    Thank you for this video. It really helped me immensely. I have been so stressed lately caring for a sick parent and trying to decide what to do. I've had so much anxiety and brain fog that I've been word searching in many of my conversations. I was very worried I had dementia. I'm a relieved that it's possible my brain is on overload suffering from anxiety , depression and stress and not aphasia dementia. Thank you again.
    So sorry to hear you had Covid 19. -

      I am so sorry to hear about your parent. Not only is caregiving exhausting, but the stress (and often guilt) about what to do can be overwhelming. Wishing you peace, health and clarity

    I took notes on your destress techniques. When my brain is trying to disengage, I was taught to change all five senses to help stay in the present.
    Great talk. Love from NW Montana 💙

    Aphasia is a loss of language NOT intellect. I am a speech language pathologist and I worked for aphasia patients for many years it is almost always from a stroke or TBI. Cognition rarely comes into play unless someone has primary progressive aphasia which is very rare sometimes it’s hard to see the difference between Alzheimer’s and aphasia but they are separate diagnosis.

      I agree. I'm not a speech therapist or pathologist but I work with you guys in radiology for swallow studies. Seeing all the stroke and thrombus patients coming in since the covid vaccine rollout is unreal. I believe Bruce Willis probably had small stroke and now aphasia. Thank you Pfizer and Moderna.

    I did some research on this, as well, to try to figure out what was going on with me. The aphasia you describe is the severe version. I found another, called "non-fluent aphasia," that is less severe, essentially just the part about not being able to say a word or phrase that's on the tip of your tongue. Apparently this can come from childhood trauma and abuse, and last well into adulthood. It's not a "brain fart" or anything so minimal. And though it may not happen often, it can seriously impact interactions with others.

    • @wndybrd78
      @wndybrd78 2 роки тому +3

      Non-fluent aphasia is actually Broca’s aphasia where someone can only speak using one word at a time. It can sound like forceful telegraphic speech. It’s a motor problem. I think what you are talking about is dysfluency (think stuttering) or word-finding problems. It is so hard for the public to really grasp Aphasia because even doctors use it incorrectly. They often talk. About it like a symptom, but it’s it’s own disorder.

    Great! Socrates had bouts of aphasia (which is the actual word Plato used. Being Greek and all.) when he had divine visions. Teresa of Avila, Meister Eckhart, Rumi, etc also. The American Indians loved silence & some called God The Great Silence. (Charles Eastman, Soul of the Indian, available in digital library). When Thomas Aquinas had a direct vision of God, after decades of writing long boring treatises full of rules about "God," he said only that those past words were but "straw" & never said another thing. So, maybe sacred & holy awe is another "underlying cause" of silence.
