pediatric physical therapist. My daughter started crawling at 11 months she’s stronger and faster now at 13 months she’s still crawling & now she’s pulling up to stand, cruising and can stand for a second. My tips for crawling is getting on the ground with them and playing on their tummy. Placing toys or even your phone or empty water bottles to get them to reach it on their stomach. Moving the couch cushion and placing toys inside to get them in the high kneeling position and also kneeling in the vtech sit to stand learning walker and of course using this video to get them out of sitting. Baby Sparks has also been an excellent resource! You’ve got this Mama!
Those are some wonderful tips, I really appreciate that information. My son isn’t showing signs of crawling at all and he is 9 1/2 months old. I place him in a sitting position myself so I might give these tips a go to see what happens. I’m having trouble with him just recently rolling over to his tummy in his cot and getting stuck there with his arms on his sides rather than towards his head to till back. He likes to sleep on his tummy but gets stuck so we we are doing a lot of tummy time during awake times.
HI @FitAussieAngie I hope this helps! Tummy time during awake times is a great idea - will help to strengthen his arms and shoulders and legs which will help to ensure he can hold his body in 4 point kneeling which will get him closer to crawling. I also have some videos on how to help baby's learn to roll over which you might find helpful.
@@EmmaHubbard thank you snd yes I came across one of your videos yesterday, that’s how I found your channel. I think he lacks coordinations and seems to get confused when he’s in his cot. He is ok at rolling when on the floor, but still not great. Thank you for the tips.
We were convinced our 8 month old was going to skip crawling and go straight to walking as all he wanted to do was pull himself to stand, and when lying on his back would look like he was trying to do a sit up rather than rolling or pushing up from his side. After watching this video and trying some tips he was able to sit up by himself within a few days and was crawling within a few weeks!

At the 3:41 time on the video where the child needs to return from side sitting to be on all fours, it is more meaningful to their nervous system to think of moving their pelvis in a spiral type movement over the shin and knee that they are turning over, for them to feel the solidity of the ground on that leg that they are coming over, pulling them up from their arms or torso looks like the same action but if is not - it wont feel like a "sensible" option for them to float through the air to come from side sitting to all fours. They need to feel the solidity of the ground on the lower leg that they pivot over.
I was wondering why my 10 month old grandson isn't crawling yet or going in and out of sitting by himself yet. This makes sense. Have to practice these suggestions when I mind him.
How long is this supposed to take for baby to learn how to switch on their own? I know all babies are different, but can you please give an estimate timeline on average? And when to be worried. Thanks
Hi, hope your keeping well, our son is nine months tomorrow but isn't yet sitting up from laying, and not crawling yet, what else can I do to help him.
My newly 10 month old was totally stuck in sitting and even stopped bothering rolling or moving around at all….She was just used to me doing everything for her (totally me to blame here, hehe) I could tell she had so much energy she wanted to use though. Anyways, started doing these practices with her and and would never just put her down in sitting- in a couple of days I could see her being more mobile and after 1 week(!!) she’s crawling! Thanks so much for all your videos!
I taught my 8 month old baby how to get into a sitting position based on your crawling video from a few weeks ago. But now when I put her on her tummy she sits up right away and won't do tummy time anymore.
I m from Europe, here paediatricians and physical therapists are saying crawling first and sitting from crawling on all fours (the other way around can be bad for the posture and leads to spine issues afterwards ). I m always confused by the exact opposite info from US and now Australia. My daughter crawls, but doesn't sit yet.
What to do if baby can get from belly to sitting but isn’t trying to crawl? I put objects ahead to reach, will reach but will automatically come back to sit. Thanks :)
My son pulls himself up and gets stuck in standing, and ends up filling backwards. Can you make a video for that, to help him get back to sitting. Thank you!
Oh my gosh! I feel so bad and did not even realize I was only putting my son into the "sitting" position each time we set him down. He is 11 months and still not showingsigns of crawling and is very much stuck in this position. We will be working on teaching him this!!
