I must admit this demonstration was great it was clear and covered everything you need to know to use this product. No crazy background music and no stupid jokes .
That's great to hear Robert, glad you enjoyed.
Thank you for a very clear and helpful presentation. I plan to use this product tomorrow and am glad to have seen this demo.
Every expanding foam demo should come with a warning/explanation how to get it off hands etc.
Great stuff, the wee nozzle fits right up the wife’s nostrils… cured her snoring and I got a good night’s sleep 😴
Thank you guys🙌🏾
Great presentation, simple and straightforward
Thank you the video explains easily how to use :)
Great video. Thanks.
Great demo, thanks. Is the foam stable once dried, wondered if I could use it for sculpting something that’s going to have some weight on it,or will it crush very easily?
Amazing foam I love it
That's great, glad you loved our foam.
I need to fill a smallish hole where my flue fumes exit frim the roof. Will this be safe near a warm/hot flue pipe ?
As your product is meant to be used upside down, could you tell me the best way to fill floor gaps in our conservatory which is due for replacement in the new year. Thanks
Hi is this closed cell foam?
Once in place is it quite strong? I was thinking of filling in some loose mortar on the house brickwork with it rather than using mortar
If I fill gaps in my roof in the sun , and I paint it with impermeable paint, will it be ok?
do a demo of soudal putty . . that would be hilarious
So can I insulate a shed wall with this ?? 🤔
Theres a lot of info spray insulation foam. Can this cause mould?
Nice product
Is this product open cell or closed cell ??
Just tried using this.. It literally kept exploding out. Gone all over my brickwork. Don't know what I did wrong. Was extremely careful. Now I've cut the excess away there is air holes throughout it. Looks terrible
Can it be used to cover the under surface of a corugated asbestos cement roof ?
Yes, this product can be used on the underside of corrugated asbestos cement roof panels that are in perfect condition, as a thermal and acoustic insulating material. For more information about Genius Gun Gap Filling, please see our Technical Datasheet www.soudal.co.uk/sites/default/files/soudal_api/document/F0031402_0001.pdf
Hey, is this safe for interior use? E.g under a shower tray. Also, how much will it expand by?
Hello! Indeed Genius Gun Expanding Foam is suitable for internal use, just ensure that the area is well ventilated while using the product. We'd recommend filling 1/3 of the cavity and then allow for the foam to expand. @@SoudalUK Great video thankyou.
I have a couple of gaps to fill in my garage roof. The roof is imitation terracota panels . It says on data sweet not UV RESISTANT.
if I paint it with impermeable paint, will that be ok?
I like the low expansion blue foam for around windows, but can't seem to get it now - has it been discontinued?
Hello there, our low expansion genius gun foam is currently available from Screwfix and B&Q Trade Point. We do also have a number of low expansion foams in both our Professional and Trade range. If you would like to find your nearest stock of a particular product, you can always contact our customer service team via: 01827 261 092
@@SoudalUKif the blue stuff is "low expansion", why does it say the *exact same thing* as the red can next to it, word for word, bar the reduced curing time? 35 minutes versus 90.
That's none too bright.
it says it expands to 30x yet the hole around the pipe was half filled 50% and still didnt expand our of the hole. I'm trying to work ut how many cans I need and what the exact expanded volume is per 750ml can..
Yeah i think the x30 is misleading. I think, it's compared to the volume of the can so 750ml x30 would give you a volume of 22.5 l - remember there's 1000 l in 1 cubic metre so not actually that much volume in one can.
So, if it "adheres to all common building materials", how come the demonstrator simply lifts out the strip of set foam, trims it and then puts it back?
In the video, the foam adheres to the white cardboard strip that is being held between the two wooden panels. This is why James can remove the foam and place it back in with such ease. We hope this clarifies the video.
@@SoudalUK Ah - that makes sense now. I have now purchased and used your expanding form for the first time. Very impressed with the product. Was expecting a strong odour, but there wasn't one. Thanks
just bought one, looks great, fantastic design unfortunately it hardly expands at all, very disappointed
Thanks great video. Is this product OK to use with wirewool to keep out rats.
