+Uncle Joe The book says he mailed in his performance because he knew the movie was going to be shit. I've seen him act in other roles and he really can act. His work in Retro Puppet Master was really great.
Tommy thinking the dog was an android proves 100% that we have already experienced first contact with aliens. This shit is awesome. "IS IT REAL THING?" Only a actual alien would ask this kind of question.
I know, right!? Franco's accent sounds like a typical movie-star imitation of the real life person's, while Sestero's is the more natural one, the kind you have when you're imitating a close one. Although, to be fair, Sestero has been friends with Tommy forever, and Franco was working off of second-hand media, so that was expected.
"Just get in the damn shot". This response was said on the film's director, writer, and executive producer, which is the same person. And this line sums up what probably everybody feels while shooting the movie.
I truly can't wait for Tommy's book which is supposed to be an alternate take on everything written in The disaster artist from his perspective. The fact that he wants to call his book "the disaster artist" too tells us it will be a Sutter Cane style tone to madden the soul. It's gonna be great.
+thatguywiththeegg If Wiseau writes a book it'll probably be biased as hell and just be him rambling about how great he thinks The Room is just because he made it. Tommy Wiseau strikes me as that kind of arrogant prick.
Greg fucking nailed Tommy's accent. Their were actually some actors in The Room who could act but given the dialogue they were reciting it was impossible to give a good performance. You could see a little talent peaking around the horrible script from time to time tho. The Disaster Artist movie looks great and the early buzz has making me want to see it even more. I need to read this book first.
Greg voice-acts out the scenes really well, his Tommy Wiseau impression is great. A shame his career was ruined by The Room, the dude actually had potential.
I'm pretty confident the film adaptation of this will be great, but part of me wishes Greg had an actual starring role in it. He's made a good living out of The Room (it seems), but I feel bad that it's come to define his career entirely. Hopefully this leads to some sort of revival for him
jmd620 Let's be honest. Greg Sestero wasn't a spectacular actor. He wasn't bad, but decent-acting pretty boys are a dime a dozen in LA. His career wasn't all that notable before the Room. Sure, the Room probably destroyed any chance of him getting recognition in the mainstream acting world, but it was practically up to blind luck to begin with. I do wish he does make it big, though. That's the very least he deserves for dealing with Tommy.
Cheese on Toast .... No surprise that Greg Sestero's impersonation was 1000 times better than James Franco ... They've been best friends for years, whereas James Franco only met him a few times and used audio tapes and video for reference. But absolutely, Greg Sestero's impression is the best Tommy ever!
The flower shop is my favorite scene in The Room. I read The Disaster Artist recently (after seeing the movie) and now am tempted to buy the audiobook too because Greg's impression of Tommy is so great, much better than James Franco's.
OMG I don't care how much this costs I must have it, now!! I was planning on reading it but after hearing how perfect, err Mark, imitates Johnny, from the accent to the timing and annunciation ....I must purchase this audio book .
I wasn't too into the [Disaster Artist] movie but I loved the book. It was really difficult to describe my opinion of Tommy. There were times where I had fun reading about the chaos he caused before and during the making of The Room, and then there were times where he said or did things that would make him very unlikeable.... until he he says or does something to make you laugh again. Aside from that, it was a fun read.
My favorite quote from the book is from when Tommy has his emergency reunion *"Stop, stop! Stop this nonsense. Have respect for producers. You guys are flying in the sky."*
This is amazing, I'm buying this audiobook for sure, the Tommy impressions are perfect. If anyone is interested, I recommend you check out the 'Ask Me Anything' that Tommy did on Reddit a couple of years ago.. his answers and way of speaking are just amazing..
Aww. I couldn’t help but smile and laugh. I need to listen to the whole audio. I came here because I heard that Greg does a good audio. I did not expect his amazing impression of Tommy
Here's the location of the flower shop: www.google.cl/maps/@37.7644624,-122.4300688,3a,42.6y,161.85h,89.08t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sjGR17X9qelUqEwuUDIlQEg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 (RIP flower shop)
Atheneastro No, it's not lack of talent, that is not funny. Tommy is the ultimate ANTI-talent. When he "acts", shitty as it may be, it immediately becomes comedy gold...
This story is fantastic. Wiseau is such interesting character. I am looking forward to the movie adaptation. But at the same time, the adaptation is in James Franco's hands. We all know how incopetent he can be and how he can ruin such fantastic concept.
It's amazing how Greg does a better Tommy than Tommy does (And I'm fortunate enough to meet him in person) yet it also sounds like Ren from Ren and Stimpy
Tommy Wiseau is totally the best director ever. I know in the Disaster artist he is described in a bad way, but I dont see his cinematography as bad. Its good and he made the worlds best comedy to date.
What a story, Mark.
Anyway, how's your sex life.
Ike Santiago I can't talk about it.
ekathe85 Yeah you can say that again.
+yifgoh snchez keep your stupid comments in your pocket!
TheCrimsonTomato Stop ganging up on me!
Greg's Tommy accent on fucking point
+FLaiR791 I thought it was Tommy himself for a second. It's scary accurate
Wistbacka that's what happens when you spend too much time with him.
yeah man, he does an amazing impression of a new orleanian
@@fabiocabral6574
A ragin Cajun, if you will
Greg said that he used to use Tommy's phrases when talking to him as a joke. That was probably where he got it
This proves that Greg actually has some acting talent.
+Uncle Joe Don't doubt the Sestosterone.
+MisterHeroman I need to remember to say that the next time my friends and I watch The Room.
+Uncle Joe The book says he mailed in his performance because he knew the movie was going to be shit. I've seen him act in other roles and he really can act. His work in Retro Puppet Master was really great.
Uncle Joe he's fantastic in this . But he's a great writer. Wow.
Watching any of his movies will dispel that notion. His performance in Retro Puppet Master is laughably bad.
His impersonation of Tommy is spot on!
he knows him for more than a decade
he knows him for more than a decade
he's still better than James Franco
I have to agree. Greg's voice impersonation is better than jame's...
LanzEarthling yeah, James sounds simply bored to me.
So what you're telling me is...
"Oh hai doggie" was improvised? Because that's amazing.
I'm convinced Tommy is a vampire from the 1200s that took a long nap and woke up in the 80s. Worked his way up to become a Writer, Director etc.
Ate his way up...lol
I love how much Greg sounds like Tommy.
What if they're the same person
I love his impression of Tommy Wiseau.
This part from the book also needs to be in the upcoming movie adaptation.
It looks like it will be as Greg uploaded a photo of James Franco in the flower shop with a pug on his Facebook page.
What line? What are line?
I love his impression of Tommy. It's so spot on!
he knows him for more than a decade
Tommy thinking the dog was an android proves 100% that we have already experienced first contact with aliens. This shit is awesome.
"IS IT REAL THING?"
Only a actual alien would ask this kind of question.
His accent is better than Franco's in the movie version.
Shrey Sankalp - True. Too bad Franco didn't hire Sestero as a vocal coach. 😊
Lol imagine if they dubbed Greg's impersonation onto francos voice . Then it would be like the original room
What are you talking about his accent as Tommy was incredible
By a long shot
"Just get in the damn shot".
This response was said on the film's director, writer, and executive producer, which is the same person.
And this line sums up what probably everybody feels while shooting the movie.