How did it work for you? Did you get him crawling in a decent time frame? My son is also 11 months old and refuses to crawl or even allow me to put him into these positions
How do I get my baby comfortable on all fours? If I try prop him up he keeps stretching his legs out straight so he can roll onto his back side and tummy

Hello Emma my 8 month old baby lock her knees tightly so it is really difficult for her to do kneeling What should I do please suggest Waiting for your response Thank you
My daughter just commando crawling backwards from past 2 3 months and stuck in this. She can sit without support but she cant get in to crawl and out of that position. She hates being on tummy. She has used a lot of walker. How to help her.
Hello, Is belly-crawling normal? Because my baby does that and he is 9 months old or I must train him to use his knees?? And he does sit by himself but not all the time and he is slow.
Hi! Belly crawling is often something babies do before they start to crawl on their hands and knees, as it requires less arm and leg strength. I wouldn't be surprised if your little one starts to crawl on their hands and knees in a few months. Keep giving your little one time playing while lying on the floor to develop the arm and leg strength needed to crawl. Also keep giving your little one time practicing sitting. Hope that helps!
Hi Emma, my little girl has just turned nine months, she can get into and out of sitting (started about two weeks ago) can crawl on her knees if she holds my fingers but can’t crawl on her own yet, any tips? Thank you
Hi @Carly, sounds like she is on her way to crawling just needs to get stronger in those arms. I would recommend continuing with tummy time as this will ensure her arms continue to get stronger which is required to crawl. This video also has tips on how to help your little one learn to crawl which you might find helpful ua-cam.com/video/aGIMVDOQL7c/v-deo.html
My seven month old daughter ( born late pre term ) can sit since month five and she can crawl backwards since a few weeks but she just won’t go forward.
Hi there! Thanks for the tips. My baby is 12 months old. She tends to get into sitting position using her left side only all the time. I try to make her learn to sit using the right side but she just rolls over. Is it too late for her to do so. Also she has been army crawling since she was 8 months but hasn’t progressed to all fours yet. She just doesn’t want to do it. She is now learning to walk independently. Is is bad if she skips actual crawling?
Hi there I'm going through this situation my baby 12 months old not sitting no crawling yet , hows your baby now.?? When she started sitting on her own?
My baby learned how to sit by himself but is just not trying to crawl only when there’s something reeealy interesting, he’s trying to reach it. I tried gym ball, pushing his legs underneath him, we do swimming, taking him to see other kids…nothing is working 😢
As far as the 4 point kneeling one goes, my 8 month old son doesn't like it when I grab his hips/thighs, he'll freak out or is quite stubborn and I literally cannot help him up onto his knees. And I'm not sure how to pull him back correctly, I wish I had someone in front of me to show me. He can get up into 4 point kneeling independently, he just doesn't do it often lol He's always been the kinda baby to test things out many times before actually doing the skill. And then he'll only do the skill for a short period of time, and move onto something else.
My 8 months old baby hates tummy time. When I put him doing tummy time, he cries. I tried different positions, I even put him on my chest, but he kept crying.
Thank you Emma for the tips. I have tried on my 6 1/2 months old baby as I felt he doesn’t know to crawl. After he knows how to sit up, he likes to stand up with our support, now he can lean on us and stand for about 1-2 mins, is it necessary to follow the steps sit-crawl-walk? And if he stands before crawling, will it has any impact on his development?
Teaching my son these positions for 1.5 m now. He is turning 13 months soon and still stuck in sitting and in frustrated crawling position for 3 months
I guess my baby is one in a million. She crawled before sitting up independently. She tried so hard to sit up up from around 4.5 months until she finally did it a few days before her 8th month birthday.
She's definitely not one in a million but she's just in the regular pattern. I personaly do not understand the point of this video. If you're letting your child develop by themselves their gross motor by lying on the ground they do not get stuck sitting and you don't need to teach them to get in and out of the position. Most babies who develop naturally (if you follow the RIE method) will start to scoot or crawl before (or at the same time) learning how to sit. You're doing great with her ;)
My baby will be 9 month old be we are concerned about her milestone she can sit but sometime she just fall and also she can’t crawl yet not even she can stand , whenever she get excited she starts to shake her head ! Is it normal ?
