I personally think the best way to do it is to use Color Management (or Color Space Transform nodes) in Davinci Resolve, guaranteed to start with a mathematically accurate image, can convert it into a working color profile like ACEScct or Davinci Wide Gamut, it's basically automatic, so it takes no time at all. Much better than using LUT's because there is no interpolation, and you can make decisions on tone and gamut mapping. You can then match different cameras really well, apply creative looks on top of a trustworthy image, and apply a more professional workflow to it (if you use it on a job or something).
After checking Phantom LUT's explanation about the LUT provided by Apple, I have to agree that the colour shifted, mostly blue and brown. I ended up using Leeming LUT.
this phone is insane! 🔥iPhone 15 Pro Max probably the best and the most powerful smartphone this year! Apple always did a very good job. that pushed me and my friends switching from Android to iOS
Unfortunately, the free version of Davinci Resolve does not appear to edit 10 bit H.265 videos, at least not in Windows, and it imports the audio only in my experience. You can save the H.265 file to Photos and edit it on the iphone 15 pro however.@@NOlimitsON 10 bit

Hey man this is the best tutorial so far on shooting log with the new iphone 15 thanks so much for making this, I have one question, the apple conversion lut you have in the download, is that the official one from Apple they released, I saw it somewhere on the developer page but cant find it anywhere anymore or is that one you made?
So i dont need to shoot ProRes with external SSD all the time to get the LOG quality? I mean, i want better dynamic range, less digital sharpening and possibility to color grade fast for instagram and youtube.
Hello sir, Thank you very much for this great tutorial. I am learning how to use log recently with my iphone 15 pro max, and I love it. I am using it to make films. And by the way, I think that the built-in cinematic mode creates a much more realistic "cinematic feel" and I think it's because it can blur the backgrounds to focus on the subjects. I don't think there is a way to do this in prores (I don't think it's the point by the way). I was wondering if you had any idea how to reproduce that "background blurring" effect with final cut pro and have it look as good as the built-in cinematic mode ? Thank you very much and good look on your channel ! Cheers
I really like on phone color grading is there other apps can use in conjunction with photos app to give your footage more color grade options I think photos app way is easy and quick I think davinci resolve etc more time consuming more challenging to do

I filmed with the BMC app and the final cut cam and in the post pro using Resolve I found that Final cut cam footage is better and have more cinematic look !?
A really nice video, well explained....but when I change the settings of the iPhone itself, the blocking and the colors and all that...does it lower the quality of the picture?....because I have a OnePlus and when I change the settings, it lowers it significantly The quality of the image...if I had 6000X8000 then it drops it to...3072X4096 more or less...I'm glad for the answer and thank you very much.🙏
This and your other video on why you don’t take cameras with weee both brilliant. You’ve converted me, and I have a Sony A1. The only issue I do have is I shoot in Apple LOG and keep a HDR workflow and I’ve never found a LUT to convert to HLG to Upload to the black camera app. Any suggestions?
One of the best post (this one and the previous) regarding the LOG in the Iphone! Question: You mentioned the Iphone can shoot H-265 and Log at the same time...? is that correct...? Also: is there a dehancer for Iphone & Ipad...? if so: does it have the same features and assume is a bit cheaper ? or same price? Thanks! cheers!

you can record in ProRes 30fps on any iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max, there is only one restriction in the native app, which is to record 60fps, you have to use an external ssd, that is the only limitation. BM Camera has no restrictions whatsoever. You never need an external SSD to record ProRes