When will this book come out? I can't find anything on Google.

hi doggy
RockLou thats because Greg himself is narrating the book, it's great!

That was by far the funniest part in the book

That's not even an impression. That just *is* Tommy Wiseau.
Holy god that's good.

Xehanort10 I imagine it's more terrified into compliance than charmed
jessy lynn
He's pretty charismatic at first glance. Until you realize his personality...
also in the Room he was fuckin jacked
He doesn't have to, he's her favorite customer.
Greg voice-acts out the scenes really well, his Tommy Wiseau impression is great. A shame his career was ruined by The Room, the dude actually had potential.
I obviously meant his career as an actor, not as a self-biographer.
I mean he is terrible in the movie. Not like he was "the only bright spot" or something
"Ruined"
Gregg belongs with Tommy.
@Consural: nope, the room actually created his career. so perhaps he should be happy now.
As good as James Franco was I kind of wished Greg played Tommy in the disaster artist haha. That impression is uncanny!
I would die happily if I could see Greg play Tommy and Tommy play Greg
I'm pretty confident the film adaptation of this will be great, but part of me wishes Greg had an actual starring role in it. He's made a good living out of The Room (it seems), but I feel bad that it's come to define his career entirely. Hopefully this leads to some sort of revival for him

The audiobook is incredible.
It fills in a lot of puzzle pieces of what made The Room what it was.
I love how you can hear Greg smiling/laughing as he reads the last sentence in this excerpt. 🤣
"Is it real thing?"
XD
Damn. Greg's Tommy impression is spot on!
"Hopefully he doesn't bite me, my gawwwd!" Anyone else hearing Jane Forth in 'Trash'? Tommy often sounds like her.
Hopefully he doesn't bite me, my GOD.

Super bummed that the "is it real thing?" exchange doesn't happen in the movie.
My love for Greg is unlimited.
"So is it real thing?!" I died, oh my god!
Could we have an alternative version of the Disaster Artist where Greg Sestero overdubs James Franco?
That's meeee
Christ that impression. Absolute Perfection.

I wish Tommy had narrated this.
You wouldn't be able to understand him. And Greg actually makes fun of the film. And that hilarious impression 😂

If Tommy was my age, I'd marry him. Not even kidding. Life wouldn't be boring with him.

I read the book a few years back, but I might just pick up the audiobook just to listen to Greg's Wiseau impression lol.
"So, is it real thing?" I lost it
Gotta say, Greg does a very good impression of Tommy. LOL
The story of 'The Disaster Artist' is more crazier than 'The Room' itself

Very curious to know what kind of dogs Tommy has on his home planet.
Sestero is so great at voice acting. No kidding, his Tommy impression is so great and better than Franco's. And I actually love Franco's impression.

I've read this book 4 times! It is such a great read!!
This just convinces me that Tommy Wiseau is a wizard pretending to be a muggle and that he's the uncle of Luna Lovegood XD
Haha cool story mark
This is a great bedtime story. *Grabs pillow and blanket*
Tommy Wiseau is very sweet.
He's like Ed Wood. A lot of passion and dedication in his work while having absolutely no talent.
I think he does have some talent.