Hi Zinia! It's great that your little one is able to sit. At 9 months it is not unusual that a bub isn't yet crawling. Crawling is a skill bubs generally learn anywhere from 8 - 13 months. Also shaking her head when excited could be normal behaviour. As I can't see your little one in person, it's always best to check in with a doctor if you are concerned. Wishing you all the best!
@esther Joseph 3 months is an exciting time. They are just starting to explore with their hands (lots of mouthing) and you have past the worst of the witching hour/period of purple crying. Have fun playing together!
My baby sits well. And rolls from back to front, front to back well also. And he’ll even put himself in the crawl position. How do I get him from the crawling position and will rock back and forth.. what can I do to actually get him to move a little to crawl?
Rocking back and forth from the crawling is the beginning of crawling. No need to intervene by doing this movement he will quickly move slightly ahead and then start to crawl.
My baby is 10 monrhs and did not starting crawling yet even if i try to move gim he he is starting crying 😭 and this bothered me. A lot plz somebody help me what to do with my baby
My baby can get into and out of sitting independently. Still not proper crawling. When I place a toy in front of her, she commando crawls or rolls on her tummy to go get it
@@EmmaHubbard really makes me feel better hearing this. She will be 8 months in a few days and it has me worried that she’s not crawling yet. Been following lots of your tips- tummy time, placing her on all fours. Hopefully soon
I didn't help my baby to sit up on his own🥺😥 and she always fall down on her back head😢,,, she fall back and when she is walking 😭.! Now she is sitting always W,,,,, I am a bad mother 😣
Hi! At this age not all babies can sit and crawl. I would try not to worry as sitting is a skill bubs can learn to master from 6 - 9 months and crawling is a skill bubs generally learn sometime between 8-13 months.
My baby is 7 months today and he can only sit up for only 1 minute and is certainly no where what crawling I’m sobbing as I see most 7 months old can crawl 😭😭😭

My daughter just commando crawling backwards from past 2 3 months and stuck in this. She can sit without support but she cant get in to crawl and out of that position. She hates being on tummy. She has used a lot of walker. How to help her.
Hello,
Is belly-crawling normal? Because my baby does that and he is 9 months old or I must train him to use his knees?? And he does sit by himself but not all the time and he is slow.
Hi! Belly crawling is often something babies do before they start to crawl on their hands and knees, as it requires less arm and leg strength. I wouldn't be surprised if your little one starts to crawl on their hands and knees in a few months. Keep giving your little one time playing while lying on the floor to develop the arm and leg strength needed to crawl. Also keep giving your little one time practicing sitting. Hope that helps!
@@EmmaHubbard Okay, thank you so much.😊
You are the best 💯
My five month old is sitting up , all credits to you Emma
Hie dear I have same issue with my baby.. Is your baby crawl and walk now plz tell
@@ridhavsvlog4779 she did not crawl. But started walking when she turned one year old.
Hi there
I'm going through this situation my baby 12 months old not sitting no crawling yet , hows your baby now.?? When she started sitting on her own?
My baby learned how to sit by himself but is just not trying to crawl only when there’s something reeealy interesting, he’s trying to reach it. I tried gym ball, pushing his legs underneath him, we do swimming, taking him to see other kids…nothing is working 😢
This worked for my 7 mo. Within 2 weeks he started crawling.
So helpful video👍
Glad it was helpful!
Emma I can't get the milestones chart, I've been trying multiple times and I don't receive any email....help please
Sometimes it gets sent to junk/spam - might be worth checking your spam/junk mail. Let me know if it isn't there
Thank you Emma for the tips.
Same here 🤔
I’ve heard some children skip crawling alltogether
Teaching my son these positions for 1.5 m now. He is turning 13 months soon and still stuck in sitting and in frustrated crawling position for 3 months
Hey did he start crawling , by when , what helped pls share
We r doing this. Tomorrow 🔥💪🏻
Hope it helps!
