    Here is a link to the summary sheet of what APA considers the significant changes dsm.psychiatryonline.org/pb-assets/dsm/update/DSM5Update2016.pdf
    Here is a link to look up current ICD 10 codes www.icd10data.com/ or here icd.who.int/browse10/2019/en Many of the ICD-10 codes changed from the DSM 5 to DSM 5-TR
    There are many more changes in the supporting text for each diagnosis, but for many of the disorders, the diagnostic criteria remains unchanged. I will be going over each group of disorders in the coming weeks and letting you know about changes I find in the prevalence, risk, suicide, culture and gender, differential dx, functional consequences and comorbidity sections as well as UP to DATE research about these things.

    Ma'am! Please kindly explain the difference between OCD in DSM-5 and DSM-5 TR.

    • @DocSnipes
      @DocSnipes  5 місяців тому

      Differences between OCD in DSM-5 and DSM-5 TR:
      * Diagnostic Criteria: The core diagnostic criteria for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) have remained largely consistent between the DSM-5 and the DSM-5-TR. Both editions require the presence of obsessions, compulsions, or both, and these symptoms must be time-consuming (taking more than one hour per day) or cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning.
      * Prevalence Rates: The DSM-5-TR may include updated prevalence rates based on the latest research. For example, it was noted that the prevalence of OCD symptoms related to contamination and illness increased during certain periods, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, but this was not necessarily reflected in other types of obsessions and compulsions.
      * Comorbidity and Differential Diagnosis: The DSM-5-TR may provide more detailed guidance on comorbidity and differential diagnosis, helping clinicians distinguish OCD from other disorders with overlapping symptoms, such as autism spectrum disorder, PTSD, and illness anxiety disorder.
      * Specifiers and Subtypes: The DSM-5-TR may introduce or clarify specifiers and subtypes for OCD, which can help in tailoring treatment to the individual's specific symptoms and needs.
      * Cultural Considerations: The DSM-5-TR may include additional cultural considerations to ensure that OCD is diagnosed appropriately across diverse populations, taking into account cultural variations in the expression of symptoms.
      * Associated Features: The DSM-5-TR may expand on the associated features of OCD, including a broader range of related behaviors and potential impacts on the individual's life.
      It's important to note that while there may be updates and clarifications in the DSM-5-TR, the fundamental nature of OCD as a disorder remains consistent with the description provided in the DSM-5. The DSM-5-TR serves to refine and enhance the understanding of the disorder based on new research and clinical experience.

    I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling student, I am graduating from my CACREP program in the spring of 2023 and studying for the CPCE and NCMHCE as I am in VA. So I'm stressing out because now I feel like I have to get a whole new DSM-5-TR because my program used just the regular DSM-5 during the diagnostic section of my program. Not only has the NCMHCE been updated so I have to study for a different exam than everyone before me but now I have to stress about new information in the DSM-5-TR that may be on the exam? I guess I need to purchase this new revision and study this whole book over again?