Hello, although this expanding foam is not specifically designed for rodent control, generally speaking, combining foam and tightly packed steel wool or chicken wire will make it much more difficult for rodents to penetrate - mice cannot chew through the steel, and the expanding foam provides good acoustic/thermal insulation values within the gap.
@@SoudalUK Thanks
Hi I am about to purchase this product and just need to know if its waterproof ? And is a Closed Cell Foam ?
Hello, the foam is highly water-resistant once a skin has formed, but should not be subject to continuous immersion in water. It is not classified as closed cell foam. If you would like to speak to a member of our technical team and discuss a specific application, please feel free to call 01827 261 092
Can I put caulk over the Soudal expanding foam? Thanks for your help.
Yes, you can. The decorator's caulk is compatible with the expanding foam. If you plan to paint over the caulk, ensure you use a filler that is sufficiently paintable.
@@SoudalUK Great, thanks for getting back to me. That's useful to know when using the foam around window frames where the gap isn't too wide... just caulk over the foam to save painting it, and let the caulk protect the foam from UV.
Hi, after trimming the foam back, is it still waterproof or will it absorb water once outer skin is cut? Many thanks
Hello! Generally expanding foam is not considered 'waterproof' unless you use a completely closed cell foam. While offering some resistance to water (better with the skin), it's recommended that for exterior use the surface of the foam is covered over with paint or filler; this also protects from UV, which is very important when using any expanding foam outdoors. If you would like to discuss a specific application, you are always welcome to contact our technical line: 01827 261 092 (Open 9am - 5pm).
@@SoudalUK thank you. Do soudal do a closed cell version?
@@Itsmeagain.8 Sorry, I'm afraid we do not have a closed cell foam in our UK range at the moment.
How do you remove soudal gap filler when it isdry
The best way to remove the foam when fully cured is to rub the surface with a material such as sandpaper or a pumice stone if the foam has dried on the skin. You can also use Soudal PU Foam Remover to soften the surface (we do not advise using this on the skin), we recommend you do a compatibility test with the surface to ensure the remover does not stain.
Can you use it on plastic over fiberglas
Yes, it can be used on plastic over fibreglass, take care if the product is split. Here is a link to see the latest Technical Data Sheet with application instructions: www.soudal.co.uk/sites/default/files/soudal_api/document/F0030949_0001.pdf
Can I fix doors whit this ?
For thermal and acoustic insulation around door and window frames, we would recommend using our low expansion Genius Gun Insulation Foam. This foam has very good linear yield (i.e. more meters) and offers high flexibility for vibration resistance in areas with repetitive movement: www.soudal.co.uk/diy/products/expanding-foam/insulation-foams/insulating-foam-genius
Pls what is the solvent for this foam
Our Genius Gun Gap Filler contains HCFC- and CFC-free propellants, which are not harmful for the ozone layer. If you need any further information relating to the safety data of our products, please contact our UK office via the Soudal website and our team will be more than happy to assist you: www.soudal.co.uk/pro/service-and-contact
Is this ok to use around cables ??
As long as the cables are covered with PVC coating and not exposed, Genius Gun Gap Filling Foam is safe to use
Fine to use around copper pipes? (Hot)
Yes, the product is okay with copper pipes and temperatures of up to 120 °C once fully cured. We recommend the pipe is sleeved to allow the pipe to move due to thermal expansion. So I bought this and it hasn't expanded it rubbish it fell of the walk that was sprayed and stuck to the floor aswell don't believe this video .
Hello, sorry to hear your experience - it would be useful to know a little more about the type of application the product has been used (i.e. used inside a cavity or on a vertical/overhead surface). For recommendations on the best product for your application, please feel free to contact our technical line: 01827 261 092 or email through to salesuk@soudal.com
Very sneaky way to steal from the people another 2£. Never again I'll not buy their product. I bought a foam gun and use flacons from another company. They've got a 2 times more foam inside. For the price of this garbage you can buy 2 big flacons.
Do not use this on a 90° angle that has a top. The can gets in the way. Massive mess. Why in your country everything has to me upside down. Its really a horrible product design.