You're doing great with her ;)
@@flaviedelpuech7267 this is why I was so happy to get 7 months off work. Most helpers keep babies sitting all day. 😭😭.
@@Limitlesskkz2022oh that’s so sad…😞 where do you live? In the US?
Wow my baby is 3 months today
@esther Joseph 3 months is an exciting time. They are just starting to explore with their hands (lots of mouthing) and you have past the worst of the witching hour/period of purple crying. Have fun playing together!
My baby girl is 6th month old she is roll over at her 4th month but now also she quickly cry after rolling and she doesn't try to crawl

Hi madam Emma.....please have you done a potty training video.....kindly Show the link.....my baby is 8months + and still struggling to sit on a potty
@@flaviedelpuech7267 we’re good over here. Thanks.
@@Awf.lately I guessed you were but I was answering for others parents who might read this comment and facing the same issue 😊
@@Joyceeee_94 at the time yep (a year ago) but we figured it out. Now on our second (4 months pp)
My nine months old cant sit fully by himself pls help me
My baby is 10 monrhs and did not starting crawling yet even if i try to move gim he he is starting crying 😭 and this bothered me. A lot plz somebody help me what to do with my baby
My baby can get into and out of sitting independently. Still not proper crawling. When I place a toy in front of her, she commando crawls or rolls on her tummy to go get it
Sounds like your little one is working up the strength to crawl. It's great she can get into and out of sitting. With time she will master crawling.
@@EmmaHubbard really makes me feel better hearing this. She will be 8 months in a few days and it has me worried that she’s not crawling yet. Been following lots of your tips- tummy time, placing her on all fours. Hopefully soon
Start at 1:40 for instructions how.
What can i do if my baby always cries all she can, when i ever try to teach her anything?
My baby is the same how did you overcome this
My baby likes sitting more than being on her tummy. So we make her sit often. Is it fine to make her sit? She's yet to creep and crawl.
Thanks a lot for making such useful videos
Is it normal that he can crawl and stand on his own. But still don't know how to sit
I didn't help my baby to sit up on his own🥺😥 and she always fall down on her back head😢,,, she fall back and when she is walking 😭.! Now she is sitting always W,,,,, I am a bad mother 😣
What happens when baby wants to move so bad they inchworm crawl before this?
My baby is 6 month old she is not yet crawling ad sitting up by her own
Hi! At this age not all babies can sit and crawl. I would try not to worry as sitting is a skill bubs can learn to master from 6 - 9 months and crawling is a skill bubs generally learn sometime between 8-13 months.
our daughter is 9 month old and still she stuck in sitting, i hope this help her because her mother is so upset.
I hope so too!
My son refuses to go into the 4 point position. He cries like it hurts and pushes his legs back. He’s almost 9 months old and I’m kind of worried.
Same can he crawl now or still no?
@@Aisha0138 no, he’s almost 10 months. He army crawls only bit is trying to stand
My baby is 7 months today and he can only sit up for only 1 minute and is certainly no where what crawling I’m sobbing as I see most 7 months old can crawl 😭😭😭
Its ok my baby waa 7 momth old when she first sat on her own for 30 sec by 8 months she can sit on her own she's gonna be 9 months next week still can't crawl but i'm trying my best don't lose hope
My baby skip crawling and straight to walking 🤦♀️
My sons 11 months old and stuck in sitting, not making any effort whatsoever 😩😩
Hi did your son progress, my daughter is currently in this scenario?
@@andrewgown6133 Hey! Yes he actually walked first! Started off as holding an adults hand.. then gradually got more confident to walk from person to person then on his own! He then crawled after that 😂
More video of person interacting with the baby of less of video of you just speaking to the camera
My baby crawl first before she learn to sit
I'm gonna try this with my 8 month old baby. We used to bring her straight to sitting and now she's stuck in there.
This should definitely help her learn how to get into and out of sitting independently and start moving!
Thank you so much Emma👍
@sneha v hope it helps!
